Haha you guys are retarded. The US doesn't dive at all, and they are clearly the best in the world. And saying that morgan should have been sent off is like saying someone who gets kicked in the face should be sent off for hitting the opponent's foot with his face
I think it was a fantastic DF action by the best DF in the world. It had to be done, and it deserved a yellow for the committed nature of the tackle. But no way was it a red, the FW was not clean thru on goal. Furthermore the FW contributed to the incident by playing the ball at the DF.
good job iwashimizu. they were both going for the ball, morgan never had possession. red card, ha. since she got red carded anyway, too bad she did'nt get croch kicked.
the japanese couldn't evitate to touch the foot of the americain, missed the ball who was sending back but not enough (we saw it came back when both are on the ground). A red is not deserved on this action. As I am neither Americain nor Japanese, I can say that I have a neutral opinion in this case. So please be honest and don't complain for such things like kids. If the japanese hadn't act, who can say the americain would have made a goal ? She could have missed it too like her teamates.
come on ! if she deserved a red, then all the defenser in soccer should have one. So far, they never get red for that. She did a regular slide. She was sliding to touch the ball, sliding means anticipating a few seconds before, we clearly see she missed the ball for a few millimeters because the american shoot the ball with the heel to have it back. I mean: the americain put her foot in front of the ball. Doing so, the ball was missed by the japanese who was already sliding...
Hey thanks for posting this. Japan won by this penalty. The ball should have been marked in the box, one on one, as the play would have been. The US out-played and out-classed the Japanese - particularly here as the Americans never mention this in re-caps of the match. U-S-A! well done
And It hurts that this prevented a great opportunity but absolutely everybody would have done the same thing with just a minute or so left in OT in the Final. Who knows what would have happened if Morgan got through or the foul happened in the box. If Morgan took a PK it prob would be a goal. She was on fire this game. I don't know why she wasn't chosen as one of the firsts for the shootout.
But US can't just point to this play. They had plenty of chances to put it away the 1st half.
Those of you who are saying this shouldn't have been a red card are dreaming. It's the very definition of a professional foul preventing a 1 on 1 with the goalie and a terrific goal-scoring opportunity. The facts don't change based on whether it's men or women playing. Get real.
For red card to be awarded, one must have much more definite break away or clear path to goal than one Alex Morgan had. This may be considered Red in Women's game, but it would never fly as Red in Men's game, especially when Alex had to turn the ball to avoid defender, clearly tackling from side.
There is a law of game for professional foul, but this is hardly one of them.
just from a pure sports outlook, the US was on a break away with no one to stop her with japan's last defensive player's only option was to take her out or lose the game. making the US force a penalty kick rather than a breakaway on the goal... she basically kamikaze'd that goal.
Alex Morgan had a bit of sloppy touch right before this video, probably trying to get inside the box ASAP. Japanese defender went for the ball, but Morgan got there a bit quicker, turning the ball, ended up taking her down as a result. It was outside 18, defender came in low and studs down, in the trajectory of where ball was going, before Morgan redirected it. Yellow card on coming in hard.. yes. Red, NO. Everyone was caught in excitement of final minutes, including ref.

Japan won by redcard penalty only - Japan never intended to touch the ball - she was beaten - a sure goal by the American

Why is that a red card? she's just breaking up the play. That's heads up soccer.

Way to show some class Japan slit-eyed fucks. I hope there is a 10.0 earthquake that kills everybody in Japan while Godzilla eats the remains.
