  • Je engels is goed maar je uitspraak is zoooooo nederlands :P

  • are you dutch?

  • how is your gimp black?

  • Thanks :)

  • Thank you! I've watched at least a dozen other vids on removing background and they were terriable. They never fully explained. Then I found yours.....perfect. Once again thank you.

  • For some reason I don't have that toolbar thing on the left, only the toolbox.

  • @Toxinia Look on my channel. There's a video on how to fix lost docks etc.

  • @Toxinia i know you posted this a while. but here's a quick way. go to "windows"

"recently closed docs" and select the "layers .... etc. " bar ( it should be the only bar there )

  • the outside wont go away!

  • @ChenGalaxy01 If you're on a Mac, go to edit>clear instead of pressing delete on your keyboard.

If you're not on a Mac then make sure you've made a selection. the line you've made with the lasso tool must be moving. Like a sort of moving dotted line.

  • do you know how to move what you select with the lasso tool? because in my drawing the legs of my character are to long and i want to shorten them without erasing it.

  • @7cloudvsleon8 First make the cut out. Make sure it's on its own layer, then select around the legs with the rectangle select tool. Then use the scale tool.

  • i <3 u ;)

  • Thank you very much =)

  • That's good!

    Are You Dutch???

    You sound really dutch.:)

  • @gr8impact4all Goh, hoe zou dat nou komen? ;-)

  • and if am right you sound dutch

  • i luv ur voice so relaxing

  • i just want to say, thank you so much, ive had gimp for a while and it just hasnt been clicking, but thanks to this video i finally get it.

  • For some reason my layer menu that is on the left on your video has disappeared. Is there a way to get it back?

  • @bioniclefan999 See the top video on my channel, or the FAQ, or both.

  • @bioniclefan999 go to the top and click windows and click recently closed dialogs and click layers

  • When i'm done tracing, I go to connect the points, but then the what I trace is gone, do you know why?

  • @Samiesmiles9 In your tool options under the toolbox is a square arrow in the right bottom corner. Hold shift and click on that arrow. That way you'll reset the tool options and it will work like it should again.

  • Thanks so much, helped a lot

  • Go to my channel. My rost recent video will tell you how.

  • @GIMPtricks *most recent

  • How do i get my tool bar back, i have the one on the right with the crop loop thing but the one on the left i by mistake deleted it with the x button and i cant get it back :(

  • I just downloaded GIMP and I find your tutorials very very helpful

Thanks a lot for them! :D

    btw: are you Dutch?

  • @Son0fDeath Thanks and yes. :)

  • @Son0fDeath its not dutch its german people often mistake them :)

  • @linkanparkfan Dutch = Nederlands (language spoken in the netherlands)

German = Duits (language spoken in Germany

or isn't that what you meant?

  • I'm using 2.6, is there a way to undo an anchor point while using the free select tool? Seems like it should be simple but I can't find it

  • @arkitech515 You can drag an anchorpoint to another place if you want to move it... Just click on it and drag it to somewhere else while still holding in your mouse-button (I'm not English so please don't mind any faults in my explanaiton)

    that should do it :)

  • very instructive

  • Baumi beat you :) - youtube . com/watch?v=LUMN0H5ZSK4

  • @mikethedj4 What do you mean beat me? Very time consuming and carpal tunnel inducing but amazing end result!! Respect.

  • @GIMPtricks Baumi did the tut before you (I'm behind on videos of subscriptions lol)

  • @mikethedj4 No, Baumi didn't. This is an old tut of mine that was uploaded Jan 2010, theirs Sept 2010. The thread was bumped on gimp chat.

  • @GIMPtricks Oh I didn't notice that, oops. (Now I look like an idiot lol)

  • im using a mac, and i dont have a delete key, only backspace and that doesn't work.

  • @Twicev2 On a Mac, go to edit -> clear.

  • @GlacyXUmby4eva Are you on a Mac? The shortkeys don't work the same on a Mac. Like I said, go to edit -> clear in the menu.

  • @PARAZITIIeuroPA Just send a message through the youtube message center.

  • it called a cat good video

  • Aaaw great tutorial and cute pic :)

    Just love your accent.

Unfortunately I cannot make it work... I mean the pic gets cut okay and all that, but I can't seem to be able to save the pic without the stupid bagground comming back :(

Guess I gotta learn some more...

  • @LitzysDelight Save it as .png file. :)

  • @GIMPtricks Thank you... that worked :)

  • Comment removed

  • cute voice:P

  • Hi, I'm trying to take an image of a person and lay it onto a scenic backdrop. I'm following the instructions here but when I use the lasso tool and then invert selection and delete everything around what i've lassoed, I wind up with nothing but white space there. I can't get that white space to show the background scenic image. Any suggestions?

  • @DeanOMiite You skipped the first step. 0:17

  • These tutorials are great! I'm pretty new to GIMP and this helped me a lot :)

  • What a sexy accent. I was going to ask if you were dutch...then i realized i could just check your channel.

Yeshhhh, i wojjjjj right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do i win a prize?

  • You've dug me out of a hole again. Thanks for the effort you put into these great tutorials. And the sexy voice is a real bonus!

  • @canacourse Oooh, two complimentary comments for the price of one. It's my lucky day!

    Thanks. :)

  • You've dug me out of a hole again. Thanks for the effort you put into these great tutorials.

  • do u know how can i undo if i accidentally overlap the lasso tool ? or i have to redo the whole thing? aww its tiring

  • @5EBASlo96 Ctrl Z to undo.

But I'm not sure what you mean by accidentally overlap the lasso tool...

  • Teacher, please help me :( This is important. I wanna know why when I type in a text into a picture, then I cut out the picture like the way you shown which got the text in it, next I pasted the cut-put picture into another picture (open up another GIMP) but *the text won't appear only the cut-out picture can be seen*. So why teacher. Is there any possible solution for this? Please reply plsss :( Thank you.

  • @5EBASlo96 You could try to merge the text layer down onto the picture.

  • Thanks mate . I have found another easy way.

    1-open your image

    2-right click layer,then transperency,then add alpha chain

    3-select fuzzy select tool

    4-delete

    5-save

    thats it

  • @chillaz3000 That works like a charm if the background is a solid color. :)

  • thankyou soo much!!! you have helped me greatly! subscribed and liked! :)

  • after you have made the frame around the cat when you connect the lines at 2:09...can you click on the line (frame) you made and adjust it?... how ?

  • @albfeszy21 Yes, watch this video youtube. com/watch?v=MAjp-Qp3D6o

The add to the current selection and subtract from the current selection bit. You can do the same with the lasso tool.

  • can you move or center an image this way as well? my picture is a little off center and i need to pick it up like i can with text

  • @SpectaculaSpectacula Yes of course.

You open it as layer (file -> open as layer) on your image and then just move it with the move tool.

  • are you using a mac

  • @KINGof1WORLD No I don't.

  • when i press delete the image clears not the background....

  • @Emzy1706 Make sure you've closed the selection.

  • Hey owner, I have a question. How can I paste the cat (after cutting out) to my own wallpaper, but not the white background? Another question, how can I shrink the cat to make it smaller? Thanks owner . Thanks very much :)

  • @5EBASlo96 I only put the white background there to show the result.

If you follow the steps up until there it won't have a white background.

Then just copy paste it into another image.

You can use the scale tool the shrink the cat. See my last video on how to do that.

  • when i press delete on the keyboard to delete the backgound nothing happens.. :(

  • @raybebaby Try edit -> clear instead.

  • @GIMPtricks it worked yay! thankyou so much :D

  • lol ik googelde in het engels hoe ik iets moest uitsnijden en kom bij een nederlander terecht;) thanx!

  • Nederlands zeker ;D

  • where to download?!?

  • @MrFaelon google gimp and it's the first link that comes up.

  • awsome :)

  • oh gawd this helped soo much u dont even know

  • Thank you very much! I was able to cut out my dog perfectly!!

  • when I do this there is a giant white square behind the cut-out image how do i get rid of the sqaure so just the cut out image is there...im trying to put the cut-out image on top of another image..thanks :)

  • @Mig4512 You forgot the first step. Watch the first 35 seconds again. "Add Alpha channel" means that you'll have a transparent background, instead of a whilte one when you do this.

  • @GIMPtricks thanks a lot!!!

  • lol furry animal

  • You sound dutch, aren't you?

  • ok i have a question,is there any way i can draw a cartoon of some sort and than just crop that image out to use without having the whole background? So basically i want to import the cartoon character to post on a flyer without having the blank background around it.

  • @johnydee187 Yes, follow this video.

At the start I add an alpha channel. That's what you need to do. You can copy paste your cartoon on the flyer by openingthe flyer as a seperate image in GIMP.

  • Omg!! THank you very much!!!!

Now, I know, how can I cut the images, like that!!

Thank you very much!! It helped me a lot!!! Thank you!! ^^

  • scissors are just fucked up, so i dont use them

  • Love the feather tip..

    Just what I needed :P

  • @TopazSkillMauler You're comment like a son of a bitch

  • @Safegold008 Your my bitch

  • are you french?

  • @GIMPtricks haha dat kan je horen xD

  • @GIMPtricks Amg! i always thought u was russian? *facepalm* D: but thanku so so much! i mean i could give u so mani hugs, this helped me like mad, i have been trying to figure out how to do this for like months!! x

  • It's a dutch girl speaking English lol it sounds so very the accent hahahhahhah

  • what version of gimp is this???

  • @ROMFILMS 2.6 See my FAQ video if you still have questions.

  • when your done making your creation in gimp can you only print it? or can you post it up like a sig for forums?

  • @rayvyn15 Of course you can post it online. :)

  • @GIMPtricks do you have to render it or something cause when i post i up i only get the background and none of the fonts or images X)

  • @rayvyn15 You need to save it as .png file.

  • @GIMPtricks haha im sounding like a noob but how do you do that? -_-

  • @rayvyn15 File -> save as ->

Say you want to call the image you want to save sigpic. Then type in sigpic.png

Then click save, and whatever you get asked from there just go along with it.

  • @GIMPtricks AHH thanks worked like a charm i will sub you :]

  • How do make my left bar look like yours please? I tried "add tab" but can't get it to look like yours. thanks
