  • what memories this was sanging never be another the lead singer sung this song and the girls couldnt do nothing but melt and cry leslie where are you ?

  • True Ole Skool. This was orignially put out by Skylark. This song rocks!!1

  • This is A Bad Ass Cut, I love Firme Rolaz like this... I give u propz homie, Graciaz 4 shareing this jam. U just brought this man waaay back.

  • I saw New Birth perform this song live in concert in mid 70's, where they opened for the Isley Brothers at the Spectrum in Philly. When Leslie Wilson sang this song the Spectrum went crazy! He was on his knees by the end of the song, the band was throwing out flowers, it was a magical moment. When the Isley's came on after that .the energy level dropped drastically. New birth had stole the show!!! It was awesome!! Watch them perform I can understand it live and you will see what I mean.

  • @robbyroc31 I was at that concert too!!!!!! Peace

  • My fondest memory of New Birth. I was 12 yrs old when they played the Apollo in NYC 1972. I was on the front row me & my cuz standing up......... Female lead singer in this photo reached down with her ebony moist lips gave me a kiss that has been with me ever since. Oh & of course absolutely love there music ......They were & are today extremely under appreciated !!!

  • i didnt realize how he was givin major props to the woman in this song...men in music today cant touch this

  • @ladymuziklover UR SO RIGHT U CANT FIND A BETTER WAY

TO DESCRIBE WOMEN WITH SO MUCH RESPECT

    BOOMCC1

  • I loved this jam! It totally expressed the strengths in the woman. It was beautiful back in the days too witness such strength. Somewhere along the way; the essence of strength has been watered-down. A lot of women have surrendered their natural powers to the will of societies un-natural desires. (Come back women; we need you'll too sustain our existence.)

  • no the group brutha sang the shit out this song. ki-c aint got nothing on them boys

  • love it always

  • This takes me back! The beauty of this song is that it can have a diifferent meaning for each of us, but never lose it power. I heard K-Ci's version and I luv that boy, he did it some serious justice. But no one, i mean no one can touch this one! "Let the rain fall down upon her, "she's a free and gentle flower growing wild". umph, umph, umph...real music!!!!!

  • So Deep and so True!!!!

  • LOVE IT!

  • my theme song

  • When was the last time you heard an artist describe their love for aonther like this? Yeah, and you won't hear it again unless you do what we do, U-TUBE it!

  • This song is wonderful, lyrics had meaning then! You didn't just listen to a song for the beat! Jamie Fox sampled this in his song "unpredictable"! There is nothing like the original though. This is one of my favorite New Birth songs! I am a 70's baby and the product of 2 parents who brought me up on the best old school music!

  • This is what you call music

  • this song reminds me of my mother, he describes her to a tee in this song!!! She's had a hard life, but I love her to death!!!

  • I KNEW I'd heard a version of this before Skylark released theirs...thanks.

  • Only New Birth could make a song like this

  • She faced the hardest times you can imagine And many times her eyes fall back the tears And when her youthful world was about to fall in Each time her slender shoulders For the weight of all her tears And a sorrow no one hears Still rings in midnight silence in her ears And if by chance that I should hold her Let me hold her for a while And if allowed just one posession I would pick her from her garden to be mine. Be careful how you touch her for she'll awaken
  • man, singing and talking to a woman with so much love and understanding is like a forgotten art. This is song is so deep on so many levels that i cannot even explain. When he says "i love you girl, I love you so much I can not even explain" You are like a flower that blooms in any season...you are my flower growing wild" Damn that is deep.

  • I agree... talking to a woman like this is a lost art. How sad. These kids Just Dont Know.

  • @loon0493 Loon, you are so right! This shit is so deep! To understand your mate, is like a flower blooming! Just don't over water her!! lol

  • @loon0493 sad to say it but its hard to find the kind of lady he talking bout. Not impossible but hard.

  • @loon0493 you ain't said nothing but the truth my brotha!!!

  • This music transports me back! Classic meaningful music...

  • "Let her cryyyyy, 'cus she's a lady" Thats my fave part!!!!

  • Man, so many good old parties with this tune...this warms my heart and soul at a time I really needed it. Thanks....

  • this is real music right here. one of the best slow jams ever made!!

  • i love this song. wasnt born yet either.. but this song has sooo much meaning to it.. <3 i wonder it any rapper/rnb singer will remake this one???

    basement party song.. plus soultrain...

  • Jaime Fox used the intro in "Unpredictable" already.

  • yea i know.. but im saying like i wonder if they will use the same lyrics...

  • I thought I recognized that intro. Thanks for pin pointing it.

  • Man I love this song. I aint even know about it til a year ago.

  • i wasnt born when this came out but when i discovered my dads record of this song its been my favorite slow song of all time!

  • this tells the story of so many blk women, myself included.

  • Yet another basment party song, Thanks again Luv!

  • man i remember when my mama has lil basement get togethers..and i damn sure remember hearing this song when her friends were damn near drunk.. lol.. i love this song!!...

  • sleep is the only freedom that she knows.....

the way she's always paying for a debt she never owes.

woww. classic r&b is timeless. i remember my uncle stole this record from my momma in the 70's when i was a kid and she tried to kill him.

now that i am older, i fully understand why!

she told my daddy not to come home until he got that album back from his brother.

  • true ole skool true fools basement hallways

  • oldschoolen1. Thanks for this memory. From the Class of 1976 Peple's High Vallejo. You know this was on the 8 track when I was cruisin'.

  • music had so much meaning back than, the closes you could have came to music like this was gerald levert RIP

  • This will always be a classic love song years from now. They don't make them like this anymore.

  • Timeless memories and talent that will never be matched. I am so thankful for being in my prime during these unerasable times. love my ole' schoo muzik...

  • I agree with you Zbleavin walk away and don't look back the bastard isn't worth it ask me how i know stop paying for a debt you never owed fuck him

  • Slow jams were special. Great song.

  • Simply put a Classic.

  • This song bring me to tears because he sung the hell out this song.Thank You FOR this song.

  • u and me both!

  • I second the motion!

  • This song is smokes so good!

  • ^Take the "is" out, see I'm so high I can't hardly type.

  • this was one of my favorite songs i was in a group and we loved singing this song

  • I am a wildflower! The morals, values and principals I was raised on, I still carry them with me today! Love this song!!!

  • Im packing right now to leave in the am,(Im leaving my hubby) this is my theme song,lol,...thxs,"wanna be Free" by ohio players is next,lol.....

  • I love this song. It would be the second to the last song played at the end of our high school dances and of course the prom. In fact, my boyfriend and I got into a fuss at the prom ( circa 1978) but, when they played this song he was looking for me and I was looking for him. Needless to say we found each other , danced, kissed and made up. Hmmm...

  • That Man sung the Hell out that song. Messes me up every time I hear it! Sang it again, baby!

  • 5:27-6:07 is my favorite part.He broke it down .

  • Yes, he did, I lose it about that time too

  • they're talking about that beautiful black woman in the hell thats been made for her. shes a sweet and gentle flower growin wild

  • Waay too many people on the album cover. Looks like its about to burst at the seams!

  • yeah, that was average then, think about Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Parliment, Graham Central Station, need I go on, but the groups rocked......

  • Thats because people really played instraments, not just came on the stage half naked and dance around, these were real bands with singers that sang not lip linc....no more days like those...really missed.(sigh)

  • I know that. It was a joke... I dont need a history lesson on real music. This is what I listen to.

  • LOL you aint neva lied!!!! LOL LOL Damn they didn't need not one more person in New Birth!!!

  • 1 of the best songs ever

  • Fine effort by a superb band. "You know, you're out of sight".

  • The lead singer name is Leslie Wilson, him and his brother with a female singer had a group called love peace and happiness, they later formed with a big band the nite-liters and started THE NEW BIRTH....ask any R&B question...the R&B Beast

  • I just had to post a comment. Now I am a young lady who grew up listening to New Birth because of my great mother. Thanks for putting me on to real music. Now getting back I am not sure of the lead singer but I can say I am hard to get but he breaks it down towards the end he makes me wanna you can only imagine. I love this song. Be my bridge over trouble waters.

  • be carefull how you touch her

  • omg!!! my shit forever! deep... deep!

  • Does anyone know anything bout the lead singer??

    Dude took it to church!!

  • My Era just leave this ass back there, that where Music was real. Listen to the message, the note, tune, harmony Grown Folk music got something to say, just listen or play it and what Message Delivered.

  • you had to have been there, summers of black teenage love; music that spuns dreams into cotton candy and kisses that tasted all delfonical - like cherry now or laters

you had to have been there, house parties in the dark; red light on, a little wine, a nickel bag and finally learing how to slo-drag

1970s and the golden age of rhythm and blues; a flower yet growing wild

  • Remember when Car Wash came out? And we would drink and smoke in the basement playing cards and listening to Richard Pryor LP's? Marvin Gaye and Gladys Knight and Al Green on the radio...Watching the Ali fight...(for free) ;)

  • The most beautiful ballad ever made! That's my opinion, and this song builds a strong argument!

  • This is Soul Music at its Best from the lead singer to the background vocals, from the guitar and drums to the strings arrangement, this is how A Classic is made.

  • this song is so beautiful...

  • this song is LIKE THAT! I'm sorry, but K-Ci's version of WILDFLOWER is ok, but New Birth is so ORIGINAL. I listened to K-Ci's and don't think it compares to New Birth's. sorry. New Birth's WILDFLOWER song is SMOOTH & filled with passion and originality. It was about love in the 70's and music definitely had a message.

  • The O'Jays did a preety good version on their "Live In London" album. K-Ci's cracked out ass had no business going anywhere near this song. I ain't even hear it and I know it's wack.

  • not sure you even deserve a reply but here goes. K-ci's version was made in 96' years before the drug accusation. However you made your comments without listening to K's version. Marvin Gaye is one of the greatest soul singers of our time & even he struggled with drug addiction. Loyalty to New Birth doesn't = disrespect to another artist who happens to be a fan of New Birth & soul music.

  • i still have my album..oh yeah..that 52" cd???..a quarter on tha handle caused i played it so much..it was scratched

    ...lol..this is truly a classic wit a slow grind..well alritey then..thanx youtube

  • A classic masterpiece!! Simply beautiful - I'd like to hear horn sections from marching bands play the horn parts in the stands - that would be tight!!

  • this song fit me i been thru so much shit and my life and this song make me feel that i am not the only one out there

  • I was really young when this came out. It reminds me of my Aunt Stella in NYC. Fond, fond memories. Funny how a song can make you think about someone from the past....Thank you for posting this.

  • This album is a must have. We need another supergroup of this caliber, today.

  • This song brings back very fond memories. Thank you for posting it. :-)

  • this is hot

  • What singer out today could do this song justice? Hmmm I don't know do you?

  • Ki-C might be able to do it justice.

  • yeah think ki-c could do a great job as well.

  • Are you all serious? K-ci covered this song some 15 years ago. And you are right he did it justice. His version appears on "Rhythym of the Games" an Olympic CD made years ago. Maybe someday I'll upload it

  • that would be great thanks..tell me when you do..
