I agree, however when I comes to strippers regardless of their gender its usually used in a sexual way. Not that that's a huge deal but if someome Wanted to watch anyone but Me intertain them sexually I ouldnt be with them.
Umm...what about male strippers? Yes, it's exploitative, and I personally like it! I made some big bucks doing a live sex show with a bunch of boys twenty years ago. It was kind of odd, because these old, Republicans tipped me big time.
It was me and some guys, there was supposed to be one girl, but she didn't show up, and the show went on without her. Bottom line, I wound up walking cum-faced between tables with the tip jar, wives would suck me while husbands would put 20s in the jar.
Americans view nudity as sexual but Europeans do not. This American view of all nudity as sexual is based on puritan and Quaker roots that still plaque our culture...
Twenty years or so ago, I made porn. Met and dated some of the nicest people you'd ever want to know, some of them strippers, or other people in the sex worker community. Make no mistake, we are a community, we are trustworthy, we are better at keeping confidences than mistresses or boy toys.
Jack, you really need to get out more. "Serious monogamous relationship" is an odd code-phrase for you; where did that come from?
Well, it's coulture and envirnment, in america because of heavy religious influence nudity is frowend apon, but in europe nudity is no big deal because they believe the naked body is beauteful (especialy the womens body). I have been to europe! I been to amsterdam twice and I loved it, the secont time I went I stayed at a beach town called Zandvoort and that beach was a topless beach! Yeah I also been to my share of strip clubs, I dont go thare alot now because of recession.
I think strippers are seen as stealing a person's attention away from their significant other.
Probably not many people that can keep their eyes off a beautiful person whether they have clothes on or not. In general I enjoy a sharp dressed person's image more then a nude person because only the very young have perfect bodies.
Not just in this context but I think in general people like to own other people. Slavery is a common feature of historical human society. Knowledge is freedom.
I'm not exactly sure the point your friend was making, however I doubt very seriously in your modeling class guys were stuffing $20 bills in your G-String whilst you coaxed them back to the Champagne Room. A nude body is a beautiful thing, but when it's subjected to the raw forces of capitalism that beauty can lose some of its luster.
I think its because there are no inherent instincts demanding that you regard beauty in something, but there damn sure are some instincts that demand you look at some things sexually.
The greatest Sin in life is not to live your life to the fullest, to not for fill your own dreams and desires. is nude modeling different from stripping? ya. a lot different. i agree with your points, but this was pretty asinine. also, i have a girlfriend who does nude photography with whom i frequently go to strip clubs, so this isn't a prejudice. did you seductively remove your clothes, grind on a pole, and/or straddle someone's face during nude modeling?
yes, stripping can be considered admiration of the female form...but let's not kid ourselves and ignore the clear sexual context of it.
@Naut Oh I agree with you, and I do think there is a clear distinction between the two. What I'm trying to get at in general is the fear of the nude issue, and if in his world nude modeling should be considered exploitation as well.
ah i gotcha. didn't completely understand your approach until acknowledging the perspectives of this jack guy. i feel like a lot of people have some sort of shameful aversion to nudity, of varying degrees, due to the sexual implications they apply to it. which is just...so absurd. i suppose that's what you're getting at to some extent.
@healthyaddict Cool, I just linked to your facebook page through your link on here. Hope that will work for seeing where and when you will be going places. =D
Good strippers at good clubs can rake up between 500 and 1000 dollars a night! In some clubs in New York the women have to PAY the owner of the club to be able to work the night. If that is exploiting, I want to be exploited.
Personally, I get nervous in strip clubs and I don't particularly like them, but everyone is free to do whatever they want, as a client, or as a worker.
The only thing I get concerned about is when people see ALL nudity as sexual, regardless of context. A strip club is one thing, a nudist/naturist club is something different entirely. While I do think more people should join in with naturism (for promotion of healthy body image and just meeting nice people!), as long as people understand the differences in context, I have no problem.
Being a naturtist, I of course do not think the human body is anything to be ashamed of. The key part when it comes to using sex as a job; is it safe? And if taking your clothes off for another persons enjoyment (while I personally would not get the kind of sexual excitement out of it) makes you a living, who am I to complain as long as you're not being abused? Nudity in general is a pointless taboo. Repression does more harm than good when it comes to body image!
Somehow I was sick about hearing about strippers within 20 seconds of this video starting. Sometimes issues are so hilariously straight forward that talking about them for more than a few seconds is wearing.
People can do whatever they want if they're not hurting anybody.
People always like to bring up thing like its exploitation, degrading etc like that is reason enough....
Many people do jobs where they are exploited or feel used, abused, degraded, etc... and many do it for minimum wage.
As long as someone is doing a job of there own free will and sees any negative points worth it for the money, then its no one else's business to tell them they shouldn't.
I went to a stip club for my bucks night. My fiance had never been to a bucks night so I invited her along. Which was good because alot of our mutual female fiends were coming too. It was a good night.
I think we view nudity as a fun safe thing. I grew up in a nudist colony until I was about 20. And my wife is just so non-judgemental about things nothing seems to bother her. I've never really gotten the whole exploitation thing, especially as it only seems to apply to female strippers.
@SpinozasPsyche That's a good point. It always pisses me off when people lose their shit and make narrow-minded assumptions about female strippers and try to shame them for choosing that line of work, but have no problem when men do it. They're actually cheered on for it in some ways. I've seen footage of women at male strip clubs and they're much crazier than men are with female strippers. It all comes back down to the "men are tough and women are weak" bullshit.
I agree, I had a drawing class at Kent State, drawing both male and female nude models and though it was a bit awkward at first, it eventually became just drawing a nude model. I have mixed feelings about strip clubs though, not so much about the stripping, but rather that most of the strippers I've met had various mental health issues and expensive drug abuse habits that they had to finance.
I think meridianfrost had a more thoughtful meta argument. The ultimate issue here is, the only reason this is even being discussed (disgusted?) is because of Christianities vilifying of nudity.
But seriously, I'm surprised that the "strippers are exploited" argument still exists. Seems a bit outdated to me. But then, I'm surprised that some people still believe that vaccinations cause autism. Oh well.
You brought up a good point. With the man getting exploited. Maybe at one time the females got exploited but it is certainly not that way now. There is no more white knight general rule. Arguing over a woman's rights is like arguing over the rights of volcanoes. They do what they want, just like men.
Poor Jack! Sexually repressed, brainwashed, introvert. Probably wants his dam dinner served piping hot at 6:00 on the bell.
A word Jack, (Bow chica bow bow) Women like to get a little freak on.
Have a good trip to Texas and other trips as well. I agree with you. there is nothing wrong with stripers. i never been to strip club, but I can asume there is nothing special about it cuz I saw naked woman anyway. It's not a sin to go to the strip club and dance with a naked woman/man even if you're in relationship. It's not cheating, it's just bullshit. I wouldn't spend money for strippers because this is just a waste of money. I have more important things to spend my money for.
I used to see strippers every now and then when I was young - early 20's. I enjoyed it, but it was far more enjoyable when the stripper could actually dance. I also like artistic nude photos in black and white. So I'm probably one of those people who likes that kind of thing on a few different levels simutaneously. I don't deny for a second the sexual component of it, but bringing some artistry or skill takes it to a level. I think they are better that way.
I personally cannot fathom why people thinks that nudity is something to be shameful. It may be sexual, but it's more of a beauty thing. It has to do with admiration, which can be the same with models who are wearing clothes as well, and it doesn't have to be all about sex.
My admiring a woman's beauty has been always what it sounds like; 'admiring a woman's beuty'. Nothing else. Yes, there is a sexual element involved in it but I really, really, reject the notion that that makes it somehow bad. Maybe somebody's sexuality involves some ugly things, like disrespect but, pardon me; mine doesn't. My sexuality is a perfectly BEAUTIFUL thing. When I admire a women, it is an absolutely PURE and beautiful phenomenon and there is NOTHING ugly about it; just admiration&resp
What people do with their own bodies on private property is their business, provided they are acting of their own free will and not causing harm to anybody else. If you don't like strippers, don't go to a strip club. Simple as that. It's not like they're forcing the strippers to work there... at least not in the Western World... usually... I hope... :(
@LogicalThinker667 Your response is not logical. When you tell someone "fuck you", that is a sure sign of anger. I'd suggest letting the whore suck you off, perhaps you could give her herpies on the right side as well.
@happyninslave all the stupid it burns, I say you are using an Ad hominem attacking the person since you obviously can't refute what she says, but don't worry intelligent discussion is not for all of us, since you seem so keen on attacking her rather than refuting her arguments like a real rationalist would
HA, if you were a guy you'd understand why nudity is always sexual. We're men. We can't go 5 seconds without thinking about sex. We're biologically hardwired to be stimulated by the sight of T&A. If a guy says that he wants to do a nude portrait of you for art's sake, what he's really saying is boobies, boobies, boobies.
@healthyaddict-Urban legend. Men do not think of sex any more than women do.
I'm sorry, but you're wrong there. Study after study has shown that men think about sex more than women. Here are the numbers from just one ABC Poll I found with a quick Google search. Think about sex every day men 70% women 34%. 43 percent of men think about sex several times a day; just 13 percent of women do that.
@TheNakedAtheist You may be right, but you really can't rely on online polls.
In general, women enjoy and think about sex as much as men do. *How* they think about sex differs, part of which has to do with the way we raise our girls vs boys.
I'll try and find a study for you. This is something we went over in one of my classes at the beginning of the quarter. Give me time to sift through my notes.
@healthyaddict-You may be right, but you really can't rely on online polls.
Yes I know, and that's why I mentioned there were numerous studies supporting it. I only threw out a poll to give you an idea of the things that the studies show.
-In general, women enjoy and think about sex as much as men do.
That my be true, or at least many people seem to want us to believe it's true. I think you were confusing the two things
Actually I doubt it's true that women on average enjoy sex as much as men either. I'm pretty sure that's a myth that sprung out of the women's movement of the 70's as a way of justifying womans sexuality as being acceptable at a time when sexually active women were branded as sluts, and whores. Not that they aren't still branded that way, but less so than they were.
@TheNakedAtheist I must reply sense I am here. I could only wish I could have the Orgasms most of the women I have known could have. Not just quality but quantity. You do know they are capable of many more than a man, And actually do enjoy it quite a bit more than we do. With us the sensation does not last but a few minutes. They can still be enjoying it an hour later. I am incredibly jealous. But I am just 1 person, well and the women I know of. BTW I'm not claiming to be a stud either
You're confusing capability with actuality. The fact that a woman may have the ability to experience multiple orgasms does not mean they enjoy having orgasms more. The fact that I'm a better basketball player than most women I know doesn't mean I enjoy playing basketball more.
Oh, and wasn't an online poll it was a professionally conducted poll that was published online, but I still didn't mean to equate it with the peer reviewed research that I initially referring to that supports the fact that women think less about sex than men.
@healthyaddict True, but it's a social construct that when we get naked we're doing it for sex. We are taught that if someone gets naked that it's for sex. That is not always the case, but christians in particular see it as such.
@healthyaddict Of course, and a lot of it depends on frame of mind, in my experience. I was reading 'Blink' for a paper I'm writing and Gladwell discusses priming. I would think that if you were to compare arousal between two groups, one viewing pornography, the other viewing nude portraits, there would be a significant difference.
Stating the obvious, many Christians are taught that people are "slaves to the flesh", that humans are "carnal", and "worldly". They may also believe that the devil makes people lust. As a man, I can appreciate a beautiful woman's or mans body without wanting to get it on, while those with a warped and immature frame of reference still see "nudity as a hole." (sic)
@healthyaddict i really don't think that is true. Men have 10 times as much testosterone as women. While women have it as well, I think the sheer difference there would account for a marked difference in the amount of libido between the sexes.
@healthyaddict Women only produce tiny amounts of androgens, whereas men produce huge cyclic secretions, and these hormones increase sex drive. Thus, men really do think of sex more often than women. This is all very well researched.
Stripping is not exploitation of women, or men for that matter. It's a mutual employment. Same goes for prostitution - mutual employment. If one sees sex work as a dirty job, then flipping burgers and busing tables are wrong, to that logic. C'mon, be honest you anti-feminists (since it HAS to be anti-feminist to look down on women, and men, for sex work) are only against women's choice of stripping based on your beliefs - and mostly it's just religious bullshit.
@endauthority Almost true. But some, if not half, of strippers do it because they genuinely like it. Not just because of hard times. And even then, it's NOT hurting anything - maybe except the sensitive feelings of angry Christians.
@streetcrazykenny the problem is that capitalism is naturally exploitative. if youve ever done something you dont want to do, but did because you needed money then you are exploited.
so yeah, its hurting something. And you definitely require statistics to back up your claim before I accept it.
@endauthority The problem is with people like you who blindly refuse to separate rationality and logic from irrational "morality". Capitalism is NOT an enemy - whoever told you that fairness is equal either lied to you or just one of the weak and scared people who refuses to learn economics.
Statistics? The perfect one: Alcohol Prohibition in the 1920's.
@streetcrazykenny Capitalism is the enemy to free people due to the fact that it requires unequal power relationships which means exploitation is constant.
the social science of capitalist economics(economics isnt strictly capitalist) is NOT objective truth. No social science has acquired that kind of objectivity.
Thats not a statistic, its a historical event, and if you cited statistics from it, it would be unrelated to the discussion. You are in waaaaay over your head
@endauthority Another problem with people like you is that you are either unmotivated or apathetic to the fact that YOU can start a business - or even better, have the CHOICE to indulge in goods and services of the established businesses. These corporations you feel you need to hate, started out like you - just a struggling person.
All forms of Prohibitions (except slavery) have PROVED without doubt to fail and are OBVIOUSLY motivated by blind religion. If you STILL need statistics you're blind
@streetcrazykenny dont tell me what my problems are until you actually see my problems. Right now you are guessing and hoping it sticks.
Yup, I can start a business. Thats not the point im making at all. Im not struggling either, in the past three weeks ive earned over 5 thousand dollars. Thats not struggling.
Im not talking about prohibition, you retard. Get it through your head.
Yes, you still need statistics to back up your retarded claims
Exploitation of women is why a woman turned to stripping. It is a taboo way for an exploited girl to make a comeback.
US minimum wage is $7.25, in ON Canada its $10.25. And basic medical costs, like seeing a specialist doctor or having a surgery, is free.
To strip, or to work in an entry minimum wage job in USA?
Morality never frowns upon what is necessary for survival. Your job is to make unnecessary in our society, that which we frown upon. Frowning on strippers for stripping is stupid.
You were married? But you're like... 12! Damn, life has passed me by! I think going to see strippers or anything similar is basically cheating. I think the word 'devoted' should mean 'that' and feel like that. Whatever the crappy culture throws at you. A kind of tantric (or something) love is the only kind of love worth anything. If two people allow themselves to join on the deepest level then doing something that might cause an uncomfortable feeling in the other person simply doesn't compute.
@healthyaddict Neato. I haven't heard of that. I can see advantages and disadvantages to that system. It's great, for example, that you switch material every quarter instead of every semester -- it means a broader variety in your education and keeps things exciting. But I don't know if I could get over the big disadvanatage -- exams 4 times a year!
Well, first I think we need to pinpoint what is meant by "exploitation" and I think in the context it's meaning "using something in an unjust or cruel manner." If we are only talking about strippers that are of age and not under duress, I think it's no different than any other job people may see as degrading. Like say janitorial staff or washing dishes, some might not mind, some may hate it and find it degrading, and some may take pride in their work. I don't think the nakedness is relevant.
I don't think stripping is such a bad thing, though I haven't been to a strip club since I was in New Orleans, In 1999. But posing for an art class would be more for art. or for anatomical study. Does that make sense?
Not that I'm going to be very original here, but I don't hear opinions like this among my peers very often, and hearing it from you is rather refreshing. I agree in totality, as does my girlfriend.
I agree with you. I was a stripper and the only time I felt that it wasn't empowering was when everyone else tried to put me down for doing it.

TheRulezzzzzz 1 year ago

It's not like they're forcing the strippers to work there... at least not in the Western World... usually... I hope... :(

TheNakedAtheist 1 year ago
@TheNakedAtheist You may be right, but you really can't rely on online polls.
In general, women enjoy and think about sex as much as men do. *How* they think about sex differs, part of which has to do with the way we raise our girls vs boys.
I'll try and find a study for you. This is something we went over in one of my classes at the beginning of the quarter. Give me time to sift through my notes.
healthyaddict 1 year ago
@healthyaddict-You may be right, but you really can't rely on online polls.
Yes I know, and that's why I mentioned there were numerous studies supporting it. I only threw out a poll to give you an idea of the things that the studies show.
-In general, women enjoy and think about sex as much as men do.
That my be true, or at least many people seem to want us to believe it's true. I think you were confusing the two things
TheNakedAtheist 1 year ago
Continued..
TheNakedAtheist 1 year ago
@TheNakedAtheist I must reply sense I am here. I could only wish I could have the Orgasms most of the women I have known could have. Not just quality but quantity. You do know they are capable of many more than a man, And actually do enjoy it quite a bit more than we do. With us the sensation does not last but a few minutes. They can still be enjoying it an hour later. I am incredibly jealous. But I am just 1 person, well and the women I know of. BTW I'm not claiming to be a stud either
pumpstations 1 year ago
@pumpstations
You're confusing capability with actuality. The fact that a woman may have the ability to experience multiple orgasms does not mean they enjoy having orgasms more. The fact that I'm a better basketball player than most women I know doesn't mean I enjoy playing basketball more.
TheNakedAtheist 1 year ago
Continued...
Oh, and wasn't an online poll it was a professionally conducted poll that was published online, but I still didn't mean to equate it with the peer reviewed research that I initially referring to that supports the fact that women think less about sex than men.

@healthyaddict So both genders are voracious perverts?
demonjacobs666 1 year ago
@healthyaddict True, but it's a social construct that when we get naked we're doing it for sex. We are taught that if someone gets naked that it's for sex. That is not always the case, but christians in particular see it as such.

RosieDesire 1 year ago
@healthyaddict Of course, and a lot of it depends on frame of mind, in my experience. I was reading 'Blink' for a paper I'm writing and Gladwell discusses priming. I would think that if you were to compare arousal between two groups, one viewing pornography, the other viewing nude portraits, there would be a significant difference.
JPC009 1 year ago
@JPC009
If both groups are 12 Year old boys, probably no difference, it takes a few years to coral those pesky hormons...
bigfatbaataed 1 year ago
@bigfatbaataed Agreed, so using inductive logic it seems that TogtherForPeace is roughly 12. ;)
JPC009 1 year ago
Stating the obvious, many Christians are taught that people are "slaves to the flesh", that humans are "carnal", and "worldly". They may also believe that the devil makes people lust. As a man, I can appreciate a beautiful woman's or mans body without wanting to get it on, while those with a warped and immature frame of reference still see "nudity as a hole." (sic)
wingetkids 1 year ago
@healthyaddict i really don't think that is true. Men have 10 times as much testosterone as women. While women have it as well, I think the sheer difference there would account for a marked difference in the amount of libido between the sexes.

"Urban legend"
Urban legend is the "5 or 7 seconds" claim. Men in general do think more often about sex than women do.
For example see:
webmd(.)com/sex/features/sex-drive-how-do-men-women-compare
Wrath0fKhan 1 year ago 5
@healthyaddict Women only produce tiny amounts of androgens, whereas men produce huge cyclic secretions, and these hormones increase sex drive. Thus, men really do think of sex more often than women. This is all very well researched.

Stripping is not exploitation of women, or men for that matter. It's a mutual employment. Same goes for prostitution - mutual employment. If one sees sex work as a dirty job, then flipping burgers and busing tables are wrong, to that logic. C'mon, be honest you anti-feminists (since it HAS to be anti-feminist to look down on women, and men, for sex work) are only against women's choice of stripping based on your beliefs - and mostly it's just religious bullshit.
streetcrazykenny 1 year ago
heres why the woman is getting exploited: how many women would be strippers if it wasnt for their own economic down turns? money or death
endauthority 1 year ago
@endauthority Almost true. But some, if not half, of strippers do it because they genuinely like it. Not just because of hard times. And even then, it's NOT hurting anything - maybe except the sensitive feelings of angry Christians.
streetcrazykenny 1 year ago
@streetcrazykenny the problem is that capitalism is naturally exploitative. if youve ever done something you dont want to do, but did because you needed money then you are exploited.
so yeah, its hurting something. And you definitely require statistics to back up your claim before I accept it.
endauthority 1 year ago
@endauthority The problem is with people like you who blindly refuse to separate rationality and logic from irrational "morality". Capitalism is NOT an enemy - whoever told you that fairness is equal either lied to you or just one of the weak and scared people who refuses to learn economics.
Statistics? The perfect one: Alcohol Prohibition in the 1920's.
streetcrazykenny 1 year ago
@streetcrazykenny Capitalism is the enemy to free people due to the fact that it requires unequal power relationships which means exploitation is constant.
the social science of capitalist economics(economics isnt strictly capitalist) is NOT objective truth. No social science has acquired that kind of objectivity.
Thats not a statistic, its a historical event, and if you cited statistics from it, it would be unrelated to the discussion. You are in waaaaay over your head
endauthority 1 year ago
@endauthority Another problem with people like you is that you are either unmotivated or apathetic to the fact that YOU can start a business - or even better, have the CHOICE to indulge in goods and services of the established businesses. These corporations you feel you need to hate, started out like you - just a struggling person.
All forms of Prohibitions (except slavery) have PROVED without doubt to fail and are OBVIOUSLY motivated by blind religion. If you STILL need statistics you're blind
streetcrazykenny 1 year ago
@streetcrazykenny dont tell me what my problems are until you actually see my problems. Right now you are guessing and hoping it sticks.
Yup, I can start a business. Thats not the point im making at all. Im not struggling either, in the past three weeks ive earned over 5 thousand dollars. Thats not struggling.
Im not talking about prohibition, you retard. Get it through your head.

Spanky00Cheeks 1 year ago
You were married? But you're like... 12! Damn, life has passed me by! I think going to see strippers or anything similar is basically cheating. I think the word 'devoted' should mean 'that' and feel like that. Whatever the crappy culture throws at you. A kind of tantric (or something) love is the only kind of love worth anything. If two people allow themselves to join on the deepest level then doing something that might cause an uncomfortable feeling in the other person simply doesn't compute.

JackofOneTrade567 1 year ago
Well, first I think we need to pinpoint what is meant by "exploitation" and I think in the context it's meaning "using something in an unjust or cruel manner." If we are only talking about strippers that are of age and not under duress, I think it's no different than any other job people may see as degrading. Like say janitorial staff or washing dishes, some might not mind, some may hate it and find it degrading, and some may take pride in their work. I don't think the nakedness is relevant.
