My dad had a TON of these when he was a kid in the 60's and 70's and he gave them to me to play with when i was little. They worked perfectly and they were sooooooo much fun!!!!!
I use to have one them Hot wheels 24 car carrying case. And every track set including the super charger, juice machine and sizzlers car's.I had over 100 car's at one time when I was a kid.Man I wish I had them today at the age of 52 .They would be collector items today.By the way Jose where ever you are I know you stole one my Hot Wheel car when I invited you to my house 40 year's ago.You bastard.LOL
I have HOT WHEELS MATTEL INC 1977 (made in Thailand) car, not sure what model car it is but it looks like a catillac eldorado but it is mainly white with red white and blue flames/stars coming down the hood and the sides. I don't really know much about hot wheels cars, does anyone know what it's worth? If you could help that would be great
Kids today got it bad when it comes to toys.. If they had these Hot wheels race sets now they would be blown away. all todays kids do now is stand 4 feet away from each other texting calling each other names .
Hot Wheels race sets were the sh*t back then .There were so many and you started playing with them your mom would hace to chase you out the house or you would be there all dayplaying with them..
Mattel really upped the ante for its 1970 Hot Wheels commercials. That's William Conrad (a.k.a. "Cannon") voicing the tune-up tower commercial. (He also voiced some actual car commercials at the time.) Rod "Twilight Zone" Serling did the voice over for the California 8 race set.
@malevich2007. It's actually a yellow Beach Bomb and it's worth a lot more than $250 (or $1K in the card). According to the second edition of The Ultimate Redline Guide from 2005 (Yeah. I need to get a newer guide.), the book value for the yellow Beach bomb is $800 and it's $1650 in the package. I think it's safe to say that a yellow BB in mint condition is worth at least $1K today, out of the package. I have one in near-mint condition (out of the package) and I paid $300 for it in 2001.
@emccurnin It's actually yellow. As far as I know, the only gold Beach Bombs made were the rear-board versions. Very few are known to exist. Probably, less than 50, total for ALL rear-board versions. The last I heard, the most ever paid for a rear-board version was $70K. That's right. $70,000!
I turned 14 today and wasn't alive for these toys but man they look kick ass and I want all of them cuz my dad told me stories about toys like this from when he was little I did end up getting some of the little toy hot-wheels from back then they r made so much better than the ones today
@EliteBUCK24 oh yeah, hot wheels ruled. if you saw it on the highways, Hot wheels had a diecast version of it. I had about a hundred Hotwheels cars ranging from the Corvette stingray to the Ford Broncho to the Kenworth W900 aerodyne. the modern Hot Wheels aren't as cool as the old ones. too many goofy fake cars.
Does anyone know a site that shows all the sets available in this time period or earlier? My memory is vague but I had some kind of set that was battery powered and pushed the car by means of foam wheels , something similar around 4:02 but earlier.
I'm 50 and still have fond memories of Hot Wheels and this time period. The Sizzlers and fat track stick in my mind most.
@O7ROADKING Yes, I had a Jonny Lightning dragster of some type. I forgot about that Hot Wheels carrying case in the shape of wheel, I never had one, but one of my friends did.
@thevarbarias Me too!! I bought a computer cuz I seen the old music vids on cousins computer on YouTube, I love it also. I had a hot wheels "twin mill" in about 1968. There is vid on YouTube of a real size twin mill, in my opinion it's Awesome!!
HEY, I was the one who compiled all of these Hot Wheels 1968-'82 commercials back in 1993! It took quite a lot of digging to find them all + hours of studio time in to edit them on VHS!. Great to see them on YT. Someone asked why there aren't any commercials 1973. From what I learned from my research, the reason why is because Mattel filed for bankruptcy after the founders -the Handlers were charged with cooking the company's books, so they were forced to pull out all of their ad dollars in '73.
I remember these commercials... I always wanted the "Mongoose - Snake Race Set". I was fortunate to have many of the original cars, loops, supercharger set, etc... I still have the cars laying around. Too bad the new sets are cheap. I actually returned a set I got my nephew (~1991). it had an elevator with a steel spring (1" wide). that would snap up when you hit a button. I was afraid it would "guilloutine" his finger off..

can anyone tell me how to collect hotwheels.... right now i only collect the detailed vehicals.. not even hot wheels i think there johnny lightning ... i do have some hot wheels .. but i dont know what to look for .. whats rare what series are special and maybe worth looking for, what should i look for when i go to the stores ... what serires to look for ... please help!!!! as far as all that goes i dunno what im suppose to b looking for, as a kid i loved playing cars, now just wanna collect!
im 40 years old and i still got the original paddy wagon from when i was a kid, also still got the red baron among others, waiting for my son to get old enough[he's 10 months old and a very unexpected blessing, our first child.] to appreciate them till then,i'll get him hot wheels to demolish like i did.ahh the good ole days.
I got the Sizzlers Fat track oval from Toys R us back in 2006! Get 5 cars going on that!
Back in the 70's they had the Hot wheels car wash that shot the cars out at about 50MPH(I'm Guessing) or hard enough to put a gash in my cousins head trying to watch the cars come out.
Someone on eBay this week is really sellen some old HotWheels But I think their going for too much ..Sounds like someone died and they're sellen the collection the person left behind Only if they came down on some of the Sizzler ChopCycles I'll buy them all.
It looks like that they had a lot better sets back then with the speedometer to tell u how fast the car goes, and how the dual a rot runner drag set had parachutes that slowed the car down, and I like how they had the stand up things to keep the track in the air so that like now you have to put it on a table or something
Greatest boys toys ever!!...Snake and mongoose hot wheels. I am 47 now, and i feel real sorry for the kids today. No tree houses no snake and mongoose no vertibirds or big wheels. We had the best toys in the late 60's and early 70's bare nun. They filmed the 1/4 mile shots at O.C.I.R. in orange county, CA. next to the 5 freeway. Nothing left ofcourse of that strip. We used to sneak in their crawling on our hands and knees thru the drain pipes!..Oh the good ol' days.
@Manongjojo Sizzlers are the Ultimate Hot Wheel s cause they had a motor and ran at llightning speed on the Fat Track.....IO got so, so, so many Sizzlers from all over the world.. The good ol days..
I had a few of wheel cases and the big box. the Red Line Hot Wheels Lot of 127 Cars - Race & Rally Case.I just looked it up on e-bay.oh well..we had fun with our cars.matchbox and hot wheels.hours and hours.
When I Was 7, My Brother Picked Out a Present For Me For Christmas, It Was The Snake - Mongoose Hot Wheel Set. Boy, Do I Wish Still Had That, That Was The Greatest Toy I Ever Owned. Well I Guess Next To Super Toe And Evel Kneivel. Remember Those? I`m 47 Now But Could Still Play With Those toys.
Sounds like Rod Serling on the Sizzler ad. We loved these when we were kids, the hours we spent inches from the floor watching those cool cars whip around the tracks...what a great toy concept,
I got many presents over the years but never got as excited over one as when i got the Sizzlers California 8 set for Christmas of 1970.Still remember one of the cars was a dud and wouldn't charge, none the less it was great.
Darn. I was born in the 90's, Not like today, we have the Wii, The Mp3 and DVD's. Back then, My Dad must have had this stuff when He was my age. This is a prime example of how Boys in the 60's and 70's had fun.
I had the speedometer thingy when I was a kid. I don't remember if it came with a larger set. Maybe my older brother remembers... it was actually his, hehe.
I remember carrying those cars in my pants pockets until I could barely walk. I also remember my mom whipping us with hot wheels tracks when we'd break shit or call the old neighbor guy a butt wipe.
I had the Snake. My friend had the Mongoose. We had to order them from a special promotion. It took about 10 weeks for them to arrive. That was a lifetime of waiting for a 5th grader.
Good times, good times. I remember my first green Custom Camaro and track. When the car would roll over the hump I created from books and flew in the air, I was hooked!!
Yes thats rod serling. He used to do commercials after the zone show. We used to go to a trucking company in pomona, ca. and get free track because they used the orange track to guide the load strapes over the flat bed loads. so they had hundreds of feet of this stuff just layin around! In those days you would just hop over the fence and help yourself. No police helicopters and news choppers following your every move. Just kids having harmless fun. We had the best toys back then!!!
I am 50 years old and I still get excited when I see Hot Wheels on display in the stores...These commercials bring back so many great memories, not to mention Hot Birds!
@Tigerblade2008 I'll be 49 this year and these commercials bring back such great memories, I actually remember all these commercials and which sets I had. My son is 9 and I had to introduce him to some of the vintage sets I got on eBay. Glad I also got the reissued Sizzlers "Big O" Fat Track and some cars from Target. I'm smiling right now.
@7thgroove Same here dude. I loved these toys! I did the ebay thing a few yrs back. When I was 10 I had the Sizzlers California 500 set.....4 cars lap counter and the scramble start.
still have all my Hot Wheel cars. The Snake, Boss Hoss. But in the 70s, when I was a teen, I gave all my tracks away! Super Chargers, Road Runners, Garage. God, I'm in idiot! Oh well, my cars are worth some dough.
I loved Hot Wheels when I was young. There was a store in Menlo Park NJ. called Arcadian Gardens.I remember walking in and there they were a whole rack full of 1968 Hot Wheels! Never thought they'd be this popular 40yrs later. Sizzlers were my favorites.
im 13 turning 14 and my dad got pissed and cleaned out my room (gutted it) and thru away my massive bag of hotwheels cars from wen i was like 8 :( i had like 4 rare ones aswell ohwell XD
I feel sorry for girls, most never had the joy of having a hot wheel. And like most of us, before i started collecting, and the joy for any kid is opening a hot wheel, tearing up the box to pieces and roaring down 1/64 street. Ah the good ol' days... im only 15 though, and i wish i had money to but more, i had a dollar today and bought a killer copter!!! some people never grow up right? Hot Wheels are a passion to me, and to almost every guy out there and the cool thing is, their an investment!
I actually saw 'The Mongoose' and 'The Snake' go head to head at the Las Vegas Speeddrome in 1971-ish. (I forget who won.) Then my Dad bought me their Hot Wheels box-set and Hot Wheels coloring books for Christmas.

Ugh, God. This makes me wish I was a kid back then. Instead of my friends playing like this and all, we stand 10 feet away and text.

I actually have the 12 car rally case. How much would you get if you sold it? , although mine has been used and isnt in mint condititon.

Sounds like Rod Serling on the Sizzler ad. We loved these when we were kids, the hours we spent inches from the floor watching those cool cars whip around the tracks...what a great toy concept,
UnpunishedMovie 1 year ago
I got many presents over the years but never got as excited over one as when i got the Sizzlers California 8 set for Christmas of 1970.Still remember one of the cars was a dud and wouldn't charge, none the less it was great.

Darn. I was born in the 90's, Not like today, we have the Wii, The Mp3 and DVD's. Back then, My Dad must have had this stuff when He was my age. This is a prime example of how Boys in the 60's and 70's had fun.

I abused the shit out of these as a kid.

I remember carrying those cars in my pants pockets until I could barely walk. I also remember my mom whipping us with hot wheels tracks when we'd break shit or call the old neighbor guy a butt wipe.
TankBanana 2 years ago 13
I forgot about that, getting whipped witht the track! Ahh, good times, good times... lol xD
JABBADABBADOODOO 2 years ago
@TankBanana when you was kid long time as your mom did whipping you with belt (my mom did on me in 2000 or 2001 after dad divide her)?

@TankBanana What you just said is possibly the greatest thing to ever say on a video like this.

I hated when the chrome wore off the tires.
Great toys.

droidz234 2 years ago
Yes thats rod serling. He used to do commercials after the zone show. We used to go to a trucking company in pomona, ca. and get free track because they used the orange track to guide the load strapes over the flat bed loads. so they had hundreds of feet of this stuff just layin around! In those days you would just hop over the fence and help yourself. No police helicopters and news choppers following your every move. Just kids having harmless fun. We had the best toys back then!!!

My son is 9 and I had to introduce him to some of the vintage sets I got on eBay. Glad I also got the reissued Sizzlers "Big O" Fat Track and some cars from Target. I'm smiling right now.

I loved Hot Wheels when I was young. There was a store in Menlo Park NJ. called Arcadian Gardens.I remember walking in and there they were a whole rack full of 1968 Hot Wheels! Never thought they'd be this popular 40yrs later. Sizzlers were my favorites.

cheesedude24 2 years ago
I feel sorry for girls, most never had the joy of having a hot wheel. And like most of us, before i started collecting, and the joy for any kid is opening a hot wheel, tearing up the box to pieces and roaring down 1/64 street. Ah the good ol' days... im only 15 though, and i wish i had money to but more, i had a dollar today and bought a killer copter!!! some people never grow up right? Hot Wheels are a passion to me, and to almost every guy out there and the cool thing is, their an investment!
