I guess, it must have been in 1968 - I was 16 years. It was played the whole holiday at the hotel. Today I'm close to 60. Good, good memories.

  • I am so sad that nowadays some singers don´t care to have something to tell in their songs, this beatiful song tell us about a person that was in prison and the way to know if she still loves him after 3 years is that the old oak tree must have a tied yellow ribbon, what a surprise he found 100 ribbons in the tree! It makes me wanna cry!

  • Got to see Tony O. and Dawn at Disneyland back just when "Tie a Yellow Ribbon" came out but before it was the mega-hit it became . Early seventies I think . What an icon "Yellow Ribbon" became . Many people don there ribbons on the back of their S.U.V.s and cars and dont evan realize that it came from this musical group .

  • Great song but very crappy synchronization - like a bad 1970's kung fu movie. The dork who put this thing together did not edit. Pray he is castrated so as not to reproduce his deficient gene-pool.

  • I think I heard the melody for this in The Wrong Trousers?

  • This song is origanally about prisioners returning home then the incorporated it for the troops also, either way its an amazing record!

  • i remember my mum singing this to me when i was young.

  • The song is about a prison...this song is where the idea of using a yellow ribbon to support the troops came from. It signified a welcome-home message, which later turned into a welcome-home for the troops.

  • @bc22259 Your right bc

  • This song's about a prisoner coming home, chaps. A classic, the history of the song confirms this. But I think the line 'I'm really still in prison...' kind of gave the game away. Neat upload, sir.

  • i danced with my gf to this song! first dance

    :)

  • does anyone notice this is really off?

  • @rejeethemonster

Its just that you don't get the "type" and the "style" of oldies, to be honest with you, i'm just 13 years old and yet my classmates in school listen to Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. personally, i prefer rather listen to this than "Back to December" from Taylor Swift
