Pretty simple question to understand i thought. It's either yes...or no. I thought perhaps either Steyr, Magpul or whoever might. If you dont know the answer, or understand the question then best not to comment.

@GranturismoFan96 usually theyre abbreviations for names, like pps means police pistol slim, and numbers are usually the caliber of the gun, like some sniper rifles, year it was made ak47, or versions,like the m16 a4 is the 4rth version of the gun. hop that helped.

@GranturismoFan96 the numbers are to tell experienced gun owners details about the gun. for example, the Sig556 and the Sig522, the "556" tells me that it is chambered in 5.56 nato, whereas the "522" tells me that gun is chambered in 22 long rifle. giving them "Real names" would make it difficult to distinguish what caliber the gun is chambered which is why the guns that have an actual name only come in one caliber (the TMP is 9mm, the "Striker" is 12 gauge, etc.

The "47" is hinting to the date it was accepted into service with the Soviet Army.

Another good example is Polish guns.
