Ask yourself: Why is it that back in the day, before govt-managed HMOs, people used to pay cash for doctor visits and used insurance only for unforeseen major expenses? I believe it was started by a king in france who wanted to watch women give birth, as a sexual turn on. (It's good to be king.) An interesting note about the hospitals, one of the greatest advances in preventing infanting mortality came when a doctor figured out that there would be less infections if the doctors washed their hands between autopsies and gynocological exams. ( I believe he was fired from at least one hosp. before it caught on.)

Corporate lobbyists are a serious problem, and should be banned; but, ultimately, it's the corporate greed machine that needs to be eliminated. bossman: Health insurance is NOT health care. Whomever provides for the doctors, nurses and ancillary staff to treat you for your illnesses, injuries or maintenance will not change how they care for you. You couldn't do what those people do (for any amount of money) if you didn't truly care. Especially where the nurses and aides are concerned. Just think of the gallons of blood, mucus, crap, piss and puss they have to wade through on a daily basis- not to mention the stench of festering wounds.
