  • Man, this is one sharp mother fucker!

  • God I'm gonna cry when he dies. So many childhood memories.

  • Bob Barker should be frozen like Walt Disney

  • @ssalcyxalag I did not know that

  • I doubt you would be able to get away with that indian line in the present day

  • f*** me a sail boat!

  • The hair isn't the highlight of this clip. It's the eternally babe-o-licious Holly.

  • im the 99,999th veiwer!!!!

  • Quite possibly one of the most loveable and beloved personalities in all of television history.

  • question: on the 2nd player to come on down, what was the "122" tag beneath his name tag for?

  • when i was about 7-8 yrs old when he has started to wear the gray hair..., to me he kind of look like george washington, to from quite a distance, doing the price lol... Jason+

  • I wonder if the carpet matches the drapes.

  • @MilwaukeeIrishJoe What a hoot leaving THAT comment! Sounds like you would be a friend of mine ;)

  • Cooooome on doooooowwwwn! Never get it out of my head! Loved the Bob Barker days!

  • Before this show he was forced in having sex with Diane Parkenson.. barkers was so pissed off what she did to him.. he was absolutly humiliated by her condect..

  • He looks much better with gray hair. Dyeing it makes a person look stupid.

  • Look, the 80s.

  • My mom was on the show in late 1986, and Bob's hair was gray on that episode (I have the video)

  • When this man dies (perish the thought!) I wonder how TPIR will commemorate him

  • When was this episode taped?

  • If we all would age as gracefully, the world would be a happier place.

  • he still looks sexy

  • Wasn't he about late 50s-early 60s when he started doing TPIR?

  • @chrismc410 No, it was the 70's

  • @WheelWatcher12345 I meant in age as in 50-60 years old.

  • @chrismc410 Sorry about that, he was 39.

  • @WheelWatcher12345 I mean, he was 49.

  • I thought he had cancer when I first saw the grey!Thang God It wasn't that!

  • @asaleiri No... Pretty much cause he had a heck of an evening last night and....

If STILL DON'T like his hair like that write to.. 2:38 lol- Still love you Kathy. JKing ya.

  • do the drapes match the carpet ? ?

  • WTF is Fingers Grecko? That's pretty much the worst name ever

  • @copyright1982

    She gives really good handjobs.

  • @copyright1982 Her real name is Kathy. Fingers ia a nickname

  • 64 and his skin was still pretty smooth/etc... botox?

  • I think I saw my last TPIR where Bob had dark hair around 1983. I didn't watch it again until around 1990 when I stayed home sick from work. That was a total SHOCK seeing him with gray hair...it made ME feel old!

  • In my opinion Bob looked much better with Dark Hair.

  • He kinda looks like Joe BIden.

  • "heeree it coooooooooooooooooooooooooomes!"

sounds like a line from a bad porno hahahahahah

  • mtiller2006 has the full episodes of his first and last days of his hair changes, check them out.

  • gatta love that sailboat :)

  • When Bob Barker hosted, this was THE best show on television - ever. (still a decent show, though)

  • First episode of "grey hair?" Amazing!!!

  • I was just starting 1st grade as all this was happening.

  • @ylwapple45 : i just finshed 1st grade AND im 49 LOL JK.

  • What kinda sailboat is that!!

  • I remember watching this live as a kid.

  • wow, I was born this year and I never watched him with dark hair before, so this is the way I always remembered him looking.

  • Holy shit, I actually rememeber this! I was 4 at the time, and wasn't sure if it was really him at first! :p

  • i was 11 months old, i saw this, and i was amazed-at 11 months.

  • Rich has always done an alright job as announcer but, he's still not Johnny Olson or Rod Roddy. I really wonder how the ratings have gone since Bob Barker retired?

  • i think i know DOWN

  • ehhhh I guess its ok since drew took over someone should really tell GSN to air the throwbacks haha

  • @retroguy1976 I wish GSN would show the old episodes! But the problem is (according to wikipedia) they'd have to pay both CBS and Fremantle for the episodes and they dont' want to shell out the cash

  • It's still NUMBER #1 it said on the internet

  • The show is not the same anymore. The music has been revamped, the announcers?? NONE OF THEM will be Johhny Olson and Drew Carey will never be Bob Barker. As far as I am concerned, I rather watch those old classic reruns. It's legacy is gone. It's sad for someone like me who's been watching this since the late 70's early 80's

  • Before Rod Roddy and after Johnny Olson, was Gene Wood. Gene Wood was also the announcer for Family Feud and Classic Concentration.

  • As Bob got older, I always thought he looked SO much more 'distinguished' and maybe 'statesmanly' than when his hair was being colored to keep the gray out. He IS a man who has aged VERY well, I think. I hope he's enjoying his retirement. That show just isn't the same without him. I rarely watch it anymore. Drew Carey was a SORRY choice for a replacement but, I really can't think of anyone else who could've replaced Bob Barker, anyway. I don't think anyone can.

  • the graphics of the show and hairstyles of the ladies in the audience almost feels like 1977 then 1987. maybe there wasn't as much change in those decades as i remember

  • hahaha that boat is so tiny!

  • rod roddy 0:57 1:01 1:43 2:24 3:15!

  • ROD RODDY 0:43 1:32 2:32 3:05!

  • Boy did Rod sound more exited in this opening than ever

  • Too bad Rod's dead. :(

  • OMG i remember this episode when it aired on TV. thanks for the memories :)

  • when he dies its gona be insaneeeeee.

more devastation than with michael jackson

  • Thank you.

  • @ursocoolomg probably will be

  • @ursocoolomg u got that right bro!!! More devastating than MJ

  • @ursocoolomg ya just imagin when Betty White passes how much that will effect the world.

  • @ursocoolomg Not looking forward to that at all.

  • @ursocoolomg I will be watching nothing but old TPIRs for weeks, in bed with tissues and ice cream. depression

  • @ursocoolomg Bob will never die..

  • God bless Bob Barker. All-American man of red white and blue hair.

  • Bob is from Washington

  • Trivia: Bob Barker is from South Dakota...

  • Trivia: Bob first met his eventual wife in 1939

  • Not the same without Johnny Olson the announcer. He died in 1986 -- God I that's over 20 years ago. God! I can't beleive its that long ago.

By the way I don't understand why he didn't he give the email adress to write about his hair.

  • johnny died in oct 85

  • And on this episode Janice used chalk to turn Bob's hair white on the Punch-a-Bunch bill.

  • *lady in the back*

    we love your hair!!

  • An old Sioux Indian chant...didn't his mom teach on a Sioux reservation?

  • I NEVER GOT A STANDING OVATION when I DIED my hair !!! LOLOL!

  • thats because you're too stupid to know how to spell dye

  • lol

  • if thats the result of a (blind) date im never gonna try 1 LOL

  • Bob must have had one hell of a night...LOL

  • i just started the first grade in 1987

  • I remember first seeing Bob Barker with Gray Hair I was shocked as a kid and couldn't figure out why he went from black to gray suddenly. Then I was told it was because he was dying his hair. Well it became his trademark for the next 20 years he hosted the show.

  • bob's hair wasnt black it was brown.

  • bob 's last show with dark hair -

    tpir 1987-

  • I remeber when he first got the grey hair I was like what the heck but i got used to it for the next 20 yrs

  • It DID take me some time to get used to Bob's gray hair, but several shows after this one, I got used to seeing Bob walk through the big doors with gray hair, gosh, how I miss Bob Barker, I wish Fremantle Media or CBS could air two different Price is Right shows, like one during the day, with Bob as host, and a nighttime show, with Drew hosting that one, that might be a good concept, if Bob wanted to come back, he wouldn't have to do so many shows a week though.

  • haha and the "colorful sail" is grey too

  • The handle of his Sony mic is also grey! You noticed this? ;-)

  • They don't make that style of Microphone anymore ... it's a one of a kind mic ...it's the "Bob Barker" Mic... and I love Bob Barker with Gray or white hair or reddish brown hair...God I miss him hosting PIR!! I think Bob is really a handsome older man !! Bob Barker is the man who tells us to "Help Control The Pet Population...Have Your Pets Spayed or Neutered ..." love love Bob's smile and his awesome hair color.

  • You nailed it. Bob is the king. He never changed. He just grew gracefully with the show.

  • @SoulThing1981 I always thought that mic was more of the Match Game's mic

  • aww i love him, he's so happy

  • I think that Bob looks more distinguished with gray hair.

  • Oh Lord. I remember watching this and SHRIEKING when Bob came out with gray hair; when I saw this video, I thought the date would be from the mid-90s or so.

It was 21+ years ago. Holy......

  • He did dye his hair that color, of course. But, now he just lets it go!

  • Is Bob Barker the first game show host to have Gray hair?

  • I do believe he is!

  • As Jay Leno said during his interview where he announced his new show, "it's a young man's job". That may not be true today (with guys like Trebek and Philbin), but it was true in 1987. And Barker looks great with gray hair!

  • No I think Tom Kennedy came before Bob did.

  • Oh yeah, don't forget Allen Ludden.

  • Original Airdate: October 15, 1987

  • William forgot to remove his audience tag. I know they make sure everyone removes them before starting the taping.

  • That two months after I was born!!!!!!

  • I don't remember Bob with brown-red hair, nor do I remember Johnny Olson as an announcer. I didn't start really paying attention until 1990, when I was 9 years old. It is great to see these videos, though.

  • Ahh11 Goold old Johnny !! I'm 31, so I remember the Johhny Olson days as well as the nightime price is right with Tom Kennedy ( in 85-86 ). All of those good old days are gone. But thanks to the Internet, we can watch em. Today's stuff just sucks and doesnt have any legacy.

  • Amen to that. The Price is Right is not nearly what it is with Drew Carey as it was with Bob. I actually watched during the Johnny Olsen days, but don't actually remember him. I didn't really pay attention to Rod Roddy much either until they started showing him.

I also didn't know that he colored it to be this color. There was a period that I stopped watching and I just figured it got gray on its own.

  • no u

  • My dad is 63 and he colores his hair, I applaud Bob for having the courage to show his true colors, in the end his is stronger for it.

  • wow, the audience is so small compared to now

  • As far as I know the current audience size is 325. The UK one used to be about 300.

  • I heard its about 335.

  • miss the 80s

  • I was stunned when I first saw Bob with gray hair...(been watching TPIR since the early 80s)

  • Well it's his signature and I like it like this.

  • I never said I hated it, I just said I was surprised when he suddenly changed to gray. Now, I look back at the old Bob with colored hair and find it odd.

  • Sorry!

  • Tis okay ;)

  • even tylenol donen't make me feel beter. when i was sick and had to stay home from school watching bob always made me feel beter.

  • I wasw just thinking that exact same thing!

  • You and me both!!! Who can feel bad when watching this show?

  • One of Bob's best moments.

  • Bob's hair here looks dyed.

  • Listening to that open reminds me why Rod Roddy made the sad loss of Johnny Olson a lot less painful.

And gotta love Bob, 20 years younger than when he retired! I remember watching him when I was going to kindergarten, and he was even more of a ironman than he is now!

  • keepin his pimp hand strong

  • I found a "report profile image violation" but nothing about reporting inappropriate comments, or something like that.

  • I just wanted to know how to report somebody, and I could not find out how to do it using the information I was provided. I'd like to know that way I can report them if somebody says something disrespectful to me. You don't need to insult me. In fact, I could probably report you for that, but I won't.

  • How do you report a member?

  • I like how Rod said "Here it cooomes!" and introducing Bob that time. Giving a clue to us that something different was about to happen. ;)

  • Love Bob Barker and his gray (and white) hair

  • Whoever all keeps saying that Bob is dead he is NOT dead. He is just not hosting TPIR anymore. He is retired after 35 wonderful years. Miss seeing you on the show

  • lol, it's OK

  • what is the announcer name before rich fields. I can't rememeber his name.

  • Before Rich took over annoucing duties they rotated between Randy West and Burton Richardson who now annouces for Family Fued.

  • You are thinking of Rod Roddy! RIP

  • Thank you, he was a fun announcer.

  • You should see the Price is Right crew playing Family Feud. Bob, Rod, and the Barker Beauties!! I know they did it when Ray Combs hosted, and I believe they may have been on with Dawson too.

  • Bob, Rod, and the Barker Beauties were not on the Family Feud when Richard Dawson returned.

  • rod roddy

  • Bob was great, sail boat was cheap though!

  • mark goodson special great

first show with hair grey bob

  • RIP might mean Retire in piece in this case.

  • Bob's had grey hair longer than i've been alive!

  • bob seemed to look a lot younger with grey hair than he did with dark in the 80s

  • No, he shaved it in 2001...I watched a "Jeopardy!" that was aired in the fall of 2000, and Alex Trebek still had his moustache on...according to what Wikipedia, and J! Archives say, Alex shaved it in the 18th season (fall of 2001)...

  • How did Rod change his voice though? Or I should ask, speaking as an announcer. What adjustments did he make from this point on?

  • Rod Sounds like he's Nervous to bring Bob out.

  • 14 or 15 years later... another shock to game show fans. Can you guess who I'm talking about?

  • I'm gonna take a guess...Alex Trebek shaving his moustache that time?? Lol...

  • You got it.

  • Isn't this the first episode where Bob Barker was also the Executive Producer as well?

  • No, it wasn't until 1988. Frank Wayne, who created Plinko, was the Executive Producer from 1972 until his death. Bob Barker later became Executive Producer of "The Price Is Right" after Frank Wayne died in 1988.

  • And as of now, Syd Vinnedge is the Executive Producer of "The Price is Right"...

  • "Bob, you must of had one hell of a night!!" No not really. This was actually the first show taped after a two month taping break.

  • His "blind date" reference was great!
