Well...not really. The Labor Day Hurricane of 1935 is the fastest hurricane, The Great Hurricane of 1780 was the deadliest hurricane and Hurricane Wilma (2005) was the most intense hurricane. However, Hurricane Katrina was the costliest hurricane of all time.

@Vlad788: andrew was the same way in 1992, it went from a strong tropical storm early on august 22nd, 1992 to a category 4 hurricane in less than 12 hours...
