I shoot with the nikon Sb 600 SPEEDLIGHT AND A POCKET WIZARD TT1 & TT5 for nikon love pocket wizard i was wondering can you use the pocket wizard ac3 on my camera
I don't think this "learn" mode is ready for prime time. I've never gotten it to work. My Mini TT1 just flat-out died trying to do it, and I've never been able to pair my MultiMax radios with the Flex units, either with the PW Utility or the "learn" mode. Anyone else have these issues?
Does the test button work for metering purposes? I had the impression it fired the lights at minimal power levels. Anyway, ideally I'd like to walk around with the mini TT1 + AC3 in one hand and the meter in the other hand; and either fire the strobes with the test button while metering or have a cable sync from the mini to the meter. Are either of these possible?
actually If you want to meter manual flash, you don't have to trigger it from camera. You can trigger the flash and meter it using test button on your trigger module.
Your answer to using sekonic meters that have the pocketwizard module is cumulative mode? ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? By using cumulative mode, your are not using the pocket wizard module in the meter!!!! Why not offer a updated module for us with sekonic meters and tt1/tt5/ac3... basically anything pocketwizard makes that uses controlTL channels?
i agree that sentiment of giving us an updated PW...
might I add, how about 1 PW with an option for a standard channel switch, virtually making it a Plus II, and ETTL setting...without needing to go into the utilities on a computer... just a good ol' toggle switch on the outside of the unit?
(qb26... he did say cumulative mode works, but confirmed its NOT using the PW radio in the Sekonic - one is essentially just using ARCF mode on the Sekonic then... dont need PW 4 that)
2 things. Had the pleasure to catch up with some of your colleagues at Novembers Javits Centre in NYC. We love our new AC3 its just a little bit clunky; ie, u already know;
1. We want to get the ettl ratio mode to work like the Canon and compensate for two or more flashes.
2. We want to use our sekonic to meter and adjust with ac3 on manual. Surely theres a way your boffins can tweak it to pick it up when we trigger sekonic and make flashes fire?
yep, like you said, ETTL sucks on AC3, overexposd to about a stop..just dial down the setting to somehow...greatword here... ABOUT... the point of ETTL is to be smart.. when you hav to say that my old St-E2 is better.. .. you slip fast on that one... anyway, just can't wait to see what Phottix will be performing compare to this.. PS i'm still waiting for the AC9 that i was told i would have for august..months ago... i know, that could be worst..i could be a Nikon shooter..

You can set up one of your channels to use Standard signal using the PocketWizard Utility and use that channel when using your Sekonic.
