  • This video is a slice of heaven.

  • I love your cause and this video. As a proud Border Collie owner I have a deep respect for those dogs developed in the British Isles.

  • when greyhounds were used for as hunting dogs were

    they ever treated badly then?

  • No more than any other animal. The problem these days is the sheer number that come out of racing with plenty of life left in them.

  • there is another breed of dog that is used in controversial

way - especially in the States - and this is the so-called Pit-Bull Terrier. Currently, a millionaire American football

"star" named Michael Vick, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury on dog-fighting charges on his property

in the State of Virginia (home of former President George Washington)

Pity the animals, the fish, and the little children.

    oh how they are abused...

  • Or put it on youtube and get views, comments and 5 star ratings!

    Youtube the best!

  • Send this stuff to the bbc,

Can get you some pounds and it's cool to have your own video on bbc!

  • share the dinner ya. the brindle is nice looking color I just think they shouldn't race them and then kick them to the curb they are so sweet.little to big for me but nice dogs .I lover the tail on the lady lol Was chuck a pup he looked small? got some dinner anyway lol

  • Shouldn't the creator of this video be thanking you? What is wrong with this picture??

  • I don't think he likes to answer his viewers.

  • Did I miss something?

  • Yes, my video response!!

  • In the US, alone, 20,000 greys are being killed because of overbreeding!! Sometimes the killing is gory & brutal! This is not including other countries such as the UK, Spain,Ireland,& on & on!

  • Oh what beauties! Thank you sharing Marion!

  • YYou ae quite welcome! I am very passionate about greyhounds and their fate!Thank you for viewing and commenting!

  • Nice video!

  • i love dog´s 5 stars!!!! this dogs are very fast

  • wow

  • very interesting . 5

  • Peri, do you ,yourself, have a greyhound??

  • No.

  • Very interesting and professional documentary, 5*

  • Peri, don't believe it, a greyhound called Melly who is "food orientated", how spooky.

  • Your doggie alter ego!

  • They're so deer-like and gentle looking creatures.

  • What a Fantastic day was had by all, Honey never stopped for 3 hrs, she had a ball!. Adopting her was the best thing we've have ever done.

  • The dogs had nearly as much fun as the people!

  • the hounds look as if they're having so much fun

  • that was very interesting peri, thank you!

  • Peri did you record all this?

It looked like a freakin national geographic doc.

  • All my own work! It's amazing what you can do with a wee hand held camera as long as you accept the limitations of resolution and auto focus.

  • Great advert for greyhounds!

  • Love greyhounds. Love all animals, really... if I could adopt each and every one of them, I would. This was an excellent video for an excellent cause.

  • You sad bastard.

  • youre just jealous just cos you cant make any vids, stupid bastard.

  • btw I was referring to markat123.

  • Thanks for another great video, periurban! Another feather in your cap, and another generous contribution to the world. I loved the part where they were galloping by: they were so joyful!! My jack russell pricked up his ears when he heard the dogs 'talking.' His fantasy is to be a big dog like them...

A lovely video and a good cause. xx

  • My x got custody of my rescued greyhound but she was one of the best dogs I ever had.

  • Absolutely gorgeous dogs. My neighbour's daughter has a greyhound called Indie and she's beautiful. They should be given the care they are needed, as with any animal.

  • we have two greyhound. one wth 3 legs

    they are fab

  • My dad had one with one eye.

  • wish we were there, but we're not members. We got kenny and bongo from DCGR

  • So join

  • Nice video, beautiful dogs. We have a Greyhound Rescue chapter in the Chicago US area that sets up in large malls and they always have a crowd; the dogs behave so well even in a very busy mall full of people.

  • Ah~ What pretty dogs they are.

I used to want one when I was a kid. I guess I'll have to check into the local greyhound rescue (Theres bound to be one nearby, eh?) after I get out of college. That's a long way down the road, but it wouldn't be fair to a dog to get a new owner, and then the owner just to leave for college after a year.

  • Well done, Peri. A friend of mine works in greyhound rescue, adopts and fosters greys. They have great temperaments, but after the racing experience here in the states, it takes them quite a while to get used to home life. Various organizations foster and rescue them. But not everyone can adopt a grey successfully - they're a challenge at first.

  • Yeah, that's why they need fostering.

  • True, and after that and the right owner match, it's a wonderful thing! They are so beautiful.

  • Beautiful. Both the video and the gesture.

  • Very, very well done Peri :) I miss Scotland much! You always bring me closer somehow.

  • This is very well done, it looks like a professional documentary.

  • Thanks Peri! Lovely video. Beautiful dogs and an important message.

  • What a beautiful sight the dogs running and getting their exercise. Thank god for rescue groups like this.

Dogs are truely mans best friend:)

  • It's great that someone's paying attention to these dogs. Wow that looks like a beautiful area to live in.

  • Sweet man. It's very upsetting to know that people can turn on such a loyal and loving dog like a greyhound. I'm glad to see there are organizations devoted to helping them.

  • Great stuff. Thanks for sharing Peri.

  • Awesome vid! Connecticut has dog racing too and people are finally realizing the retired Greys need homes so there are several websites that help with adopting them.

  • so many scotish persons ! i love it :D the accents are amazing :D

  • Very well done Peri! I've had an Irish Wolf hound and Dane mix when I was younger, very beautiful animals...

  • Great, great video Peri. It is a subject here in the states that gets little attention also. There are so many animals that go unwanted after they are deemed useless. Cats included. It takes people like you to sound the alarm about their plight.

Thank you for this video and spreading the word about these wonderful dogs.

    Great editing as well.

  • Beautiful dogs, and a very well put-together film. Did you make this for them to use in promotion? They've certainly sold me on what a great pet a Greyhound would make.

  • Yeah, that's the idea. I'm hoping that they imbed it on their web page.

  • good job peri thanks

  • Nice dogs.

  • Awsome dogs.

  • I'd rescue them all if I could~!

We are stewards over animals, yet mankind 's greed and cruelty is worse than any animal's perceived shortcomings.

Thanks for showing how beautiful and sweet these gentle dogs are with their wonderful owners.

  • ooo rather cool video indeed!: )heh.. i liked how it had a litle interview style to it :)!

  • great video, i would love a greyhound one day

  • Beautiful dogs. Sadly, I don't think they're treated much better here in the States.

  • Where i live after the hunting season they hang the dogs off trees. the "bad dogs" the dogs that haven't done so well get hung low so their feet just about touch the ground making their death slower and more painful. :(

  • Thats horrible. :/ Why would anyone do such a thing?

  • Where do you live? Spain?

Whoever tortures mammals in such a way, they deserve to die in a similar manner.

  • why on earth would they destroy their own dogs? why such cruelty, that's horrific!

  • they just have no use for them. but why they get rid of them so cruelly i don't know. they hang the "good dogs" too but hang them higher for a quicker death.

i see the hunting dogs sometimes overpacked in a cage at the back of a pick up truck, i have no idea what i can do.

it's shameful i need to help the local animal refugee. thats something i could do.

  • yes, maybe there is an SPCA (society for prevention of cruelty to animals) in your country. If you find a website and want support, post it up here so we can all write to them!

  • thats a good idea. i should try and get footage and photos of this. put it on youtube. send it to the local paper (who have covered this story before) send it to the town hall mount up pressure. its a crime to ignore it and not even try to change things.

  • love the accents. Love the dogs

  • I want to get a greyhound one day they can absolutly leg it

  • First
