Okay well my problem isnt as critical as most of the other people here, but it is still an annoying, i can open .exe files( for the most). But my laptop clock is a hour behind and when i try to change it i get the message " These files cannot be opened". I also run into this problem when i try to update my flash player, although when i try to install programs they work without interruption from that message so i am confused on what to do. I seen this solution many times. Should i give it a go?

ok i have a BIG problem on my computer, i have windows 7 & every time i try to open an ese to instal sony vegas my computer just ask me if i want it to make changues on my compurer i click the accept button & then it nevers open anything & i realy use a lot sony vegas

i think i once open sonyvegas9 exe but a 32bit version so maybe that is what fucked my computer

Regedit is a .exe file...if you can't run regedit in the first place...this method wont work

if you guys having trouble opening files, just search this on google: Default File Type Associations - Restore. if it fails, type this on cmd: assoc .exe=exefile and press Enter. You may have to restart the computer. Please rate my comment if this works :)

@robertstojs Try to boot to the "Safe Mode" (Before you launch your OS, keep pressing F8 and you should see the list). Then, while in save mode, try to do "System Restore" to restore the settings to the date. Select the date BEFORE the problem happened. If you need info on this, ask.

A tip: If you re-name your .exe docs " .com " they should run, I re-named my malwarebytes that way and was able to run it; it recognized the virus and was able to eradicate it.

@NashNashNasha Sorry for a long delay. Try to go to C (or where you installed your OS), then Windows, System32 and search for Regedt32.exe. 7 step means, to remove the old registry...

@TheMightyMaximxD Damn, I afraid of your problem. When you install Windows, Regedt32.exe file needs to be in System32 folder. I had the same problem as you said now, I open .exe file and nothing happens, no table, anything. Just after the fix with Registry Editor, everything worked.

Okay, I uploaded a .reg file to fix Internet Settings. Go to 2Shared com website. Then Add/Type this: /file/RtdgSkWQ/Registry . html (Without spaces). Download it. Reboot the PC after update. Hope, it will work...
