  • I saw this show... it was excellent. Great sound. Marching and snares were a little "iffy" at times... but it was early in the year.

As far as comparing UCA and Henderson... all I can say., is visit each campus. The difference is clear.

  • haha poor Sarah Pulfer in the pit! She was so mad that they changed the marching band rule for performance majors the year after.

  • Well you know what....

    fuck you all lol

cause i worked my ASS off for this show

    J

  • Ok, i don't care what anyone says, I love the UCA marching abdn, and am actually a rookie on the coorguard next year {my freshmen year} and I have performed Maleguenia and loved it, its even better when UCA plays it.

  • Malaguena is a classic band tune -- people like it, that's why it gets played so often. Reddieclarient, you probably don't realize that most college bands recycle their shows every few years; it's quite common. As long as no one currently in the band has played the song, it's eligible. Oh, Skinnyboyy, you're still an idiot.

  • you mother doesnt think so.....

  • wow that is really childish but it is true you are still an idiot cause you don't know how to appreciate real good music playing, but oh well let me guess all you know is what you hwear on the radio broden your horizens skinnyboyy you might learn something

  • Idiot..WOW..hurtful words. Its not my fault the band cant march and chew bubble gum at the same time..get over..practice harder and perform something exciting u dickmouth

  • can we say boring, sound like they are at the opera..search for UAPB band and see how to march and play at the same time

  • In reply to this little boy who can't appreciate good music and marching. First off lets explain the difference between the two schools. One is a primarly white school and the other one is primarly blck. I attend UCA and I am in that band I actually marched in that show. We busted our asses and no we don't sound like an opera we sound like a marching band that had dynamics we can play soft, loud, and any dynamic in between.

  • yeah u gius did sound pretty good, too bad no one could hear u at that game..now i've heard u guys blowing your asses before, people just think the music could have more appeal to it, doesnt have to hit hop, it could be pop or anything, and can u guys play a cadence for once and stop just walking to your places on the field

  • Well Well actually they could hear us and that was not at a game. If you notice in the video there isn't anyone sitting on the visitor side. This is at the Arkansas Open Marching Contest.

  • can we say boring, sound like they are at the opera..search for UAPB band and see how to march and play at the same time

  • Lol all they do Is dance. Real "marching" band huh.

  • get the mallot out your ass and learn to walk and play at the same time...lmao

  • Why? For an excuse to not march?

  • haha. we played pirates. the year before you all did. im my high school band. i was here :D GCT

    <3 trumpet

  • Hey Andrew, it's me Stephen.

    <3 tenor sax

  • Is HSU too ashamed to post any of their band stuff on Youtube or what?

  • Nah, just no one bothers to post. I would if I could get ahold of some video.

  • From someone not even associated with anything in Arkansas I've always thought the same thing. Actually, I have found henderson state to be extremely over-hyped...their marching band and music dept as a whole. I have yet to be impressed with anything from there but to hear their graduates and students talk you'd think it was the Univ. of Michigan. Hardly, though, they need to get and realize that there are much better music depts and marching bands within a few hundred mile radius.

  • And before people get all mad at me for saying what I said...I don't even start at Henderson until this fall and I have nothing against you all at UCA.

  • Sorry...not 10, probably 15, but that's still too many times.

  • Seriously...Malaguena is one of the most overplayed marching tunes out there and I know my band director from hs can remember 2 times that UCA played it in the past 10 years - now a 3rd? Please find a new tune if you do another latin show. Nothing against you all, you're all great musicians, but it gets old.

  • Conway should have the music award at this contest. But that's just my opinion

  • Im in Conway Highs School Band and i loved playing Malaguena, its great hearing UCA play it

  • lol My brother goes to UCA

  • My school was here too..(cutter morning star). UCA did good one this one..

  • wow.. i go to southside in fort smith and we played this.. it sounded very very good and we didn't play it as fast as this.. and i think i liked the percussion part daniel rice wrote for ours better than this.. but this was still VERY good of course.

  • this was a great show i saw it at the greenbrier invitational and the Region vi contest but i don't see how malaguena is a pirate song.

  • yay! i was here too. parkview. <33 i love this show. it gets me all excited.

  • Hey theusedsk8monkey, I'm in your band. Haha, I remember this contest. We got best brass, 2nd best show score overall, 2nd show in our class, 2nd best drum majors, and 2nd best soloist for our Malaguena trombone solo. That was a great contest. Wish us percussion could have done better though.

  • i was in this contest, and my band (Conway High School) played Malaguena as well.

  • my gift to you

    Jon

  • This is a great recording of us, but isn't it a little trumpet-heavy? I'm a trumpet and I think there's too much of us. Maybe a little more diversity in the shots would be beneficial.
