I'm between this and the daniel defense omega 9. I figured I'd try to get your opinion on this since most of the purchases I've made have been thanks to your informational videos. Do you have any experience with the DD Omega 9? Any input would be greatly apprecitated.
Awesome video...3:58 minutes in length with 3.58 minutes worth of information. Unlike some other reviewers that post 30 minute long videos that can be done in two minutes.
I would really like to see a photo reel of this rail on that run on the blog. It's not like other rails, and there's not as many photos of it in action as there could be. Plus, that rifle looks really weird with that strange paint on it.
@siguser17 There is tan paint on the upper/lower, barrel, and receivers. There is also textured gray paint on the receivers only, the color of which is hidden underneath the tan paint. This is something I tried on another rifle years ago and found to be not all that bad, so I painted this one in a similar manner.
Can you do a comparison between the C4 rail and the Daniel Defense AR-15 LITE 12.0 FSPM Mid-Length Rail? To the best of my knowledge, the FSPM is the only cut-out rail for a mid-length with a FSB besides the C4. I plan on putting one of the two on my BCM middy.
@JacksCZ452 Right now I have 4 other rails to review, each one takes a long time, I do not plan on any more in the near future. I will say that both are good quality rails - the Lite might be a little lighter than the C4, but the C4 will be lighter after I add a sling swivel attachment to the Lite rail, which does not have QD sockets. The Lite also requires specialized tools for installation, and the removal of the front sight base and muzzle device.
Those barrels aren't indexed are they? You have to install it that so it's not tilted in any way, no? What about how far into the action the barrel has to go? Stuff like this keeps me from messing with rails, etc. It's not that I don't think I could do it, but the aggravation until you get it right again ...
@240FP There is an index pin in the barrel that mates up with a notch in the receiver. The barrel can be canted ever so slightly if you don't observe basic procedures during the installation, but this is easily fixed. As far as how far in the barrel goes, the barrel extension has a collar that slides right up against the receiver. It's pretty much idiot-proof.
Great review Andrew. One question: is the size in hand comparable to a LaRue rail? They are optimally sized for me being pretty narrow, but of course they don't continue the top rail... so I was interested in the C4.

Is there a 'tan' textured, spray paint coating on your upper and lower receiver, barrel, and front sight post?

@VuurwapenBlog Thanks! I'll probably go with the C4 then. I realize it's also not as expensive as the Lite.

@VuurwapenBlog
No worries. I'm looking forward to all your reviews as I see them in my sub box.
I've been on the hunt for some info on the Ferfrans SOAR system. Have you had a chance to run one yet?

@clap5 I have not seen one of those, it sure has an impressive name though.

@r3h4b The Centurion rail is about 1/8" wider and taller than the LaRue. In the hand, they feel quite comparable.
