To be Force Recon you need to be a Corporal or above in rank, perfect conduct, hard core, fit, a fish in the water(pass swiming test which is fucking real hard), try recon and later force recon.
@77musica- I've met one of the 1st Recon Battalion's commanders. He's President of Hargrave Military Academy now. To say what he accomplished while in the Marine Corps is amazing... that's not an adequate description.
@77musica hah, idk what info you get this from but its all from dirt and below, idk if you served before but if you did oorah to you but i joined recon straight up from boot went to itb for 2 months after that you get selected for MART and then you go to selection either MARSOC or RECON and i was a PFC when all this happened and we had PVT with us so nope you dont have to be corporal or above
@serge1060 true, while we were 0300s in general many times Recon would show up to test us and the rank was not an issue, but I was talking about FORCE RECON, which is more high up with CIA shit as you might already know...oooorah back to you leatherneck...
they got baby contracts you can get. it's good because you go to brc right after soi. i think the enlistment contract is 6 years for an 0321 baby contract
take the 267x MOS series route, go to Monterey, CA DLI, get a language. then work your way to MARSOC. you'll be a recon Marine with a language. the language will help you after you leave the suck and get into high speed fed gov't agency positions.
My recommendation is to sign up as 0311 or 0331. spend two years in infantry and KEEP UP on your physical conditioning. Then try out for Recon. If you enter under the Recon program and dont make 1st class swimmer, you will not qualify for recon and you will be dropped from training and subsequently get any other MOS they have left over. Which means you wont get the job you were hoping for.
