  • Okay I have a MK3 Cl Golf and when I'm in fifth gear going 100 k/h it revs just over 3000 rpm. Is this normal or is this something wrong with the engine?

  • @sh115067 Speed to rpm is allways fixed as it depends on the gear ratio (and also tire diameter) ... so it cant change if something is wrong with the engine (unless is for example a slipery clutch)

  • @sparrowlt So i was to get larger tired then the rpm's might go down? I'm actually concerned about my gas bill. Higher rpm's means more gas consumption right.

  • @sh115067 Yes.. bigger tires = lower rpm and that can result in slighty lower fuel consumption.. still aceleration will drop and engine load will also increase a bit .

  • @sparrowlt Okay, Thanks. Makes sense.

  • @sh115067 That's about right, actually.. My Jetta does 3,000 at about 65MPH/100KPH

  • hey nice video man...whats with the temperature? is it normal? mine never goes all the goes beyond the middle bar..got the same as you 8v

  • @guz9122 When the video was recorded the car was beginning to show signs of a bad head gasket.. it was replaced some time after.. you are right, normally it doesnt go beyond the middle.

  • oye no manches brother ya viste la aguja de la temperatura??no mames le vas a dar un calentón y lo vas a desvielar esos carros marcan en grados farenheit y no deben erbazar su límite que es el cuadrito blanco

  • Well an engine swap is much easier but the bigger sized engine's will bum rape you on the insurance, with the 1.8 8v in your car changing things like the throttle bodies, shrick cams, polished head, air induction system, 4 branch manifold, an ecu upgrade engine re-mapping and you've got yourself a pretty special 8 Valve engine in your Dub!

  • You're shifting it kinda high in RPM my two GTi were stopping to pull around 5500-5800

  • @vwlillysky Well yeah.. the 8V delivers max power between 5500 and 6000. 1st to 2nd i changed at about 6000 and the 2nd i left it throught end because it was not worth change to 3rd since it gets to 105 in 2nd.

But yes.. i could definitily had changed better.. and the clutch was not perfect too (was replaced about 20k km after this vid)

  • That's quick :) but dont expect more power from 8v :D

  • I dont.. actually i dont expect it to develop the original "new" hp :)

  • Good :P coz I tried from my 8v and I've just destroyed injectors and fuel pump :P

  • There is no much that can be done to tune the 8V. the usualy cam , manifolds and so upgrades ..and of course increasing it to 2.000cc . Even so .. i know a guy with manifolds, cam, 2.000cc block and he got 119hp . I would say "screw that.. im swaping in a 16v or a G60 engine" .. its really more cheap to swap in another more powerfull engine than trying to tune the 8v

  • Clever. It does not even increse much power to 8v. I just brought VW golf mk2 CL 1990 and Im thinking about 2.9T VR6 286hp from my friends old VW Golf mk3 VR^ :D

  • @StencilMax2000 im just about to buy a 1990 gti with a vr6 installed. 180 hp or so. i drove it holy is it fast. i might chip it down the road. 286hp???? thats just ludicrous. i sure hope u dont start snapping welds on that 1990 body

  • When you tune the 8v golf gti you're not looking for huge bhp increase but boy what you do get is a neck breaking endless charge of pure engine par which for me beats rev roaring engine breaking bhp anyday. My 298 degree, 4-1 exhaust, high compression (11.5) 2.000cc 8v sends me grining up the road like no one else.

  • Explain then the aerodinamic and road noise and how the time matchs the known one for this car you stupid piece of ass

  • i have an mk1 with this pb engine 8v hit 100 in less than 8 s with no mods just short gearbox

  • i´m new at this golf business. Could you tell me what cars a shorter gearbox could be taken from?

  • My fathers peugeot 306 doing 0-100 in 10s and it's 1.6...87hp.

  • the 8v is only 85hp, here in canada with the no-cat its 95hp

  • Nope ! a mk2 1.8 8v is 102 or 105 bhp the mk3 CL 1.8 8v is 90 hp .

  • @smartechrc 1.8 8V GTI PB (electronic fuel injection) engine was 112hp in Europe , there was also a catalyced version (PF engine) with 107hp.

    There was a carburated 1.8 8V wich developed 90hp

  • @sparrowlt Yup I had a 86 gti no cat with 112hp it was amazing to drive, too bad it was kinda raggety, :P

In september I'm gettin a 89 GTI, I CANT WAIT!!!! be llloking for pics, it will be DROPED, not allways but for some noce photos yes :)

  • mk1 was 9,0 with the 1,6 110 hp

  • in fact it was 8.7s

  • anyways,that s fast..light cars..

  • Indeed.

"Dont increase my power... divide my weight"

  • is it stock?

  • Yes, no mods, only a ram-air..and a rebuilt

    head

  • oh lucky.. mine dosnt even have a rev limiter haha

  • Its not that expensive to fit one :D

  • it was rated at just over 8 secs

  • It was rated to 9 or even 10s depending on the magazine.. but never saw the mk2 GTI digi2 under 9s

    the mk1 was 8.5 or 8
