  • Well-Spoken. Articulated Perfectly.Good Points.You're a Genuis. Cool. I Think,U have a Genius I.Q. Good Stuff. Thx for Posting.

  • This video is a waste of time... it says the obvious, and doesn't offer any practical solution for the masses. The tail (us) does not wag the dog (the oil elites/globalists)... so to insist that our governments/corporations give us solar, wind, thermal energy - it just doesn't work like that. They kill leaders who insist on change, look at Kennedy and MLK, Jr., and they spray Corexit on the people who won't get out of the South.

  • If you azz holes don't like oil. Then SELL YOUR CARS and STOP Eating,Traveling, and every god dam thing els that uses oil or oil products. You really what to do the country a favor? put a bullet in your head if you don't like oil! This country is fcuked with out getting are own!

  • yeah shure, fix it ,and then maybe the next few years it will happen again, and then you guys make another youtube video of this and say you'll fix it one more time again, dont u get it,its time to stop

  • ROBERT REDFOR A MAN OF QUALITIES!!! LOVE HIM SINCE 'THE GREAT GATSBY' MOVE. HE IS ANOTHER GOOD, CLEVER AND SPECIAL HUMAN BEING.

  • Well, I'm sorry if Robert Redford is one of the few artists who came out to say something about this tragedy. At least he has the decency to say it out loud: WAKE UP AMERICANS!!

  • Why aren't big movie stars coming out in favor of industrial hemp, the greatest, cheapest, cleanest and most reliable source of bio-diesel fuel and oil in the world?

    C'mon already!!!

  • YOU ARE A LION. ROAR LOUD . SO THE REST OF THE WORLD CAN HEAR YOU .

  • Fuck Robert Redford and his hypocritical ways!!!!

  • find the face book site- 10 billion strong to visualize sustainable energy - like and share thank you, da Prof- we make it so

  • Just what we need...some rich prick talking about a disaster that will have no effect on himself.

  • @papasimian You're an idiot.

  • if there were no oil companies, who would provide fuel for Redford's private jet??

  • @genie0390 Knowing Redford, he already has something that runs on hydrogen.

  • MIHOP turned LIHOP.

  • HEMP OIL N O W!!!

  • The sad truth is that all the the alternative energies put together only fill a small void in the energy we need...solar,wind, etc....and no environmentalist wants to go with nuclear power the one energy that can fill a large void...all other energies are government subsedized...it's easy to talk scraping oil when your alternative is pie in the sky at this time in science...we could start by driving more efficient vehicles..Smart car...80 mpg...but where do we stick our 4 kids and groceries?

  • @1206Simi

    ...it's called HEMP FUEL!

Henry Ford manufactured a hemp fueled car in the 30's(it was even partially BUILT from HEMP)...it's documented on youtube.

    >>>but hearst and rockefeller put that to bed when they outlawed cannabis(hemp).

    >>>your "sad truth" is good government BULLSHIT..

... hemp is a fast growing, highly 'renewable' fuel source that can easily relax our reliance on petrol!!!!.

    HEMP NOW!

  • Day 68: Why isn’t the A-Whale in the Gulf yet?

So where is the A-Whale now? In the Gulf? Not yet. It’s on its way there after being tied to a dock in Norfolk, Virginia, and won’t be allowed to join the cleanup effort until the Coast Guard and the EPA figure out whether it meets their standards

  • The A-Whale bills itself as the largest open-water oil skimmer - the ship’s owners recently refitted the ship to do exactly the kind of work that the US so desperately needs in the Gulf of Mexico, & to do it on a vastly larger scale than current operations can handle. According to the ship’s project manager, the entire American effort in 66 days has skimmed off 600,000 barrels of oil. The ship’s owners claim that A-Whale can skim 500,000 barrels a day

  • THE PROBLEM isn't that the word isn't OUT! it is that we don't prosecute a politicain when he lies . WE don't stop a company when they break the law. We think that movie and TV stars are going to do more than talk about it.

THE REAL TERRORISTS to America are the OIL co.'s and the POLITICIANS. WE need to stop fighting wars for TOWELHEADS and TAKE CARE of the problems in our own country FOR ourselves. WHAT about OUR homless and JOB LESS? WHAT about OUR neighbors?

  • If France can export electricity with Nuclear Power then we could do the same.

  • This is pure environmentalist bullshit. Redford wrings his hands that oil spills haven't been cleaned up--here's news--no oil spill has ever been 'cleaned up' in history! Not a single one! But there is technology available (skimmers) but Obama has turned them down for some inexplicable reason. Redford blames politicians who take oil money during campaigns, but never mentions Obama was the largest single recipient of BP money during the last election.

Obama is utterly incompetent as POTUS

  • From what I can see this seems like the parking place for Ignorant Teabaggers...

  • Robert...why don't you and all your liberal Hollywood film stars get together and invest your millions in research and developement of alternative energy sources instead of your film festivals that do nothing but bring in more money for your personal pocketbooks....you know your buddies who live in mansions, like Oprah Winfrey...mansions that have a huge carbon footprint on our earth....have you seen Opra's house...I have...you guys have millions you can get us started on alternate energy....

  • @1206Simi - Good point...though Redford seems to play it lower key than Oprah

  • "The actual exploratory drilling was approved by the Obama administration on April 6, 2009."

"BP and its employees have given more than $3.5 million to federal candidates over the past 20 years, with the largest chunk of their money going to Obama, according to the Center for Responsive Politics."

"Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.) banked almost $17,000 from the oil giant in 2008 alone and has lined her war chest with more than $28,000 in BP cash overall."

  • @bebopredux AGREED. and it is amazing that Obama would have the nerve to even mention GW Bush name.

    .

There has never been a president either dem or republican that refused to step up and take responsibility for his presidency

  • @curatrix2008 Not surprising you don't have a page to comment on ...This spill was entirely the Result of Cheney and Bush, and their coziness with the same industry that paid for their election ....you are as phony as your comments wise up

  • @sjcpal FIRST, this spill didn't happen when Bush and Cheney were in office. Each month since bush/cheney were out of office, o'bama had to shut them down or give them permission to drill. In spite of BP's 700 violations obama gave them permission each and every month. all 18 months.

  • @sjcpal Yes, i don't have a page for you to haunt and hump my leg. Man up and say whatever you have to say on the thread.

  • @curatrix2008 I said it, you are a PHONY, you sound like a lobbyist for either the Teabaggers or the Republican party , either way trying to blame this on the current add. is as stupid as it gets , everyone knows Cheney was in seceret meetings with big oil during the bush admin. and worked for Haliburton , In my book that makes him at least 2/3 responsible for the whole mess ..To try and say it is obamas' fault is just Retarded which sounds like you

  • @sjcpal So, you are just here to make personal attacks if I don't wanna be best friends. Are you going to be a stalker?

  • @curatrix2008 Actually was just checking out the video and the Robert Redford website , couldn't believe all the people on the Right promoting ignorance ..no I'm done with you ..

  • @sjcpal good riddance . . . git

  • @sjcpal LOL someone has to help bob, he thinks cheney is still in office. LOL

  • How fortunate for obama and his cap and trade that we had an oil spill. Americans have opposed cap and trade; awww, but now, now the images of the beaches and the wildlife might just be enough to get his pet project passed.

  • BP send Obama the most for his election. Obama has been president for 18 months. It was his administration that kept giving BP a pass each and every month inspite of 700 violations. That was barry not dick cheney.

  • @curatrix2008 Wow you are delusional

  • @sjcpal get back to me in a few months when the cap n trade is obama's new campaign

  • Keep up with all the latest oil disaster news on PigMine2. Please Subscribe.

  • If the Founding Fathers didn't need no stinking oil, WE don't need no stinking oil! Yeh it'll suck but let's ask - which would suck worse? the slow oil apocalypse that destroys us all slowly, or a continued toying of oil from the ocean that randomly increases the chance of even more oil disasters? Not a lot of options. I say radical legislature needs to be made to save life. Screw politics, of course, no one will like that option either. Bye Yall!

  • All I hear is people saying Ban Ban Ban.... well a) Then stop using plastic and Oil like nutters. If there is no demand there is no production. b) The main perpetrator for this is the deregulation of Oil safety brought by Cheney. Hang him and retract his laws. c) What makes sense banning, is any activity that has no emmergency plan or no plan B. Even if BP had a pen factory, it could destroy a whole area if it was unregulated and with no plan B. Just do not allow oil companies to roam free.

  • Taxes on America will do nothing for the environment. The taxes will only enrich Harry's cronies. Americans. You are too smart to fall for this BS!

  • Push for a new energy tax?? You (video creator) are more pathetic than Tony hayward could ever be!! You communist garbage, stick your rules for radicals where the sun doesn't shine.

  • Tthis is BS as it will not take critical comments.

  • Redford makes too much sense... the lawyers and lobbyist are licking their chops...

  • He's right, it was necessary. That's why it's imperative not to waste this chance to get off oil and get the public to understand why. End the chokehold oil has on our country!

  • How did he forget to mention the IxToc disaster 30 years ago in the Gulf? It was the same disaster given the same useless tries to cap a well pipe at only 200 ft. It spewed oil for 9 months and was capped only after 2 relief wells were dug near it. This is the same disaster 30 years later and only drilling relief wells will get it capped...some time in late summer early fall.

  • @jasonlajoie Relief wells are probably not going to work. The underlying sea bed has been ruptured and now oil is coming up through the rock and the sea floor. Top kill ruptured the whole mess. The relief wells might help but it's far from a sure thing because now the sea floor is leaking oil.

  • @shellius Well that's really positive of you...

  • It's sad how many people are showing off their ignorance by posting here. And then to be belligerent about it. Truly sad. Sure, blast Redford for speaking out against oil companies who are in collusion with our gov't. He's not saying anything new. If it wasn't for oil company greed and their pawns in Congress we could have started a cleaner energy policy decades ago. It's too bad the government doesn't have the people's best interest in mind, but rather feeds the greed of those in power.

  • It's horrific that while this spill is still going on.....all Washington can think of daily is to hold their special forums, courts and inquisitions of WHO IS TO BLAME!! STOP the SPILL FIRST...then drag everyone afterwards into your court system...I wonder what it would take to get a connected chain of people around land as close to the GUlf as possible....hand in hand.....Won't help the spill however it will make our PRESENCE known...WE ARE TIRED of the Manipulation of the people to the people!

  • @bailjustin - he volunteered his opinion. He's an American.

  • Agreed we need to avoid this problem. It would not have happened if we were drilling ON LAND in Alaska! Thank you Congress for Blocking that. So they had to drill very deep, way off shore, to get it. So is China, and other internationals. Should we stop ourselves only? How about we raise or eliminate the CAP on fines companies have to pay to clean up? How about we do oil, clean coal, nuclear, solar, wind, geothermal, and all others. Beware the bandwagon here... oil is evil = stupidity.

  • @TheJackel0pe Do you work for Sarah Palin? She's brain-dead, by the way.

Alaska has oil for about 6 months. Why bother.

  • @TheJackel0pe

As an Alaskan, I deplore what you said here!

  • Redford's fix : massive joblessness, more reliance on Islamist oil, no difference to the environment in the long term because the world is going to be here for BILLIONS of years with so many more lifeforms to come long after we are gone, hopefully into space.

  • Robert Redford makes me want to throw up.

  • That's right, lose jobs. If we could drill in safer places, we wouldn't have to go a mile down and try to fix a problem. It would be an easy fix. What a bunch of know-it-all actors.

  • Who let the old people stay up past their bed times, what is up with all the CAPS LOCK rants?

  • We need to listen to this man.

  • It is tragic and BP needs to be held accountable for the loss of life, jobs & ecosystem. When is the U.S. going to step in and help solve the problem? Obama can say he is angered and hold himself accountable but has anyone seen him take a stand and start trying to solve the problem.?

  • Senators are not the only problem. Maybe take a look at how much money Obama got from BP. And why isn' the mayor of N. O. screeming at B.O. to take care of this major problem swim down there and cap it himself ! By the way can you or Al buy me wind or solar system so I can have free power.

  • Wow I thought Robert Redford was dead.

  • They should have plugged it with a senator weeks ago. Spieces of animal will be lost now. In alaska nothing is as it was.

  • word!

  • WELL SAID NO OFF SHORE OIL DRILLING..BAN OFF SHORE OIL DRILLING

  • @pattie2208 You want no more offshore drilling for the US--but have no problem with China drilling anywhere they feel like. Typical Lib--your hate is directed at Americans with 'R's' by their name, and little more. You are not capable of clear thought, only hate for anyone who thinks differently than you. Nice goin, Libs.

  • @jmshaw357 - I don't think this is is a LibDem/RepubConserv paradigm - this is about people who like to KICK IT at the BEACH! A lack of gov't control of oil piggies is the crux of this issue. They'll poison every ocean WE have and laugh about it from the resorts that will provide clean swimming water for the elite ONLY. It must end.

And now, I haven't owned a car for over three years now.

  • @MKUltra3 GOOD POINT and obama didn't stop them in 18 months he's been office and obama and libs still try to blame bush.

    .

at anyone of the 18 months obamas admin gave BP the go ahead in spite of their 700 violations, OBAMA could have shut it down and avoided this. HE DIDNT

  • @jmshaw357 YAE I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ALL OFF SHORE DRILLING COUNTRIES THA T DRILL OM OUR SHORE. MY HATE IS NOT FOR AMERICANNS YOU JERK I'M NOT A LIB. I'M CAPABLE OF ANYTHING YOU IDIOT..

  • @pattie2208

no off shore drilling? How about YOU stop driving your car, flying on vacation, buying groceries at the store shipped and harvested thru an oil dependent industry. Oil dependency provides us/contributes to ALL the comfort in our lives now.

Good and bad, oil is with us for as long as we are dependent on it.

What's interesting is that the industry has gotten away with minimal/negligible practices without objective inspection. The lesson stems from the failure of Gov. supervision.

  • @pattie2208

yes, yes, what we need is a clean renewable energy source!

BUT,..what the fuck is that source?? can it power 18 wheelers, cargo trains, ships, airliners??

we will need a lot of electricity so can we build nuclear plants?? hell no!! can we use coal resources?? hell no!! Redford and his group will sue the pants off anyone trying such approaches!

so what's the answer?? we need a clean renewable energy source

  • Legalize Hemp ! We need a "new" cleen Energiesurce !

  • @nicolei2 Two things, that is not relevant at all, and hemp is not the same thing as weed.Hemp is a different part of the plant.

  • @nicolei2 Using land that should be growing food to fuel our energy needs is ridiculous. We will have 9 billion people on this planet soon and will need all the resources we have to feed them. Fallowing the land for fuel is a non-option. Hemp can replace plastics that currently are manufactured out of oil and paper made from trees, as well as textiles currently made from oil or cotton. Cotton currently uses 50% of herbicides and pesticides. Hemp is a super food too, but not a good fuel source.

  • i join you in this mission!

  • excellent well said

  • judging by the comments here, it's not just the oil companies and "their parrots in congress" --- it's the people who by extension repeat the same tired lines and serve as a mouthpiece for Big Oil. you people disgust me, make me ashamed to be of the same species.

  • Let's support green, clean and beauty and ban the deadly ugly greedy

  • props for standing up and telling it like it is!!

  • Way to go Robert!!

  • People are so fooled by celebrity.

  • @phmayor Even more scary is the fact that people are actually fooled even more by the many corrupt people in Govenment which has far, far greater and more serious consequences than by entertainers.

Take your choice - you get to decide who to be fooled by in this world. OR you can decide to be fooled by NOBODY.

  • Excellent! Wake up America! Wake up world!!

  • Its not just American people in a newspaper article that I read this morning Nigerian waters are in just as much trouble too.

  • It's the absolute truth, that it took something like this to wake up some of the american people who up until now have turned a blind eye to the oil interests of our congress and presidents for that matter. Now is the moment to go green and show as many of the images as possible so my generation and the youth of today see first hand the consequences of our actions or rather inactions.

  • Awesome Robert!! Keep at it and make a difference!!

  • @phmayor

What the fuck are you talking about?

  • I so agree..... this is so sad.

  • well said Robert Redford!

  • And the birds what?. Nobody do nothing for this poors birds : (

  • Check out my tribute to Haiti's victims!

  • it'd be a lot better if you could offer these videos with subtitles :)

  • I think The6000Sabre is loving the attention here. Bless.

When the protests start being organized, please everybody consider setting a day aside to join the masses in your city showing unity against this typically insane attack on America's sweet beaches and wildlife. Remember, Nixon stopped stepping up the troops in Vietnam because of the SIZE of the people protesting. Don't be passive this summer!

  • Iron Ore from Australia is ideal to plug off the oil spill.

    watch?v=T8lDgmeENug

  • biggest contributor of BP that would be Obama, hello they knew

  • Man I wish Redford were President. Love that guy.

  • put it all in perspective : /watch?v=EjmtSkl53h4

  • Just Google: George Carlin, environment.

  • Perhaps when Obama socializes [nationalizes] the oil industry, these sorts of thing will never happen.

BTY, I'm selling the Brooklyn Bridge this weekend. No reasonable offer, refused!

  • Robert Redford, call your office, Al Gore needs a side kick.

  • @The6000Sabre Man you are an ignorant one. Just to try to open your mind a little bit , if it is still possible , check : thevenusproject or thezeitgeistmovement website.

  • Hey Redford! It took petroleum to make the film that all your movies were put on. And to generate the electricity needed to show them in theaters and for the air conditioning and to make the pop corn. And likely 95% of the movie goers drove to the theater in an automobile. Automobiles that did NOT run on solar or wind power. You are just another loud mouthed liberal hypocrite saying one thing and doing the exact opposite. GO AWAY, Redford!

  • Redford is spewing the same old Luddite anti industrialization scare tactics the left always trots out after an accident like this. Just like after Three Mile Island (where nobody died or was injured). If you don't like the modern world, Redford, then go live in a cave with Osama Bin Ladin. And take your horde with you!

  • We as Americans have got to take back our country and stop big business from running things! Congress has no balls anymore whatsoever! That's sad.

  • good video, go for it Robert

  • Shut up Redford! You are an old leftist washed up airhead actor. We neither need or want your fucking two cents. BTW what fuels your expensive European cars and your private jet? Hmm? Kool-Aid, perhaps?

  • @The6000Sabre - This is not a left/right issue. It isn't Democrat or Republican. This is a whitewash to hide the fact that everybody loves THE BEACH. Who doesn't? That coast is destroyed, and the stink of it alone will keep people away. Forget actually letting your kids swim in it. No European car or (possible? rumored?) private jet comes close to the damage of this spill, this contemptuous attack on America by a corporation. Wake up.

  • @MKUltra3 YOU wake up! This was an industrial accident. Shit happens. BTW don't be a HYPOCRITE! instead ride a bicycle, and saw logs. Throw your computer in the trash. Because it too is made from petroleum.

  • @The6000Sabre OmG another ignorant saying idiotic things.

  • @The6000Sabre Name Calling? Really. Why don't you bow out of this conversation and let the adults have an intelligent interaction of ideas and comments. The Oil companies have enough mouthpieces, they are called Congressmen. They don't need another. Quit drinking from the Fox Kool-Aid trough and be on the side of mankind Dude. You and others like you are just sad. I hope you wake up some day.

  • @Eissielib, In other words, you want to stroke each other. Is that it?

  • @Eissielib I don't need FOX news. I write my own material, thank you.

  • @The6000Sabre You are sad and paranoid person, and the modern world -the future world -doesn't need your "material" as you put it, or the likes of you and your primitive beliefs whuich are more akin to OBL than you acuse others of being. Get lost in a cave yourself!

  • @rjvarisco Well I'm so F-ing glad we've got you here to set the record straight in the modern world. So tell me, what's your plan?

BTY it's spelled [which]. Small point, I know.

  • The cost of oil drilling is the safety of the world, are we that stupid not to change and get away from ancient forms of energy? It is the most stupid way of producing energy. We have to embrace modern technologies of green energy or perish.

  • your right maybe its time for america to wake up

  • From your mouth to world ears. It's time to learn from our mistakes and evolve.

  • Thanks for speaking out, Robert. We need your advocacy now more than ever. We know that you speak from your heart and soul, and you speak the truth. Don't ever stop.

  • Cheap energy is what feeds 6.6 billion humans. Go ahead and remove it and see what happens.

  • @DoubtingThomas666 OmG how can you be so ignorant? The idea is to develop other forms of generating energy and replace the existing one (oil) and not suddenly take oil away and not replace it. What could be cheaper than AIR or SUN energy???

  • @mrtaigra Google are we smarter than yeast. We are in over shoot and a new energy source hastens the process.

  • @mrtaigra Oh , and I almost forgot. The real deal is the geothermal energy. Just do some research on it.

  • @mrtaigra Seriously, it's like the perfect energy source.

  • @ChristoffaScott

your right robert maybe its time for america to wake up ia from canada and we need you to speak out to america and us policy on off shore rigging thank you robert

i still like you since i was a teenager bless you in your efforts

  • @mrtaigra

    Not ignorant.

Most people do not have an understanding of reality.

    You are one of them.

  • HoustonWeHaveAProblemFilm

  • (dot) com

  • go bob we need you now more than ever

  • We've been convinced that we would not have the advanced society we have now without the industries oil has brought us. If we had gone the route of electric or diesel cars we might well have advanced in a more human way.

Oil and coal are the dirtiest fuels. Products made from them could have been made w/ other oils and sources. The earth has been destroyed because of this monopoly. It has been a systematic blockage of other sources of energy. Everything made from fossil fuels is pollution

  • I think we're all in agreement with that, Robert. Very wise commentary on the situation, especially coming from a former Standard Oil employee. (oh yeah... I loved The Last Castle!!! It jerks my tears every time.)
