Mate, awesome bike. Looking at buying one over the next few months, trying to decide weather to go for the SMW kit, or the Hogwild kit? What made you choose SMW? All the importing hassle doesn't apeal to me so I was just going to spend the bit extra and buy the Hogwild bike.
Mate went for the inclosed primary as it is just easier to get licensed, pretty sure you can get open primary through but some plates are required not really worth it in the long run.
Very nice job, not usually a fan of busy paint work but i think this looks sweet. Just a question though, were you required by law to use the closed (HD style) primary? I havent seen any bikes in aus with an open primary showing the belt. Planning on placing an order later this year, just curious. Cheers
cheers mate ,ive ordered the same pipes as you (daisey cutters ) just wondered what you think of them do you think they sound good were you happy with them ,also did you have a customs broker or did you fill out the paper work your self ,thanks for the reply mate and your bike b4 you sold it lol is the best godfather bike ive seen so far bet you miss it lol
hi mate ive ordered my smw godfather kit been 2 weeks waiting so far , cant wait, just a question is your bike colour tangerine candy over silver lol cos ive told my painter thats the colour i want and then when i was looking on here saw your bike im doing it a little different tho but still with skulls im doing skulls inside tribal and a special effect called wrinkle effect lol
No worries mate at 5''6 the bike would be OK though i would be mentioning this to Randy on order changers to be made will need higher bars and mabey dont go for the stretch in the foward controls.Im 5''11 and i fit the bike with no problems see how you go. Im sure Randy will be able to help if not dont order bars from him and get a set from AUS once bike is just about finshed to suit your requirement.
Thank you, my mistake, misread the amount, i have plenty of other question but i will leave you in peace for now. I have never built a bike but i think i'm handy enough to do it, just need as much help as possible from someone that done one. I'm in the process of selling another bike to finance the build. One question, i'm 5"6 and wondering if this bike would be too long, or if i could just change the bars for an easier reach and any othe mods to make it easier to ride and more comfaterble.
sorry mate you mis understood one thousand and nine dollars was the fees at this end including GST before i coulod pick up the bike...Not going to go in to what i paid for the bike as thats for Randy t go through with and what extras you want .
You said total cost bike + GST was $1709.56 in Aus, so how much did you get the bike for. On ebay it's $17990, did you speak to randy and get a better deal. Thanks mate.
Also forgot to mention that i had to buy here stand wedge as we were not happy with the bike on the stand would not lay over enough to prevent fall was not Rego. Rear light did not have it needed to buy another one...If i think of anything else will put up.
Up spec BDL Clutch heaps easier to order...US dollar good t the moment should get good deal...Other than what i have already written rest of kit good insure you order inclosed primary as open will not pass, neither will pipes will need pipes to go over rego should be able to help with that. Randy is very helpfull I would order another one from them really good ride bike site up even with no lay oer like alot of other bike kits...Complete to high spec bike is worth good money to re-sell
I would be making sure you upgrade starter motor to heavy duty, dont order all in one wiring kit, det them to make you a simple wiring kit with cerkit breakers and relays...The kit they sell for approx $200-300 is neat though if bike breaks down good luck finding fault through mine in the bin as soon as we seen it. Indercator kit didnt use to big and ugly went led indercators if you do so order LED box to run indercators. Clutch wouldnt adjust correctly if to order another one insure you order
Dont need ICV order bike first once bike arrives have engineer inspect total cost approx $500.00 from start to end doccuments, I used Sam Rossie he was excellent.Take Photos of bare frame including welds, commence paint and build, Fill out ICV form whils building once geetting clost toend build fill out request VIN for ICV/KIT CAR doccumnent. Once complete Sam will come back out and inspect and if pass will then lodge for all paperwork to go to pits for final rego.
Total cost paid in AUS was $1709.56 for importing this consisited of GST,cleareance from customs and xrays of in side tyres. Bike was freighted through Schenker transport first pallet arrived 2 weeks after order. Bike is brought in as parts. Yes to rego ICV Frame come with Number though relocate in battrey box, Bring frame over with number taped to frame as they weld it to goose neck. Once ICV application is done you will be issued VIN num make plarke and install to frame
hows it going mate, love the bike, been checkin out the vid of your bike everyday for the last month, i didn't realise you are in WA as well, i'm in Joondalup, i have been planning to get one from SMW too, got all the coin ready but waiting for the permit for the ICV, did you have any trouble with getting approval for it at all? Did you have to change anything on the kit to make it meet the engineering standards, got heaps of other questions too, any problems putting the kit together?
You did have to pat 10% GST right? Is your bike registered as a ICV, The frames on thses bikes have vin numbers and isn't that considerd a production bike, From what i can gather from web sites and the RTA, the frame must be individualy constructered which means no numbers. I have spoken to Randy about this and said he could send me a frame without numbers. Was that the case with your bike. I apreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. It's hard to get answer and fax. Thanks mate.
No problem what so ever with rego for W.A and from what i know this is one of the harder states to get somthing like this built...
Dont import a bike in full asyou will pay in taxes...Only issue with import was that the tyres with fitted to wheels and hey wanted to x-ray them other than that all good if you are pretty mechanical kit shoud take you about 70- 100 hours more than happy to answer an questions if you like...Just sold bike will look at bringing another one in shortly...
Nice bike, i'm from Sydney and have been looking at getting myself something like that, but seems impossible to import a complete bike from America. I have checked out SMW godfather as well and seems like a sweet ride. Did you have any problems importing the kit or getting it registered. I've spoken to Randy from SMW and seems like a man that would help you as much as possible
