I am an American, and don't know where you got that information on how we perceive people with red hair (gingers). While I've heard gingers being called "Carrot Top" or "Rusty," I've never known anyone to mistreat someone for having red hair. My family loves red hair, and I was hoping my child would have it. I also work with 2 gingers, and the Scottish one says that life as a ginger is easier in the US.
