Sorry for my english, it is a simple steam condenser, great idea, but you need to seal it, so the steam form engine couldnt escape to atmosphere. We have that thing on ship, becouse we are useing a lot of chemistry to make water to be boiler frendly, so that water is very expensive an we cannot let it escape. Evaporator is a machine to make fresh water form sea water.
Yeah...6 of one, 6 of the other, and not particularly the best in either role. It does trap the liquid and vent the steam, though, which is all that it has to do.

i believe it is more of a condensor than an evaporater.
