As much as I love the visuals, I think I love the music even more. It fits perfectly with the tone and is just a beautiful song. Its a shame therefore that I cant find the band anywhere; I would absolutely buy an album like this. Much better than 90% of the rubbish in the charts.

It actually has little to nothing to do with 'tilt-shifting' at all. Instead, parts of the image are blurred, so that it gives the illusion of being really close to the camera. Check out Miniature Faking on Wikipedia for a better description of how it works (and comparison shots)

@superman1113215 if you were to take normal image and want it to look like its been tilt shifted its a simple gradient blur (in photoshop) to the top and bottom of the picture. the more blur applied to a specific area of the picture gives it the effect of distance and angle.

@superman1113215 when you look at those things in real scale with ur eyes u can see differences in depth (the blur) and perception (like if you look at a building from the bottom up it will look like a triangle and that sort of things), in toys and miniatures everything is in the same distance from ur eyes so u barely see any perspective changes, everything is in the 'correct' relative size, so you know its a miniature or a toy. tilt-shift lens 'plays' with this to create toy like images.

@superman1113215 i think they play with macro. it is like focusing on a small object while blurring the environment around. you can see what i mean by trying to photograph a small object while focusing. i think that this technique has to do with something like that, but i am no expert.

@superman1113215 Usually when looking at a scene of this scale, since everything is very far away, your eyes can focus the entire image. What they do is make the foreground and the background out of focus, so your brain is tricked into thinking that the foreground is very close, the subject is at a slightly bigger distance, and the background is far away. This kind of narrow depth of field (focus) only occurs if the subject is very small and very close to you in usual photography.

@superman1113215 the camera lens alters the point of focus causing some areas to seem in focus while others do not, depending on how much the lens is shifted it will affect how the image or video is viewed such as the lens can either make a large building seems to be completely parallel or can be used to over exaggerate the buildings size , the tilt affects the point of focus and the depth of focus,the more the lens is tilted the shallower the "angular" depth of focus is which causes this effect

@superman1113215 - From what I know, the frame-rate on the rough film was made a bit choppier, and unwanted particles were removed by software. Softening of light and making the colors stronger was added to simulate a lack of scale. Blurring everything that wasn't of major focus would make it easier to trick the eye.

@dajepsen ok,, scrap wat i just said -.- i just read the interview and he says that he tested using the tilt shift focus, yet chose to just add the depth of field effect in the post production instead. Which gives the same effect, yet has more flexibility. :P hope this helps
