This was also in the 1972 season highlight film when they showed O.J. Simpson and quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Bobby Douglass running the football.
Definitely could be an NFL films song, don't know if it was. I feel like it could also be the opening credits music of a Blaxploitation detective movie or something
Love it kgmule - it does sound like something from NFL Films!
BTW - KPM 1100 is one of the best library albums ever - it has so many great songs, including Pearson's classic "Action In Memphis" which was used extensively in the 70s, as well as in "Black Dynamite."
@zzz1zzz1xxx & downinchinatown....YES, I know the tune from NFL Films Super Bowl VII highlight film, circa 1973. Hence my earlier post. I'll check out that KPM album zzz1, thanks...and by the way downinchinatown, thank you for the post!
@kgmule Saw the film again last night. Classic. (Does anyone out there know what the "belly protruding, socks sagging around his ankles, Kilmer was once again spiritual leader of the Redskins." song is?)
@marquettefootball I DON'T know the name of that song, man. But I've looked extensively for it. Great song, and great use of it as Kilmer with his "helmet askew" led the Skins downfield. It isn't on KPM 1110 "Life is for Living", which has a number of tunes from the SB VII highlight film, including "Thunderbird", "Action in Memphis", "Back Beat", and "Documentary Department". The search continues....

The Redskins faltered under the hot glare of the end zone, and now George Allen's "30 minutes to live" was down to 21.

@kgmule When it mattered most, Redskin execution had faltered. Charlie Taylor was open for an instant, but stumbled just before the ball arrived.

@MrMatt8204 Yes sir! I thought it was a good choice of music for when Taylor stumbled.
