@aaronisdapimp The G2 really has a BIG problem with noise (ISO 800 and higher is almost crap). But if you shoot at ISO 200 the G2 seems to be better than its successor. My next camera is definetely NOT a Panny.

@ichirootaniguchi X100 r you serious. Get the GH2. Its the best of both world. Get the GF2 with a prime 20mm lens. It competes at half the price. X100 is a hype job!

the GH2's sensor is far smaller than the X100's also. i don't need a GH2 because i shoot with a D3X/D700/D300s set up for work..

the X100 outperforms every compact camera on the market.... it's not just a hype job it's fact!

also the best way to shoot is 1 lens - 1 body..

i may have SLR's but i only use one lens on each body

@ichirootaniguchi Unfortunately your misinformed Ichi. The Leica X1 kicks Fuji X100 into high heaven.

@sirtechy how so? in my own comparison i had high hopes for the X1 but the X100 that i used was far superior

maybe in terms of overall image quality the leica wins by a hairlength but in overall performance the X100 is superior. hence why it's selling so much better than the X1

@sirtechy also in overall performance the Fuji X100 outperforms the Leica M8 and M9 i've seen that comparison myself since i owned an Original M8 and used an M9 for several months. the M9 is great but it sucks in just about everything when compared to say a D3X which yes is barely better at technical resolution but i'm talking overall performance

on the other hand a leica lens is a leica lens. voigtlander/zeiss and nikkor are probably the only glass even close to a leitz lens

@sirtechy last note. if you're gonna buy leica. don't even bother with anything else other than the M or S series. i personally would not bother with any Digital Leica at all because for far less money i can get much MUCH superior cameras. any japanese camera is superior by comparison to leica's digital offerings (not to be all japan pride an such) but it's an honest working photographers opinion.

i'd rather spend money and get a Mamiya 645DF than an S2 as i am doing right now.

Then what about the Sony a55/33 then?...

Its properly correct that no other contrast based auto focus system is faster than Panasonic's system in use on the G3 and GH2 etc. But the Sony system is by definition faster just because it constantly focuses by use of the pellicle mirror technology...

The G3 looks like a great camera though... just like the GH2...

@thezenbeta its the micro four thirds system lenses which have the full range of zooms and primes.. The m4/3 lenses are priced reasonably and they're auto focus motors works quiet and fast because of the smaller lens elements...you can use other lens mounts with an adapter but then the auto focus doesnt work and your stuck with a fully manual lens..
