@MJJSmoothCriminal The CVT transmissions is made to have good MPG. Most of them come with a auto-stick (also called a step-tronic) where you can shift the gears manually.

One thing about the CVT is it keeps the HP up causing a lot of torque steer because it is a front wheel drive car. At least that is the way it is in my 08 Maxima.

You can't get full acceleration w/ A/C compressor on - though I don't know if Nissan uses auto cut off when full throttle is used - turn off A/C for full standing still accels.

I love the 04 and higher maximas although I think Nissan kind of messed up putting a CVT tranny in. Sure it is smooth and all but I do like the sounds of shifting. For me to enjoy this I would have to take the 6 spd. tranny. Nonetheless, congrats on your car I just love the looks.

"its alright" for some reason i kinda like the 09 altima style, the max seems a little geometric, but cant complain about the acceleration, its quick. interior may need some tweeking ex. '09 max. overall, its definitely been a koochie magnet!!!

Yeah..Im a GM guy...but I was looking to trade my Camaro in for something..and drove all kinds of cars..and the 03 Maxima was the best one! I then moved up to 05's, 06's, and then the 08. I bought a black on black leather 08 SE..every option avail!! I must say that Nissan is in my opinion the best car maker period. They and most other foreign car makers put our cheaply made american cars to shame! We cant compare to them! Especially FORD and PONTIAC..they have to be about the 2 gayest ones! :)

I like the feeling of the acceleration with the cvt kind of reminds me of taking off in a jet; smooth continuous power. In a video it seems like the revs top out and it sounds like your speed is topping out, but make no mistake even though the revs have topped out you are still accerating in these cars, feels like a rush of smooth power. I had a 2006 Chevy Impala SS it was very fast but I think the Maxima suspension is more accurate and more fun to drive.

I have a new Maxima 2008 only 900 on the odo and the fuel mileage has already improved, The fit and finish isn't as good as my old 2003 Maxima. Other wise a great car smoother and more luxurious than the 03.
