  • Good video! I don't at all understand the rules of rugby but this was still very enjoyable lol

    Peace

    Peace

    Peace

    Peace

  • I like to watch your vid,you seem so enjoy of life all the times.Fantastic.

    Catherine xxx

  • Thanks as always Catherine! This was a fun day out!

  • hehe...at 172cm...back home, I'm the average rugby player's breakfast!!! haha

Nice vid :) Didn't realize rugby was so popular here!I haven't seen too many big Japanese lads around though!

  • Mate, rugby is still big in Japan at the high school and club level, but in an unfortunate rapid decline at professional and national level. The administration of the sport is a mess but as you can see, plenty of people still get out and enjoy it. And 172cm would be no barrier to playing here - you just have to remember that even those short guys here can hit pretty hard!

    Peace

  • How big/tall you are Hikosan??

  • I'm 185cm/82kg, which is slightly taller than average in NZ, but nothing spectacular, and generally way too small to play rugby. But in Japan, that's big enough that I usually play lock - pretty much unthinkable overseas if you are not at least 195cm.

    Peace

  • Hey Hikosan, Great Video. I like how everyone is enjoying themselves during this friendly competion. Looks like you have very many friends over there. Thank you for sharing! Later! Nick

  • Nick mate! Hehe, I think I'm known in this rugby competition as that gaijin guy with the video camera who talks too much in Japanese... Hehe. It's great fun - for many people, this is their escape from their stress and daily lives. The great thing about rugby is how you try to kill each other on the field, and then you walk off the field and everyone is like this. I think it's what makes the sport so special.

    Peace

  • Though I do not understand rugby so much I was surprised that there are many participating teams.

Is Mr.Hiko referee and a player on that day?

  • Rucheombura san! In Tokyo, there are about five or six Autumn social competitions, each with about 12 teams, and a large number of grade and company teams above that. This was a nice day where all the teams can compete at once.

And yes, I was a referee too - it's a family tradition! I'll do another video on refereeing sometime.

    Thanks for the comment!

    Peace

  • Cool vid! Sorry you didn't win the tournament but it looks like you had great fun ^_^

  • Mate, we made the playoff tournament, but given how hot it was and how tired we got, we were happy to sit back, drink beer and enjoy watching the final. Cheers!

    Peace

  • Awesome vid Hikosaemon

    Natsukashii sugeru!!

5 games played and 4 reffed in one day has got to be some kind of record

Hope to be back in All France colours soon

  • Hey, thanks for the comment, mate! Haha, in the heat, it was a big ask, but tens is always good fun.

Look forward to seeing you back in Japan sometime soon - at least now you have a nice Kiwi summer to start looking forward to!

    Peace

  • Great, HIKO san!

I have played rugby when I was in high school.

It was just physical education though.

even though that, it was really fun and I enjoyed very much.

If there is a chance, please, let me join in.

I wanna play with you guys for fun.

    Thanks for the great vid!

    Have a good one!!

  • Hey Oborogin san!

Actually, we all play touch rugby and learn rugby skills in NZ, but I never actually played rugby like this until 3 years ago! I joined for fun, but it is great to play, and this league is full of people who are new to the sport, or haven't played in a long time.

If you get the chance, it would be great to have you along for a game!

I'm glad you enjoyed the vid - as you can see, it's good people here, everyone enjoying!

    Peace

  • Ah finally the Rugby Video you told us about! I love how Japanese try everything! American Football, Football/Soccer, Baseball!

Also love the Kiwi accent when you talked to the All France guy :D!

Congrats. too All Jin Jan hehe!

Man makes me love Japan even more :)

And thanks for the advice with Universities in Japan!

  • Sanbastion mate! Yep, I FINALLY got this up. It took some editing too - I started with 2 hours of video, and when I got to this point, I thought I could cut more and it is still a bit long... but it looked like the right balance. I could have put more of the samba dancers up perhaps... hehe

Yep, one thing I like about Japan is how people get into their hobbies like this. This was mad fun.

Cheers mate, and no worries on the advice!

    Peace

    So long:)

Thanks mate, for all your comments!

    Peace

It seems very something new to me. I see some JP but others look like half JP and American? or Kiwi? Very interesting! I love 球技!

There are actually more people playing rugby here in Japan than in New Zealand.

Also, it is funny, there are a few half (double?!) Japanese, but also Japanese who play tend to look strong, and start to look like maori or pacific island guys like in NZ!

    Peace

    Cheers mate!

    Peace
