I thought this was Svankmajer's best feature film, and the most well-paced. Alice and Faust are both superb, though they can both be related back to earlier short films (respectively Jabberwocky and Don Juan); Conspirators is totally original - although apparently it was first conceived in the late '60s, in which context it probably makes more sense. Or maybe I just like him because I'm a pervert. Am I alone in finding this scene extremely satisfying, in a tactile and not-quite-erotic way?
