he might not be a bass 'god' but following guitar parts on bass isnt as easy as it sounds. keep in mind bassists have thicker strings, frets are farther a part, and in this case, the kid is using his fingers.

@UnderBlackStars Compression. Using a compressor or a multi-effects pedal with a compression setting on it. He's probably using a Boss CS-3 compression sustainer, since that's like the industry standard. But you can use whatever compression you can get 'cause it is a general effect.
