@PigCowMonster but think about it not just every instrument gets the melody to a song and in classic pieces or in any piece a flute will get the melody there might just be a chance when another instrument gets a solo or gets to have a melody and the flutes have to harmonize well i guess that what i'm trying to say is that whether an instrument is diff. or not they are all important even if the flute is the most soft or delicate instrument its important and yes other instruments may have a melody

The flute is a beautiful instrument, but i like the oboe and clarinet better only because i play those instruments. Here is how i would rate it:

1) Clarinet(the one I play best)

2)Oboe

3)Flute

I am a new flute player. I find it hard to play because I have asthma, and also my immune system sucks, so I get sick alot. Every time I need to perk up a little during practice, this always helps. GO FLUTE!!

at my school, it was mandatory to learn to play the opened-hole flute before we could use the closed hole one. it was really hard to pick up, but once i got it, I GOT IT!!

Actually a 19th century era simple-system concert flute that was phased out in favour of the Boehm-system flute that we know of today, in the 20th century. The Irish musicians picked up the simple-system flute for their playing, taking advantage of the expressiveness of the open holes, which only open holes can offer. Open holes allow for ornamentation that makes Irish music so unique sounding.

Several Irish musicians do choose to play the modern silver flute however.

I've been playing flute for 7 years now and piccolo for 5 years. It's so extrodinary how much effort it takes to improve just a little bit. I started when I was 11 and I am 18, now. Many of my professors said I could really started when I was younger becuase I played so well and my sound was just so vibrant. Now since I am older and just graduated high school today. My sound is even more clearer and prettier. It's just so much effort to get flute players to an extrodinary sound that they make.
