How did he forget to mention the IxToc disaster 30 years ago in the Gulf? It was the same disaster given the same useless tries to cap a well pipe at only 200 ft. It spewed oil for 9 months and was capped only after 2 relief wells were dug near it. This is the same disaster 30 years later and only drilling relief wells will get it capped...some time in late summer early fall.

Fallowing the land for fuel is a non-option. Hemp can replace plastics that currently are manufactured out of oil and paper made from trees, as well as textiles currently made from oil or cotton. Cotton currently uses 50% of herbicides and pesticides. Hemp is a super food too, but not a good fuel source.
