This is just speculation but i think one possibility is that since there is a girl who was obviously in rapture in the new teaser trailer maybe the sequel will be about how she escaped, whether she was going to be forced to be a little sister and her parents had to escape during the rapture civil or some other circumstance.

(for others reading the comments this is to bran147012) that would explain why articles where saying that NO officail info at all 4 bioshock 2 would be released until bioshock for the ps3 shipped. (and why the sea of dreams trailer came out on the same day as bioshock for ps3)
i don't think its a prequel because in the ps3 version there is a trailer for the game and it has a little sister on a beach, meaning that the good ending was the real ending and in the trailer it showed rapture being created in the sand. i think that this means rapture is going to come to the surface. maybe i took that to literal though but i also speculate that fontaine did not die.
You guys must be crazy to want a prequel. I admit watching a utopia slowly deteriorate into catastrophe is an interesting premise for a game, but we all know what's going to happen, we even know how it's going to happen. What would Bioshock's story be without the element of surprise?
A prequel could be really cool. Instead of seeing the wreckage and knowing what happened, from the audio diaries, you'd see the city as it was, and watch it get torn apart by strife.
In my opinion, it wouldn't be as deep and subtle, but I haven't played it yet.

good thought about the little sister, ti3nt, but think about it: how can you make a sequel to a game that has multiple endings? Have two different games for each storyline? that would just mean they both would be shitty. I had to come to terms with this reality when i realized the new Deus Ex game couldn't be a sequel. God i loved Invisible War. Does anyone know if I can play that on the 360 if i find the game (i lost it) or get a new one? that game was the shit.

This is just speculation but i think one possibility is that since there is a girl who was obviously in rapture in the new teaser trailer maybe the sequel will be about how she escaped, whether she was going to be forced to be a little sister and her parents had to escape during the rapture civil or some other circumstance.

Then you say flash backs will account for the sequel half? So the game takes place before bioshock 1 but flash backs will account for the sequel part, which is not possible.

i think that bioshock 2 is gonna be great. the sea of dreams trailer made it look even more epic than we thought. i dun care if u play as ryan, fontaine, a big daddy, dallas star (as said by slashnpraise) i dun even care if you play as a little sister. bioshock 2 is gonna be fun no matter what, but ppl should wait for more stuff to be released about bioshock 2 before they start to try and sound smart with their "educated guesses. (cause most of the time, early guesses are DEAD WRONG!!)

you play a rouge who went against ryan. he'll send his goons after you the first part of the game and since its the prequal some of the citizens will come after you to that are over splised, so basicly it's before rapture went to hell. it's called BIOSHOCK 2 SEA OF DREAMS.

i don't think its a prequel because in the ps3 version there is a trailer for the game and it has a little sister on a beach, meaning that the good ending was the real ending and in the trailer it showed rapture being created in the sand. i think that this means rapture is going to come to the surface. maybe i took that to literal though but i also speculate that fontaine did not die.

You guys must be crazy to want a prequel. I admit watching a utopia slowly deteriorate into catastrophe is an interesting premise for a game, but we all know what's going to happen, we even know how it's going to happen. What would Bioshock's story be without the element of surprise?

A prequel could be really cool. Instead of seeing the wreckage and knowing what happened, from the audio diaries, you'd see the city as it was, and watch it get torn apart by strife.
In my opinion, it wouldn't be as deep and subtle, but I haven't played it yet.

ok i do have a few things to say y i dont think they will...a prequil thats just stupid he is sent away from bioshcok when hes 2 and what r u gunna be a splicer LAME...and in one ending u die of old age and in the other u satrt the end of the wrold...theres only one way they could make it...was if u went back to rapture to escape the nukes u set off by staring the end of the world...but then what would u do u have they key to the city and everything listenes to u except the big daddys...

good thought about the little sister, ti3nt, but think about it: how can you make a sequel to a game that has multiple endings? Have two different games for each storyline? that would just mean they both would be shitty. I had to come to terms with this reality when i realized the new Deus Ex game couldn't be a sequel. God i loved Invisible War. Does anyone know if I can play that on the 360 if i find the game (i lost it) or get a new one? that game was the shit.

The original Half Life had two different endings: either work with the mysterious G-Man, or get dropped in a room full of enemies without your weapons. The sequel, Half Life 2, assumes that you chose to work with the G-Man. If Bioshock 2 is a prequel, then there could also be a default, cannon error. If it is a sequel, then one of the endings for the original must be a default.

If Wikipedia is to be believed, Half Life is the granddaddy (or should I say Big Daddy? :chuckle:) of the modern first person shooter genre. Yes, there were FPSs before HL, but HL and the team at Valve set new standards for the genre. For example, an immersive story line and realistic portrayal of weapons and other equipment within the environment.
One last thing: Guiness Book of World Records "Best-Selling First-Person Shooter of All Time (PC)"
If you like Bioshock, you will love Half Life.

Yeah, its Firefox, my mistake. They could still have a sequel to Bioshock, even if there was two endings, it would just have to follow the canonical ending, which would probably be the one where he saved the sisters.
