The band does a good job on the song, but the singer is weak at best,he lacks the soul of this kind of groove. When you cover Soul music the singing has got too be strong.Otherwise GOOD work!
ToP may be one of the most difficult bands to cover but these people do a great job of it. I've been a ToP fan for 35 years, have played music professionally for about as long and have never heard anyone come this close to sounding like the original. Excellent!!
I stumbled on this clip looking for another one, and got hooked the first second.
Im VERY familiar with T o P and have seen the real version of this song live a several times, but this is even BETTER than the "original" in some ways!
I speak as a professional concert sound engineer and a Hammond B-3 organist for over 25 years, and this is my honest and spontaneous opinion!
Who are these guys? I want to hear more of this terrific band!
wow guys that was great.TOP are the greatest live act around and noone will ever compare but u guys are definately one of the great replications ive seen.the rhythm section grooves brilliatly and the horns are tight.ive always searched for a band who can play with the same feel and u guys are close.love it
Absolutely NO where close to the sound of the original Tower of Power lineup . This is WEAK . Original Tower of Power is my generation . I'm a HUGE fan . And if your interested . Go back to the originals which include the POWERHOUSE Chester Thompson .
Mate, show me where I claim this Band is better than TOP and your criticsm may hold some water. This was a re-union gig in 2005 . They are having another re-union in August this year ,it will also be a sellout and the band and the punters will have a ball, you should come on over and check them out - broaden your horizons - get a life. The last time I saw TOP at "Arizona Charlies" in Las Vegas, Garibaldi had more Microphones on his Drum Kit than the whole of this band had at this gig.
I've seen Tower of Power maybe 30 times over the past 20 years... they're darn friggin' close...
I'd like to hear you put together a band who can hack arrangements like this and come close... Tower of Power can't be copied, but these guys are kickin'... They sound like they're playing from their hearts, not just copying Berklee College charts...
super hot backing singer, Mind you you are copying one of the best tracks ever recorded, and the original sax solo must be one of the best sax solos ever including all the jazzers before, lenny picket, too good. the Tower of Power didnt have such beautiful singers thought, I dont think any one has compared to her.

MJTElevision: Cowboy Hat and TOP go well together. Mic Gillette an original horn player always wore a cowboy hat.

I don't get it.. A soul band, yet the lead tenor player is wearing a cowboy hat... Does that not strike anyone else as weird?

that was kinda weird but cool
