  • We need The AE to expand into local state shows, too. (I'm hoping Oregon)

  • So you're telling me atheist believe when we die we go nowhere and just become food for worms 10ft underground??wow that's pathetic

  • @teta809 Is that sarcasm, or are you for real?

  • @radafat Nope I'm pretty much for real

  • @teta809 So you think that when we die, we fly up to the clouds, where there are pearly gates and naked infants playing harps? At least we know for a fact that when we die, we do become worm food 6 feet under. You just grew up hearing these superstitions, which is the only reason you believe in them.

  • @radafat Baby playing harps No but pearly gates yepp- We know are human bodies will die and turn into dust but are souls will keep on living in heaven without sin. Our sins don't make us who we are so are we really ever our selves in this corrupted world-No. Only in heaven we will be are selves without the sin that destroys are personalities. We think as heaven as this place where we just sit around when in reality is where are real lives start.

  • She's a friggin' cutie!

  • This makes me so fucking sick to my stomach I love Thomas Jefferson!

  • Christians are true foes of freedom and democracy as are all relegions. One has only to read any Holy book to see that there is no room for freedom of thought , speech, anything else. The french were right-destroy all gods.

  • You guys ever listen to a Bob Dutko show? I think it's atheists who don't listen to reason...Your theme song screams closed mind on it's own.

  • Funny how "free thinking" is defined as an exclusive group of atheists...Did you read the letter from Jefferson...nutjobs, how is it a Canadian can know the reality of the separation of church and state and a bunch of freakin yanks can't get it straight....

  • So what are they going to tell kids about that guy who is on Mount Rushmore, and the nickel?

  • @MegaVolcano Great point! I mean really, kids are gonna wonder what made Thomas Jefferson important enough to land a place on Mount Rushmore, and hopefully they'll research it.

  • The revision or omission of historical fact for any means other than providing greater factual accuracy is unethical regardless of who is doing it and why they feel justified to do so.

  • Good GOD (ironic), Thomas Payne is absolutely one of THE central philosophers of the Enlightenment, never mind his importance to American history. Leaving him out is utterly insane.

  • It's so good to hear that accent coming from someone who's saying "I'm an atheist."

It's like a breath of fresh fucking air cos usually my mind puts up a strong bullshit filter to that accent.

  • First thing, you guys in TX should demand the SBOE's members resignations! Second, boycot the publisher of the textbooks.

  • @JOHNINCOLUMBUS

    I 100% agree

  • @drche420 - I don't know about you, but I haven't heard one word about the publisher, and it's responsibility to put out credible textbooks, have you?

  • Read the Book on Thomas Pain by "Hitch".Watch my video with my song about this all mess."Getting to the Paradise"

  • @Eron2828

Yes, Socialism as an idea predates Marx, but Communism is a Marxist formulation which I've not seen anywhere else. And it's communism that's usually referred to as being the 'great evil', no?

I don't live in America so I may be wrong on some of the discourse...

That is all. Good day. :)

  • Jefferson was NOT important. All he did was write the Declaration of Independence when he was 32 years old.

  • @el100783 So we ignore that he was also the 3rd president of the United States, made possible the Louisiana Purchase, rose conflict that led to the War of 1812, wrote the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom that advocated for separation of church and state, was Governer of Virginia, the first Secretary of the State, and the second Vice President. Yeah, all he's known for is writing the Declaration...(sarcasm)

  • @lhvinny Maybe you missed the sarcasm in my post. Don't be so quick to want to attack people. I must commend you on your google efforts though

  • @el100783 I did miss the sarcasm. It is difficult to read tone on posts like this, and I'm glad it was meant as sarcasm.

I do apologize for my jump on the comment. As a teacher, I see the SBOE's decision and comments backing up the decision as attacks on education itself.

My comments about Jefferson are from memory of high school history class, not a use of google.

  • @lhvinny No worries. Good for you for knowing so much about Jefferson. By far my favorite founding father. Texas is crazy

  • @el100783 ALL HE DID? First off, you show a brazen ignorance of the mans history, and second you are devaluing one of the most important documents of this nations history. If you can't recognize the significance of the Declaration of Independence, I recommend you go to your nearest college and sign up for as many American History classes as they have to offer. You need an education.

  • @GermanChocolateCake Before you attack me, maybe you should google satire asshole. Im an electrical engineer student. My education is fine. It was a joke. Go f*ck yourself

  • @el100783 Sarcasm doesn't transmit through text very well, in case you hadn't noticed. If you were being sarcastic, fine, I retract my comment. If you actually meant what you said, then I stand by my statement. However, by the explicative content of your retort, and your general poor grammar, I still call your educational level into question.

Furthermore, I rather like my pedestal and see no reason to abdicate it to you.

  • @GermanChocolateCake My poor grammar? Maybe somewhere between random signal analysis, electromagnetics, analog circuits, assembly language, digital design, and transform theory, I will try to squeeze in a class that deals with proper grammar and etiquette for online blogs. Nice use of ad hominem to distract from the fact that you made a total asshole of yourself though. I'm glad your vocabulary is so extensive(or your google ability). You can use multiple syllable words. I can do vector calculus

  • @GermanChocolateCake So, you read one post of mine, and, because you failed to be able to see the sarcasm, you felt obligated to lecture me. Then, you read two more of my posts, and assume that it puts you in a position to assess my education level. How arrogant. You don't know me, yet through three short posts, you felt entitled to make impulsive assumptions about my intelligence, and education level. What a prick

  • Comment removed

  • @GermanChocolateCake when you post a comment using the reply button, even if you decide that it was in poor taste immediately after, youtube still sends me the text of your comment. What's the air like up there on your high-horse? I would imagine looking down at the top the heads of all of us inferior minions gets tiring. Me calling names? Im surprised you didn't pull anything after a stretch like that. Antone reading this can go back and read our interaction. Ill call you a waaaaambulance

  • @el100783 I wasn't whining, I was pointing out a fact. There is absolutely nothing you can say that would actually bother me...and the air is nice up here.

  • @GermanChocolateCake So next time, before you are so eager to criticize someone, maybe go through their comment history to make sure whatever they posted that you were going to jump on your pedestal to attack wasn't a joke

  • @Give2IT they tried to, that particular fuck up wasn't voted into the textbooks.

  • an absolute disgrace. the nine republicans who voted for this should be ashamed of themselves. are they the same group who advocated the teaching of intelligent design??

  • @xxzmikezxx - if intelligent design was involved, it didn't include them.

  • @AntimatterRadio

Yeah, Jefferson, who was a figure of the late 1700's, was a communist...pity Karl Marx only began writing about Communism in the mid 1800's...great theory

  • @Gidwan

I'm not sure what you two are talking about exactly.

Just dropping in to point out that there were socialist thinkers before Marx.

    i.e. Fourier, Winstanley

Even in America, Nathaniel Hawthorne was writing some fiction that worked in ideas of socialism and Fourierism had a tenuous foothold in the North-East.

    That is all. Good day.

  • The seating on The Atheist Experience makes for a very uncomfortable "round table" discussion.

  • @CPTJRMAJJR Bull Shit Batman!

  • @CPTJRMAJJR America was actually founded on secularist values. Many of the founding fathers were strongly against the church.

  • @CPTJRMAJJR DERP

  • @CPTJRMAJJR Citation needed.

  • @CPTJRMAJJR Your church disproves the use of drugs. So... stop taking drugs.

  • @CPTJRMAJJR thats fair enough, so i trust you want to see your nation grow and progress and gain knowledge, rather than try and go backwards?

  • @CPTJRMAJJR

Your first point is just not true at all...blatant historical revisionism to suit current ideological needs. Read the Treaty of Tripoli in which it is specifically stated that America was not founded on either Christian beliefs nor does it hold any one school of religious thought to be privileged over another. So where do you get that America was founded as a Christian nation?

  • @Gidwan The Treaty of Tripoli, which you referenced, is where John Adams wrote the America was not founded upon the christian religon. Those on the religous right are very selective which Founding Fathers quotes they use. You will never hear the above qoute on Fox News. For example, there is a falsely attributed quote by James Madison they love to use which no one can reference. All the while ignoring the numerous things James Madison did write about church and state which can be referenced.

  • @closerange88

Historical revisionism gone mad...I'm an historian, so I know just how easy it is, relatively speaking, for some inane falsehood to become 'truth' if it fits with peoples prejudices and people push it long enough...

Thanks for the extra info on my post :)

  • @desconocidos27

Make that the whole world.. they want to turn the earth to the testies of Jeebu$

  • You know what the plan is... it's to remove Americans/America and replace it with Christians/Jeebu$land.

Yea, the Christians are going to do their best to destroy America

  • @DoctorE0 america? as in the continent as a whole?

  • Historians claims The United States of America was founded when Thomas Jefferson drafted and proclaimed the "Declaration of Independence". The delegates who signed the draft of the Declaration are known as the founding fathers. The Declaration of Independence, was announcing, the separation of America, from Great Britain. It's a historical document about a rebellious intentions , against Great Britain, and it came a time, before, the formation of the government.

  • The Constitution is just a copy of pagan ideals, like "Senate," "Justice," "Liberty" these describe the Pagan Greek and Roman concepts, all of these, philosophy, are Pagan to the, core . The concept of Democracy came from the Pagan Greeks . Nowhere in the Declaration of Independence or the U.S. Constitution does it mention ,Democracy. Throughout history, America has never been a true Democracy, decisions always lay and made , in the hand of a few , rich people, which is known as an "oligarchy"

  • VESPUCCI, AMERIGO,was an Italian explorer , America was named for him in 1507, when the German mapmaker Martin Waldseemüller, printed the first map that used the name America for the New World. The Europeans stole the land from the Native Americans and annihilated them . The true founding fathers of America were murders. They didn't discover ,The New World , the Natives Indians, were here before them. You can't "discover" a land , if there are people , already [inhabited] living on it.

  • she is beautiful

  • @botlight Yeah she is, couldn't help noticing myself.

  • does she really think there are 48 states?

  • @obliviousaa i beleive she was saying that there ae 47 other states that will get the same textbooks. what 2 wont get them im not sure but i donnt think she was implying there were only 48 states.

  • @obliviousaa pssh the important ones

  • Matt makes a very good point that just dawned on me - its in the religious groups interest to push what they call 'tolerance', but not what you and I might understand it to be, religious tolerance to the religious means everyone else shut up and and say nothing while we influence and push through clearly religiously motivated ideology and legislation. We must be vigilant in recognizing it and stopping religious groups from turning America into a theocracy like Iran with the Christian Taliban.

  • Matt at 4:53 - "You can push any idiot... any ideological..."

Screw the ideological crap, I want to push some idiots around. The ordinary stress ball is so 00s. It's 2010, we should be squeezing religious brains instead. Figuratively, of course! ;)

  • She's hot. The full package, with brains and all.

  • ESOB=evangelical son of a bitch

  • Let Texas change text books who gives a crap? Real high schools issue students lap top computers so text books are a thing of the past. Plus as I remember in high school I never opened a text book. It's kinda of cute how the SBOE thinks they can affect any sort of change with the printed word... it just shows how behind the technology curve they are.

  • @yourmomdidsayyourean Laptops are all fineand good if you are in a county(or state for that matter) that can afford to issue them. For other poorer counties you are still stuck with textbooks and in this case textbooks filled with bias dreck.

  • @TheDrpretorious True, however lap tops are now becoming more cost effective to purchase then text books. Hell 20 years ago when I went to college some books cost nearly 120.00 bucks. With the current technology and in the increase in the cost of printing binding editing and pagination of text books not to mention shipping and handling text books are about to out cost their average school shelf life of 3 years.

  • @yourmomdidsayyourean *than*....sorry i do that all the time

  • @yourmomdidsayyourean although i would like to think that laptops can fix the issue the sad truth is the textbooks will be turned into the material that u are to search through in class assignments, and it will spread as other school boards adopt these religious zealots programs.

  • @TheDrpretorious

I keep seeing adds on Hulu for "One Laptop Per Child", which is apparently where you can go donate your old lap tops for 3rd world country kids or something like that.

  • "All that is necessary for evil to succeed is that good men do nothing..."

  • Being erased from history books because you dared to question the church is a really scary prospect. This does not bode well. :(

  • I graduated in 1983 and studied Thomas Jefferson. We also studied Paine's Common Sense. I live in the deep south and the "founded on Christianity" was never taught. Perhaps Texas should be last and Alabama not considered to backwards eh? I find it hard to believe this was taken out. What a sad sad day for education in Texas. I of course will now have to find out if he has been taken out of the history books in our school district.

  • FUCK TEXAS

  • You can't write about American history and exclude Tomas Jefferson. In fact, every Canadian child learns about him. American education is becoming ever more shitty.

  • @CanadiaNecro1 hell yes. Even if I never really understood much about him, I was very much aware of Thomas Jefferson when I was a kid and taught about him when I went to school here in Canada.

  • It's about time my favorite Atheist YouTube Channel uploaded a video about my religion.

  • oh,... and Amie is cute as HELL!!

  • "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups" -unknown

I think this is abhorrent. If things go as planned for these people Jefferson will never have existed according to history,... Him, the dinosaurs,...who else are they going to make extinct? Xians are not killing people in hoards anymore, they are wiping them from time itself.

  • The damned funi christians are going to ruin America and the succeeding generations if left unchecked. The hijacking of public schools is as dangerous as islamic radical terrorists, except the fundi's could do more damage if they are able to brainwash our children by rewriting history. Next, they will try (and has already tried) to replace evolution with creationism..

  • What the fundamentalists want is a Christian equivalent of the Islamic theocracy; many evangelical leaders - Becky Fischer, for example (you might know her from Jesus Camp) - even openly admit to wanting to start a Christian Taliban, a Christian Jihad.

I fear that all these attempts to take over culture, education, and so on are "stepping stones" to that ultimate goal.

  • @1RadicalOne I concur!

  • It will be a dark day if the fundamentalists get to power in the most economically and militaristically powerful country on the planet, one whose actions control the world economy, geopolitics, and thousands of nuclear warheads. Especially when a significant fraction of said fundamentalists WANT the end of the world so they can claim more "fulfilled prophecy" and feel like they have hastened the Second Coming.

  • @1RadicalOne Is it any wonder when two of those religions both believe they are destined to fight a holy war at gods's side to remake the world in the name of that god? These people are actively pushing for a religious world war that they are convinced they will win.

  • I have talked to many of these End-Timers...to them, winning is defined by killing every human on the planet. And to many, all living things period.

  • i can't really complain about my public high school... in history we read a lot of thomas paine's common sense and talked a lot about the writers of the constitution without the phrase "founded on christian values" ever being uttered (i even remember my teacher actually saying that all of the founders who identified as deists were probably atheists who didn't want to be ostracized). in my biology class we talked about abiogenesis, the urey miller experiments, and evolution in general for months

  • Amy talked so much shit.

  • pfft we learned all about thomas paine in my public high school

  • @skepticaltuber They also continually lie about evolution. They see their grand fallacy being debunked at an ever increasing rate. I wouldn't doubt that in 5 to 10 years the remaining christians will be referred to as "village idiot". And belief in the abrahamic cults will be classified by psychologists as a form of insanity.

  • "All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing." Edmund Burke

  • @spydrebyte

Muslims would like this quote too

  • @AnAtheisticAbomb yeah anyone with any believe could twist it to their own means >.<

  • @spydrebyte

    ;)

  • ...this is the reason why we need to keep information free. It's when people have no idea this shit is going on that they get away with it.

I'm disgusted that they'd change the history books so willy-nilly!

  • How the fuck can they take Jefferson out of textbooks? He's, in my humble opinion, THE Founding Father, and the most important of them all.

  • honestly... it seems like these texan public schools are operating at an elementary school level... "paul revere said the british were coming! george washington was a hero, and like, the greatest president EVER! the country is founded on christian values!" it's absurd.

  • @rorschach221 George Washington is the name of my friend's dog. ;) But yeah, Texas history books aren't that great as it is, but I got lucky with some of my teachers.

  • @rorschach221 Yeah. I'm from Texas. I feel bad that our educational system isn't getting any better.

  • @skepticaltuber

read paines critique of faith and religion in the age of reason or biblical blasphemy. I just bought the Thomas Paine Collection because Glen Beck compared himself to Paine. Beck is a mormon, Paine was a deist that hated religion.

Jefferson was a deist that also criticized christianity.

These guys were super smart for their time.

Why? Well since when have the religous cared about truth? They pretend to know what they cant know

  • Boycott the textbook publishers...money is a very persuasive tool...then fire the State Board members.

  • This is so much Orwell's 1984

  • They took out civil rights leaders too. If you don't like it, ignore it is their philosophy

  • So another lawsuit is needed again lovely!

  • I suspect that the hard-of-thinking feel resistance to his vital message about the separation of church and state. Although that erosion began some time ago - sad to say. Such a shame that such noble ideals, and a beautifully written constitution, have proven to be no protection against the poorly educated masses. The founding Fathers would be spinning in their graves - except that there's no afterlife, obviously. ;o)

  • @acromel That's no reason to rule it out though... They could be zombies.

  • Dude...I didn't even know who Thomas Paine was...

  • Seriously, those guys at the Discovery Institute and the SBOE, and whatever else rules America need to grow up! I don't really mind them being Christian, but please, don't force your beliefs onto others through selective media/propaganda! I think I can remember that one of the very first laws wrote by the Founding Fathers was that America should be completely secular, in the sense of seperation of chruch and state, and that noone was allowed to enforce any kind of worldview onto another person.

  • I wonder if the members of the SBOE realize that they're using the old Soviet method of rewriting their history when certain people 'fall out of favour'...

  • Matt and that girl should date...

  • @tempemonkey2323 ME and that girl should date =)

  • They did burn the library at Alexandria. We must remain vigilant.

  • Don't forget, tomorrow, the 20th of May, it's the draw Muhammad day.
