If you want to get technical Dominicans they're not black. They're mulatto. The perception of what black is in America is pretty wrong. Technically Beyonce, Chris Brown, Jay-Z etc are mulatto.
- And any Dominican that says they're not black at all....is ignorant.
@NyaS92 Thank you. Oh, and I agree, the perception of what is black in the U.S. is warped. Many "black Americans" are mulattoes, not blacks. Also, the perception of "Hispanic/Latino" as a race in the U.S. is warped too. Hispanic or Latino is not a race, only culture/geographical identifier. I'm Hispanic, but only because it's my culture. My race is white. My ancestry is from Spain. But most of the "brown" Latinos in the U.S. are actually a Native American/white mixed race called mestizo.
The purpose of some dominicans that are clearly mixed is not to be called white, but to be recognized as what they really are, a mixture or races. People come on if you have African embrace it, but don't listen to others telling you to call your self black only. Embrace your European and Indigenous blood too. It is what makes you who you are.
@monkeysinafrica Yea and can u take your Pizza and get the fuck out the usa? The usa wouldnt b usa for The amazing Black people and The best Hispanic people . What have white people done for our country? Dont put down us dominicans
didnt the hodgetwins say he was black and like aying the same thing as you?....if i was watching the right video i guess. he said he dont like when sum hispanics dont claim dey're black. the same thing as you.
You are so right! Im Dominican and Trini and I dont get how Dominicans can blatantly deny their African Heritage. Spain ruled Hispanola, thats the only reason why Spanish is the language. Its mad sad how confused my people are.
I don't get some of these African Americans. They want people to claim that they are black, and deny their other heritage. Sorry, but I will not deny any of my ancestors (Spanish, African, and Native American). And yes, my heritage is that mixed. And that is the case for 75 percent of Dominicans. That isn't even counting Jewish, Asian, and Arab ancestry.
Boriquas, Dominicans, & Cubans don't have to answer to you. We are who we are, Hispanic. Take your inferiority complex on some else.
@cilomanfreebsd Agreed but most African Americans are mixed as well from the Native Americans and White Slave masters our raped their ancestors.I think its a matter of perception and what you see yourself as which I see myself as black. And no matter how mixed I my be the government sees me as black as well. This video is for people who think Dominican is their actual race oppose to their nationally! Being as dark as Wesley Snipes but denying you have African roots.Ludicrous!!
@blaqueeye Well it all depends on your level of mixture. If you are seen as black, probably is because your level of blackness is higher compared to the other mixtures. In dominican case, their level or european is the same as black or even higher. That is why they are seen as mixed. Us caribean people not only had a mixture back in our ancestors getting raped, but also our mixture come from very close families. Me for example, my two grandparents are European. My two grandmothers, tri racial.
@blaqueeye so true!!!! dominican is not a race. just like american is not a race. this video is for afro or black dominicans who like to think that they are different from all other black people. the only difference is culture and language. take that out and we are the same.
@blaqueeye Finally, someone is breaking down the truth. I feel like africans in America are still so bitter and want to love being black so much that they DENY that news flash you guys are very similar to hispanics and are probably mixed. "Red bones" don't come from being just black.
@wintersrealtalkshow Being part black African doesn't make you black, only partially black. You would be mixed race. Now I'm not taking up for the stupidity of some, but to be considered black anywhere outside of the U.S., you must be predominantly black. The U.S. had the one drop rule, so mulattoes, quadroons and octoroons were seen as blacks, even though they were 50-87.5% white. Someone with a great great great great black grandparent is not a black person, but a mixed race person. :)
To both Dominicans and Americans: If you are predominantly black African, then you are considered black. But, if you are only part black, then you are not a black person. The one drop rule didn't exist in D.R.. In the U.S. many blacks are not black, but are mulattoes, like most in D.R.. Most Dominicans are mulattoes. The census puts them at 73% of the country. Whites are 16%. There are more Whites by percentage in D.R., then blacks in the U.S. which are only12-13%. Only 11% in D.R. are blacks.
BTW, I love watermelon, friend chicken and kool-aid, and I'm a white guy.
Also BTW, mixed isn't "black" the same way mixed isn't "white". Mixed is mixed.
Black Americans have a "thing" about mixed people who don't say that their black and their proud, lol. Tara and Oprah used to give biracial people HELL for not taking up a black flag and waving it around like a lunatic. Tiger is half Thai, damn it, and Oprah essentially said "F&*K your mother".
@LucisFerre1 Fried chicken, watermelon and kool-aid is just part of southern cuisine. Whites and blacks in the south eat the same things. It's just when the blacks left the south and went to other parts of the country, they took southern food with them and people seen this southern food as "soul food" because only blacks in northern, eastern and western parts of the country ate this. But in the south, it's made by whites too. Blacks just made southern food popular outside the south.
@IslenoGutierrez Wow thank god, you are rational. The funny thing about all of this is that some AA get offended and have the nerves to tell us that we are self hatred. But, does that apply to us? if we are mixed and we don't want to be called black, does that apply to us? AA people definitely know that Dominicans and caribbeans are mixed. But those who get offended are the ones that are self hatred. They try to force an old law that they had about 1 drop rule that no longer exist. Yet some also
@Amalfrida have the nerve to force that law on us, but describe themselves as a mutt. Does this make sense? It is some black people who do not want to be black, therefore they want to claim everybody else even if their black DNA is 12%. Not saying that there is not black caribeans, but the vast majority are definitely mixed and a lot of times pass as another race or ethnic group, just as arabic, lebanese, or even indians.
@Amalfrida I agree. The American blacks had to abide by the one drop rule, which is extinct today, but it's theory still persists today in the way black Americans view themselves and they way other Americans view black Americans. Much of the AA population are mixed race, but because the one drop rule, they think being black means being at least some black. That rule did not exist in D.R., so the truth was able to shine through in D.R., which shows mixed race as mixed race, not black.
@IslenoGutierrez Agree. And that is something that I was arguing not long ago how unfortunately bi-racial americans have to put up with some people forcing them to say that they are black. When you don't ever hear whites forcing them to be white. The truth is that biracials are bi-racials, mix is mix wheather people like it or not. And yes, we never had the drop rule. And a lot of the times those AA that force others to say they are black, claim themselves as mutts. still when they are 80% black
@Amalfrida This is just a clear example of a person who is oppressed of his race and want to make others like him, so that he does not feel alone. It is crazy because the mixed people usually love their black side because that makes them different. What they don't like is to be called someones they are not.
@Amalfrida The average black African descent for Black Americans is 70-75%. Also, by black Americans trying to force the black identity on Dominicans, they are doing the very same thing the one drop rule did to them, forcing them to be blacks. Someone who is partly black is not a black person, but a mulatto, zambo or pardo. Mixed race is mixed race. It's the opposite with Whites, many are part Native American, but are seen as whites, not mestizos.
@IslenoGutierrez said [[I agree. The American blacks had to abide by the one drop rule, which is extinct today...]]
I almost spewed my drink when I heard Halle Berry invoke the 'one drop rule' to justify calling her 1/4 black daughter "black", which is basically spitting on her white baby-daddy ex-boyfriend and her own white mother. A "proud black woman" using a segregationist racist rule, designed to keep the white race "pure" is like a proud black woman joining the KKK. It's a STRANGE world.
@LucisFerre1 I agree. Mariah Carey, whom said she was black because in the U.S. the one drop rule states she is black. Well, that stupid broad didn't mention that the one drop rule does not exist anymore, so that thinking should be dead with it. Her mother is White, her dad is black American (whom are mixed with White) and her dad had a Venezuelan grandparent (likely Amerindian/white mixed) which makes her probably less 35-40% black ancestry, which means she's mostly not black.
@pflegel2010 That statistic about Venezuela is wrong. Venezuela is 68% mestizo, 21% white, 10% black and 1% Native American. Chavez is an Afro-mestizo, he is a mestizo that has some degree of African admixture. Some mestizos are like that, but most of the mestizos in Venezuela are Native American/European in mixture.
@IslenoGutierrez said [[Fried chicken, watermelon and kool-aid is just part of southern cuisine. And they know how to make it RIGHT too. 'Ever eat BB ribs made by white people? Most want to boil the damn things, lol, or soak them in beer.
@LucisFerre1 There is no "Brooklyn Puerto Rican". Puerto Ricans are from the island of Puerto Rico, Americans are from the U.S. (Brooklyn, New York). End of story.
@IslenoGutierrez said [[There is no "Brooklyn Puerto Rican". Puerto Ricans are from the island of Puerto Rico, Americans are from the U.S. (Brooklyn, New York). End of story.]]
HA-HA-HA OK, you've convinced me, there is no such thing as an African American.
I am free to listen to anyone trying to prove me wrong, as long as they are respectful. But I know there is no one that can prove wrong a person that is actually dominican and know her race. But come on just try.
Finally check my comment and see how many likes it has, you basically agreeing with one person and it is 2 against a whole bunch that think like I do, get over it.
Another thing I wanted to put up is that a lot of hispanics are comming to US. Here they have children and their children are Americans. In spanish media or PR and DR every news from US is about hispanics. This gives a clear image to the viewers that a majority of people in US are hispanics. Yet this is not real, the amount of Hispanic has surpassed the African American population, however, this doesnt mean that Americans are hispanics. It is what is happening in the situation of DR and Haiti.
@Amalfrida Tsk tsk tsk. U are 1 island, regardless of where the border splits you. U have a shared history & shared ancestry & it's quite interesting too. I learned a lot about it while in DR. I also learned that most Tainos were wiped out very early on by Spanish settlers and that most ppl who claim to have Taino roots do not, and that those that do usually don't have a significant amount, typically about 1%. I'll finish by encouraging u to analyse ur mentality and why u think the way u do.
Being Fully black with a hispanic background is beautiful. I love freaking people out when they first here me speak spanish becuz then i can educate them and tell like it is. Celia cruz really is one example of someone who is fully black, arlenis sosa, sammy sosa, and the list goes on. A people who are black and from latin countries already know and are used to seeing black people becuz at least half of their fam who are dark skinned and a few might be almost white looking.
For me it was difficult to fit in anywhere becuz i am an afro latina, which is basically a hispanic with afro ancestries, nd my parents are from honduras but they are black. in school i felt like an alien becuz i got along wit latinos and black people would bully me cuz i spoke spanish. thank god for my moms telling me who i am. Americans look at me nd think i am afro american, but I tell them no i am AFRO HISPANIC AND PROUD. =] alot of blk latinos have a hard time fitting in the U.S.
If they are black or not, they are still hispanics. They should accept that. It doesn't take away from the fact that they are hispanics!!!! Chris Tucker is Dominican???? Woooaaaaahhhh!! Didn't know that!!!! I'm Panamanian, and I'm black, but I'm still hispanic!!! Get over ittttt peopleeee!!!
honestly.... wtf? why are ppl like this lady no offense 2 her or any1 who agrees wit her caring about wat dominicans believe? if u guys knew some more facts u guys would understand y hey the way they are.in d.r they dont really have racism and if they do they completely oblivious 2 any of it. n if they come to america its a whole new fuckin story cuz of this white and black segregation bull shit. like one reason may say they aint black is probably becuz of the obvious reason... Umm... idk.. they
@ihdrab might not be BLACK!-_- n who the fuck knoes.. if they r then its they problem. 1 reson they could say that is cuz they dont knoe they jistory as in FAMILY TREE!. all ya ppl here actin like you knoe they family tree like really they might not even black at all n happen 2 look like 1. havent you guys heard of 2 black people who happened 2 somehow create a white baby which was in the newspaper? i dont think so. so wat u gonna say now? also back then b4 dominican rep. n haiti were seperated
@ihdrab they were clled hispanola. he haitians rebelled and won. im guessing none of u knew wat happened next... they enslaved many dominicans. it wasnt until the dominicans had they own rebellion and became more powerful than haiti becuz of that haiti went poor and honestly as 2 this day neva recovered. becuz of that some domnicans may hate blacks and dont like 2 b considered that becuz of they history. n get this straight ppl. there r diff types of african. like yea wtf. no matter wat
@ihdrab let the dominicans believe wat they want cuz in the end its they life n they can do wat they want with it. next time ppl try 2 put urself in their shoes cuz u come from different worlds. dominicans may always believe they aint black n oh well. mayb they not cuz they taino. it doesnt matter cuz in the end we all human beings n we r like all related cuz cells all come from one cell which ws the first cell ever.n that leads me 2 another lesson 2 teach. peace out ;P
Don't you know that they were just kidding about all of that. They're both African Americans who make jokes based on things they hear. Don't get worked up over nothing.
"Race" as applied to humans is a social construct, not a scientific one. The classifying of people as being of a certain "race" is entirely dependent upon their Phenotype AND the CULTURE of the society in which those Phenotypes are defined. Different cultures, different definitions for the same Phenotype. The American culture is one among many. No one culture should have a worldwide monopoly over "racial" definitions; to do so would be nothing short of presumptuous and downright ethnocentric.
This woman is pissed off over nothing because nothing she says make sense, If you don't know the meaning of mulatto it isnt black, neither a quadroon. If people are to embrasse one race why not embrasse the other races you have in you That is the problem with people, if they dont like to be called black, simply is because they aren't black, period. If you are black yourself, don't try to make others like you if they aren't. Dominicans have African ancestry, yet they arent black, they are mixed.
blackness! Not black, it's in the title. And this absolute denial of blackness is but a result of black and native American oppression by racist white supremacist. What the idiots are calling self hate. I call it an identity crisis I'm black, a description of a human I'm not part of some stupid race the morons gladly signing up for, for their slave masters. You are all confused or rather we're all confused. Get real.
@ajtemp2000 I think you are confused, read my paragraph again, and stop hating because if you are black, doesnt mean everybody is black, ppl are what they are and if I was to have a black father and white mother, I think they white side deserve some credit as well, Ill be mulatto, mix, therefore get clear.
@Amalfrida Re: Dominicans, if that's the case then you could literally say the exact same thing for African Americans. It's semantics. Makes no sense, why deny who you are, especially if it's clearly the majority. I don't think (black) Dominicans realize the reputation they have for lookin straight up crazy when they try to deny their blackness. You look just as black as a black American, yet you're "not black"? Really? It's called being delusional...the results of deeply instilled self-hatred.
@shespeaks165 Just to let you know, the dominican population is classified as 75% multiracial, 16% white and 11% black. It is crazy the huge mixconception ppl have about dominicans. The media reflect that dominicans are black, but If you were to go to dominican republic, you would be surprised. I am dominican, I dont even look1/4 black. Millions of dominicans look multiracial. Yet we still have black. The real Dominican level of blackness is usually about 40%. But dont get blinded by what you
@Amalfrida see on tv, because they don't represent the reality. Neither get blinded by the poor folk who come here from DR trying to get a better life. I am not saying there is not black dominicans, I am just saying that the most commonly you will find is multiracial, and yet the black ones have a little level of other races just like African Americans. Also, don't get confused, and remember there is haiti next to DR and a lot of haitians speak spanish and classify themselves as Dominicans.
@Amalfrida The average dominican can pass as arabic or indian, not as black. What the media shows you can definitely pass as black. Whereas I am dominican, I pass as Arabic because my level of blackness is less than 25% according to my DNA tests.
@Amalfrida As well as haitians are moving to DR and having children who speak spanish and they are already dominicans. But not the real representation of a dominican. The average dominican girl has caramel skin with straight long black hair and voluptuous body. I love the black in me, it is what makes me who I am, but I can't accept people who arent knowledgeable of our culture to come up and deny our other bloodlines which are Taino and European
@Amalfrida "the poor folk who come here"...spoke volumes about ur perspective. U protest FAR too much. Reality is u hate anything black, u've been taught to, and it's clear u associate blackness/African roots with lowliness & being beneath u, even when it's a part of u. It's really sad how deep the self-hatred goes. But then again, it's like I said, u sound like the avg black Dominican who wants to claim anything & everything but Africa. If u could extract it from ur bloodline, I'm sure u would.
@shespeaks165 You are very stupid person for not realizing that I do claim I have black, WHAT THE FU%^ DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY IF I'M NOT BLACK? if I am about 25% black I cant claim black. And no you have to be clear in this. The black dominicans are mostly poor weather you like it or not. It is not like AA who have a high standar like Caucassians. DR doesn't work like that and if you went to DR you should know it better, looklike you are just pretending you went. By the way you talk is like u
@Amalfrida I've been to DR. I saw ppl as dark as & darker than me (& I'm a blk American). They all thought I was Dominican-I wanted to tell them it's b/c they're black. I've family mbrs lighter than many DR blks I saw. Only diff is blk Americans acknowledge our African roots while blk Dominicans have been taught not to-even when they're undeniable. & just b/c "statistics" may say "75% multiracial" dsn't mean that goes 4 all. It's an avg-some r more, some less, and that's obvious just by looking.
@shespeaks165 yes you didnt even have to tell me you were a black american. Only AA get offended over a dominican saying that they are mixed. If you went to DR like you say, you should have seen a huge amount of multiracial, if you didn't maybe you got confused and went to Haiti. I never denied Dom. have african blood, but that doesn't make them black. Get over yourself, A skin color doesn't mean anything either. Is about facial features. There is black dominican too, but most are multiracial
@BonusCivis Yes, all new world black are mixed but what you can't understand is what level or blackness are you considered to be mixed. The average African American is at least 75% black, 20% european, and 5% native american. That is not enough to make you a mixed race. You are mix, but you will be considered as black. Whereas the average dominican is about 40% black, 50% european and at least 10% native american. That is my point.
@Amalfrida Your argument makes no sense We are not mixed enough? that premise makes no sense..This is clearly why you guys are ridiculed and people question your motives, mindset and intent. You just one-dropped African Americans but you guys balk when we one-drop DRs or any other race for that matter, therefore your true issue isnt who isnt establishing a case for your racial distinctiveness but to pigeonhole and stigmatize AAs by emphasizing your mixness. You want to "Out White us"
@BonusCivis No, why are you offended? As I said AA are still mixed, but will not be considered mixed by society if you are 70% black, because that is what society sees. You can't not mark mixed in the census if you are mostly black. For people to realize you are mix you at least need 50% black. I didn't make that, society did. Because if society cannot see a mixture in you. They will definitely label you as black, and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, its just how the world is. Be proud.
@Amalfrida On the other hand, I cannot mark as black, I am dominican. I cant because if you see me, I don't look black. I look more european with a tanned. But neither can I mark european because I am not white, neither indian. Really I don't understand why some people just want to be mixed, it is not even easy to be mixed because you do not fit in ANY group, you aren't wanted by everyone. Be proud of who you are and how people sees you, I am proud of my 3 origins and ppl seen me as arabic0.o
@Amalfrida ..I get it. I simply wanted to make a point and I have. You and I We are both brother and sister at the end of the day. I have no problem with you Amafrida and I am sure you are a very beautiful Dominicana.
@Amalfrida Amafrida, the Black Afrocentrics for ages have always said that Arabs are a race of Mulattoes. Its only now that the DNA can prove the Afrocentric theories on the racial origins of the Modern Day Arab. So I am sure you are genetically identical to an Arab. It does not surprise me. Mix people usually come out looking like that anyway. No Worries Amalfrida.
@BonusCivis Yes, I really don't identify myself as black because neither black see me like that. Black has alway seen me as arabic. Arabic have some africans but aren't seen as black, just as arabic. Just to let you know, my black comes from very far from my ancestors. That means that neither of my two grandmother are black either. I got no problem, I like you to call me sister, I am honored. But am I taino and european sister too? 70% european. That would make sense. As I mentioned, mixed are
@Amalfrida mixed, black are black, arabs are arabs, whites are whites. That is why they got names and categories, that is why people identify us as one of those. People think I am arabic, then that is fine, I would let them think that, if they go further on asking me, I just say I am latino. if they want to go further, I say I am triracial, and I love saying that because notice that the majority of latinos like me self identify as white and don't care about the other little bloodlines the have
@Amalfrida .. So are you assuming that i do not have European Ancestors because i have not mentioned them? That part doesnt matter anyway because today I am speaking as an AA.
@BonusCivis because of your european as well he would be 50% because if it was my european and you were fully black, then you know that I have black too and a baby would be less than 50% european.
@Amalfrida .. So you are OK with using one-drop when it keeps you firmly classified as mixed but AAs not as mixed. You DRs are incredibly reactionary. The Dutiful ones This I know already so why I am acting as this is a suprise. It would be impossible for you to fully see what I am saying. For the Record the World see DRs as Black but I doubt youd accept that. You may not look Black yourself but in general thats how some view DR as Blacks who say they are not.
@BonusCivis And that is the issue here, I do not think that mix races that are 50% black are black. If you, my friend are 50% black and AA, then you are mix. That is what it is, still if you were 60% black, people would classify you as mix. But the one drop rule does not apply anymore because it talks about ONE DROP OF BLACK, which means even 12% of black. On the other hand if you are mostly black and you have ONE DROP of white, that will not make you white. Neither one drop of black makes you
@Amalfrida black. I go according to what I see, I have seen many mixed american going trough the preassure of AA because AA tells them to call themselves black which I think it is kind of sad and annoying because they needed from a white parent to make them and if they were to embrace their black, why not the white. Do you know how would it feel for the white parent for his kid to deny himself?
@Amalfrida The problem with AA thinking is we need to redefine what it means and the behaviors associate with being AA thats what the mix kids reject but studies show that mixkids behaviors are worse than AA and White combined which probably would be a shock to mix kids They are quite arrogant on thinking their behavioral standard is higher. Being AA needs to keep the being cool part but it needs be made much more. When you ask a mix kid to be AA you have to consider how he may perceive that
@BonusCivis And I definitely agree with you on that one. That is why parents need to educate their children very well and tell them that both races are good and special. That there is not one better than other. Make them not think that white is better or worst. Once parents enforce that on them, they would start looking both sides well. But if we try to deny half of what they are (white) they can turn rebels. As if you notice, mix don't what to be called white or black, just be mixed who they r
@BonusCivis Also, notice that even though certain AA that are 50% 50% if they look black, society also classify them as black. I don't. Maybe if at the begining I see them and I think they are black, I might classify them as black, but once I see a white parent, they are mix to me.
@Amalfrida .. I am not offended and I do not have a problem with you. I was just amazed when you one-dropped and reverted back to the DNA evidence but I've heard countless criticism of AA usage of the one-drop in debates on who and what is Black. I am simply pointing out the subtle double standards in the thinking. No worries I am not offended.
@BonusCivis U've hit the nail on the head. Comment is spot on. This person simply wants to be Euro, plain & simple. Anything and I mean anything, but black will do. It's funny b/c s/he sounds exactly like most Dominicans I encounter. They'll come up w/a million reasons why they're not black - even the brownest ones. It's insane. And they really are unaware of how they're perceived by others. At least other blacks in the diaspora acknowledge their blackness. With Dominicans the denial runs deep.
@shespeaks165 What is wrong with you? I thought this was over with. Yes I think that way and most Dominicans do because that is the way it is. You do not understand my culture, so please don't speak. There is a significan amount of taino in the mix population. As I said why do people don't want to understand the fact that we are mix and that the average Dominican actually have MORE white than black. I am not creating that baby girl. Do some research, you are promoting racism and trying to...
@Amalfrida force the black race in everyone that have black roots. Get over the fact that we are mix, and that what you say is not even logical. I bet you are African American. Look at mebabygirl, I barely have black in me, if you can see that, why do you say that I want to be European? What is wrong with you and the fact that most of my family is European descent. Are you going to force Spaniards on saying they are black too? Stop being a selfhatred person and analyse please, you dont make sens
@Amalfrida Do some research, read some book, get with intelligent people, don't try to force your race on others. Be happy knowing that we are mix. Seems to me that you are hating for some reason, nobody else does, but only AA people. What is with you claiming us. Even if we were black, we will not identified with you my dear, our culture weren't the same. Oh also don't force the American laws from the pass in a Dominican, we had a different history, don't be opressed and get over the fact
@Amalfrida That mix people do not claim white, mix claim MIXED, YET YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND AND STILL WANT TO FORCE THEM TO CALL THEMSELVES BLACKS. That is why I feel sorry of biracial Americans. Oh and yes, there is significan amount of Tainos in multiracial people from DR, you are getting confused with PR. Our taino level of blood is less than others but still not one percent. That is the Average AA have one percent.
@Amalfrida said [[AND STILL WANT TO FORCE THEM TO CALL THEMSELVES BLACKS. That is why I feel sorry of biracial Americans.]]
They receive a lot of bullshit. And then there's people like Halle Berry who is half and half and had a baby girl with a flat-out white dude, and insists that her baby is "black". That's what I call having a complex.
@Amalfrida I already told u I was a blk American, sweetie. I don't attempt to "force" blackness on anyone, let alone those who r not. Spaniards in Spain are not blk, so that argument is illogical. We r talking about Dominicans in general & many of them have a significant, if not majority amt of African ancestry, they r who I'm discussing, no one else. U individually, perhaps u've a smaller % of blk blood, but I'm pointing out the reality of many black DRs who deny or downplay any African roots.
@shespeaks165 Ok the thing is this. Most AA think that the majority of Dominicans are black. How am I supposed to feel like that. I feel left out of my own country. And how some people tell me that I am not dominican because I am not black. That is the big missconception that people need to understand that most dominicans are like me. How would you feel if somebody say that all Americans are white. Definitely offended because is not true and you will be left out. People need to think logical
@Amalfrida and need to inform themselves because saying that the majority of Dominicans are black is very very wrong. I am a representation of what I call the average dominican. What you could easily find on the street which is not black, neither white, neither taino. Is just like another race.
@Amalfrida Moreover if a black dominican don't want to be called black, it is understandable, we were not thaought to see each other as a color, but rather as individuals, and as hispanics. That is why black dominicans feel offended to be called black. A white dominican will never say he is white, neither wants to be called white because is not the way we got teach. They will call themselve dominicans. A mixed dominican as well call themselves dominicans.
@Amalfrida Black is a way to call AA. We don't go by color, everybody should understand that. When someone calls a black dominican black, they feel that you are forcing your roots, your culture, the way you got raised on them. They feel you are calling them AA and that is the way they will be seen. They know they are black, but they say that they are dominicans because they are proud of being hispanics and AA are tying to take that away from the black dominicans, even the mixed ones, fair? not.
@Amalfrida Hola Amalfrida, you have have a very good point there. I never really thought about it like that. I can see where black Dominicans see "black" as another way to call "African-American" and will deny "black" because they feel they are not black American. This makes sense. I'm sure they know they are mixed origins which include black African ancestry, but it makes sense that they see "black" as black American. Good point. Maybe you should comment to the poster of this video with that.
@Amalfrida hey been seeing more of this....whats with people picking on Dominicans...i mean they make it seem like we don't know....what someone wakes up and says "hey sup with Dominican. I think they think they are not black"
@Amalfrida..Look at yourself and your argument, it makes it clear your intent and mindset. Others are mixed but AAs are not because by your standards AAs are not mixed enoughed. So therefore by your logic its OK for Nordic Americans to One-Drop African Americans and its OK when other mix-races One-Drop African Americans but when African Americans One-Drop other races and mix races then its not OK. People like your want to enslave the mind, body and intellectual independence of the AA.
@Amalfrida ..You have reduced this thing down to the most mixed of all Blacks around the World of trying to Out-White" Each other. Its very throwback and ridiculous. You are from a Plantation just like all other New World Blacks, thats where your racial values come from on this mixness philosophy. Plantations were an extension of the Colonial Corporate structure at that time. The colonial corporate structure existed for profit but it is your own self that chooses to how you think today.
@BonusCivis "you are, you are you are" please stop that. Look like you are offended by how the reality of this world is. It is obvious that if people see you as black you can't do anything about it, just be proud. If I had more black in me and I was seen as black, do you think I wouldnt be proud? yes I would, but why are so many black people opressed and wanting to be seen as other than black? that mind needs to be changed ans set up because you are beautiful. The black in me is beautiful
@Amalfrida because the black in me makes me who I am, gives me a beutiful hour glass body shape. The black in me gives me my beautiful culture, the black in me gives me the good food. Don't never deny yourselves guys, my purposed here is not to judge but I like to be honest and real and not offend anyone, you need to love yourself the way god made you.
@Amalfrida ..Clearly I struck a nerve. I am sure you clearly got my point which was my intent. Be you and do you but our foundations and origins were all the same. I think you get it now.
@BonusCivis Lets put an example, you and I get married and have kids, our baby would have a lot of european maybe 50%. I wouldnt like my kid to be called black, because what about me? about the mixtures? it is denying myself and my whole family and it hurt for a parent to feel that way. However if my baby look black and does not have a clearly a mixture reflected on his physical, I really can't do anything about it. Yet I would prefer him to aknowledge my side.
@Amalfrida .. But I would raised the Kid Black. He would be both side because that is what AAs do. We raise our kids with the Black mindset no matter how they look but the kids today are choosing this new non-blackness for themselves if they are mix.
@BonusCivis Yes but don't forget about the mother, I know that I wouldnt allow my kid to be raised as black only. I would show them the two sides. I would to that so that he would have an open mind. So that he aknowdledge the worlds that he came from.
@Amalfrida And if the mulatto kid decides to have kid with a white person then the kids would be quadroon. 25% black. and if the queadroon have kids with another european, then the baby doesn't have black anymore.
@Amalfrida that would mean the great grandchildren and there would be nothing else to do because it would be reality. We cant be against Europeans all the time because we don't know what can happen in the future, and if your great grandkids were white, you would have to love them from who they are.
@Amalfrida said [[if the mulatto kid decides to have kid with a white person then the kids would be quadroon...and if the queadroon have kids with another european, then the baby doesn't have black anymore.]]
Well, you would have 1/8, & could still have a black looking baby. But it's still mixed. Not that it matters (to me). Personally I LOVE people "of color" and I think most other people do too. Women want a man who's tall, dark and handsome, right? I'm thinking of making my next trip to DR.
@Amalfrida .. The mix ones made by AAs are not wanting to be Black nowadays. I joke about it. I say"they do not want to sign up for the abuse experienced by the AA".
The colonial corporate structure existed for profit but it is your own self that chooses how you think today.
@Amalfrida ..After this verbal exchange with you I am realizing that this thing for people with their beef with AAs is their jealousy of our living with and close relationship and integrated relationship with the Nordics Europeans of America. I view that integration into AngloAmerican Society as an asset so we will continue to embrace all sides of us;Our African Americanness our Black Americaness and our Africaness. Modernity is progress and I think AAs choose to continue to move forward in it.
@BonusCivis Ok then be proud of that, and continue to move on that is good. There is no need for jelaousy my dear, Europeans aren't gods for us to be jealous. You are making them seen like they are. More over, european make a huge part of my dna, because both of my grandparent are european. But, as I mentioned, keep on going and remember you are beutiful and don't let other tell you that you are not because that creates self hatred and self hatred is the worst of the worst.
@Amalfrida ..You see them as gods and I wish you would leave this plantation caste system values behind you. Please learn from AAs and stop this nonsense. No matter our skin tone we all call ourselves Black because it is a rejection of the plantation system. People see what you are doing. Its disgusting. Stay on the plantation if you desire but do not wonder in bewilderment when the entire world thinks that you are crazy for say you are not Black or not mestizo. What was it that you said.
@Amalfrida ..I think your words were" Genetically I am Arab". No genetically you are "Plantation" were they bred you. I guess you were one of the special slaves. I get it.
@Amalfrida ..You are the one with the self hate. You are the one thats trying to make yourself anything other than mestizo or black not me. cut the BS.
@Amalfrida the only problem i have is when you approach them and ask if theyre african or black they get so offended. If you called them a spaniard you think they would be so hesitant to correct you they would have the biggest smile on their face. Its not about considering your black fully but acknoledgeing you have black in you and to preserve that side just as much as your other. This " hispanic " thing is just nuts being called black is race being called hispanic just means you speak spanish
@zoltri11 Definitely agree with you, Here the problem is that African Americans want to label Dominicans as black, knowing that Dominicans is not a race. Most are multiracial. I always say I have black, yet I hate if somebody would call me black because I am not black, I have a small amount of it. That is what AA have to understand also the fact that once they call a Dom. person black they want to take them away from their Hispanic roots bc they claim them as one of them. I call that selfhate.
@Amalfrida said [[ That is what AA have to understand also the fact that once they call a Dom. person black they want to take them away from their Hispanic roots bc they claim them as one of them. I call that selfhate.]]
@Amalfrida even my friend told me who is nicauraguan their is a serious racial class within latin american countries and its very racsist ive heard dominican blacks and cubans and others say they were indians ? before saying they were black its self hate and colonialism at hand here whetr ou want to belive it or not.
@moonlitxstare what??? what?????? whatttt??? You must have read a reaally dumb book are you crazy? look, because of research, history, and antropology classes and twenty one years in school I know what I am talking about. Not only that but because of living myself in Puerto Rico and being puertorican myself I know what I am talking about. Are you black? I want to let you know that over 75% of PR population have spaniard ancestry, and 6% have African, you should learn some bc u sound uneducated.
@Amalfrida you are really sounding super uneducated, that is why is better to keep your mouth shut before saying something stupid. Moreover, you are trying to mess up my own history. Don't do that because you wouldnt like me to mess up yours.
THE OTHER THING I WAS TOLD IS THAT THEY HAVE A VERY COLONIAL SABO MENTALITY AS WE CALL IT IN AMERICA, AND THAT THEY HATE PROUD HAITIANS ON THE OTHER SDIE OF THE MOUNTAIN. I HAVE SOME REALLY GOOD HAITIAN FRIENDS THEY HAVE NEVER TOLD ME ANY OF THIS , WHICH SPEAKS VOLUMES IN MY OPINION POSITIVELY ABOUT THERE CHARACTER, I GUESS THEY COULD CARE LESS. I'VE ALSO BEEN TOLD BY FRIENDS OF MINE THAT THERE PLENTY OF DOMINICANS IN MIAMI, WHO WANT TO BE COLONIAL WHITE, AND ARE JUST VERY UNEDUCATED IN FACTS.
I DONT NO MUCH ABOUT DOMINICANS EXCEPT WHAT MY WIFE SHARES WITH ME FROM HERE JOB AND IT SEEMS TO BE CONSISTENT WITH SOME OF THE THINGS THAT THIS YOUNG LADY IS SAYING. I DONT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THEM PER SAY CLAIMING THEIR DOMINICAN/AFRICAN MIXED HERITAGE LIKE SOME AFRICAN AMERICAN DO AND OTHER BLACKS. IT'S THE TOTAL IGNORANCE THAT THEY SOME HOW HAVE NO AFRICAN BLOOD, LOL. SHE'S RIGHT BLACKS/AFRICANS HAVE TO GET THEIR HOUSE IN ORDER. WE DON'T HAVE TO LOVE EACH OTHER, BUT CAN THERE BE RESPECT
lolzz. at this video.. WTF.... I NEVER EVER EVER knew that identical twins could be of varying ethnicity..... I think all those chemicals in this bitches hair are seeping into her brain....
@Amalfrida you sound so fuckin dumb. so called hispanics were brought to the americas on the same slave ships as african americans. be proud to be african because we are the originators of all things. we started civilization. .who the fuck wants to be a thieving european. europeans stole everything that they have from africans. do your research.
@jondollars No, if I am hispanic I could be either african, spaniard, indian, anything pretty much because hispanic is not a race. It is an ethnicity. I am not african myself, I got African, I won't deny that, basically what make me attractive lolz. But I am not half way african, neither fully african. A big percentage of my DNA marks european. Another percentage marks native american, a small percentage african, So that doesn't make me african. Neither my features, anything really.
@jondollars uhum its ok. it is just that people need to learn more about our culture. Most hispanics are mestizos (white and indian) then the caribbean hispanics, like me, I am from Puert Rico are multiracial (spaniard, african and taino) mostly, sometimes more. Therefore we can't define ourselves as a particular race. And if we were to approach our African blood, we should approach our spaniard and indian two. I don't like anyone talking bad about any of those races because the 3 make me myself
@jondollars Not every Latin/Hispanic person is black. For example, the vast majority of most Mexicans and Chileans are not part black at all. Most black Hispanics are usually Dominicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Panamanians, and Colombians. Obviously, there are black people in every Spanish-speaking nation, but they're not as common as they are in the aforementioned countries.
if you are so proud of beeing black then y the fuck are you trying to make your self look light by puting a light bulb in your face lmao you need to except what you are you are as black as they come bitch you know deep down you woud do any thing to be white and it shows how you are trying to look white lmao u dumb bitch
This bitch is retarded she said ones Cuban ones Dominican. As she kept talkin now they both Dominican. Their twins retard how the fuck is one Cuban and the other Dominican. And they joke around on their videos. They say they are black in one of their videos. Dumbass ppl like u shouldn't make videos
The world is so intertwined these days that anyone hardly is a descendant of a single type of person. It's rather obvious to see that I am of Western European descent but my bloodline also flows through the Choctaw Native Americans. But would it be that just because I have such pale skin mean I can't make claim to my Native American heritage? Then again there has always tended to be bigotry to half breeds as well even more so.
i kinda get wut ur sayin but u gotta understand where we come from. the great majority of us latinos, represent and have more pride of our nationality and the blended beautiful mixed culture, then their color of skin.look im south american native, black and european so wtf im, brown?black?white?my color skin is a light caramel so i cant be black?white?brown?race classifaction is an american thing we dont have that in our countries and besides most of afrolatins are mixed with natives an whites
dominicans and puerto ricans> black americans and africans
MobiusX 2 days ago
If you want to get technical Dominicans they're not black. They're mulatto. The perception of what black is in America is pretty wrong. Technically Beyonce, Chris Brown, Jay-Z etc are mulatto.
- And any Dominican that says they're not black at all....is ignorant.
NyaS92 6 days ago
@NyaS92 Thank you. Oh, and I agree, the perception of what is black in the U.S. is warped. Many "black Americans" are mulattoes, not blacks. Also, the perception of "Hispanic/Latino" as a race in the U.S. is warped too. Hispanic or Latino is not a race, only culture/geographical identifier. I'm Hispanic, but only because it's my culture. My race is white. My ancestry is from Spain. But most of the "brown" Latinos in the U.S. are actually a Native American/white mixed race called mestizo.

Dude you're a freaking idiot. They said they were black in those videos what in the world are you referring to in this video?
BrightOrangeSharpie 1 week ago 3
The purpose of some dominicans that are clearly mixed is not to be called white, but to be recognized as what they really are, a mixture or races. People come on if you have African embrace it, but don't listen to others telling you to call your self black only. Embrace your European and Indigenous blood too. It is what makes you who you are.

Take your inferiority complex on some else.
cilomanfreebsd 3 weeks ago 3
@cilomanfreebsd Agreed but most African Americans are mixed as well from the Native Americans and White Slave masters our raped their ancestors.I think its a matter of perception and what you see yourself as which I see myself as black. And no matter how mixed I my be the government sees me as black as well. This video is for people who think Dominican is their actual race oppose to their nationally! Being as dark as Wesley Snipes but denying you have African roots.Ludicrous!!
blaqueeye 3 weeks ago 2
@blaqueeye Well it all depends on your level of mixture. If you are seen as black, probably is because your level of blackness is higher compared to the other mixtures. In dominican case, their level or european is the same as black or even higher. That is why they are seen as mixed. Us caribean people not only had a mixture back in our ancestors getting raped, but also our mixture come from very close families. Me for example, my two grandparents are European. My two grandmothers, tri racial.
Amalfrida 2 weeks ago
@Amalfrida Therefore I could not call myself black because my percentage of blackness is not as high.
Amalfrida 2 weeks ago
@blaqueeye so true!!!! dominican is not a race. just like american is not a race. this video is for afro or black dominicans who like to think that they are different from all other black people. the only difference is culture and language. take that out and we are the same.
MsLoyal12 1 week ago

IslenoGutierrez 1 month ago

LucisFerre1 1 month ago
@LucisFerre1 Fried chicken, watermelon and kool-aid is just part of southern cuisine. Whites and blacks in the south eat the same things. It's just when the blacks left the south and went to other parts of the country, they took southern food with them and people seen this southern food as "soul food" because only blacks in northern, eastern and western parts of the country ate this. But in the south, it's made by whites too. Blacks just made southern food popular outside the south.
IslenoGutierrez 1 month ago
@IslenoGutierrez Wow thank god, you are rational. The funny thing about all of this is that some AA get offended and have the nerves to tell us that we are self hatred. But, does that apply to us? if we are mixed and we don't want to be called black, does that apply to us? AA people definitely know that Dominicans and caribbeans are mixed. But those who get offended are the ones that are self hatred. They try to force an old law that they had about 1 drop rule that no longer exist. Yet some also
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida have the nerve to force that law on us, but describe themselves as a mutt. Does this make sense? It is some black people who do not want to be black, therefore they want to claim everybody else even if their black DNA is 12%. Not saying that there is not black caribeans, but the vast majority are definitely mixed and a lot of times pass as another race or ethnic group, just as arabic, lebanese, or even indians.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida I agree. The American blacks had to abide by the one drop rule, which is extinct today, but it's theory still persists today in the way black Americans view themselves and they way other Americans view black Americans. Much of the AA population are mixed race, but because the one drop rule, they think being black means being at least some black. That rule did not exist in D.R., so the truth was able to shine through in D.R., which shows mixed race as mixed race, not black.
IslenoGutierrez 1 month ago
@IslenoGutierrez Agree. And that is something that I was arguing not long ago how unfortunately bi-racial americans have to put up with some people forcing them to say that they are black. When you don't ever hear whites forcing them to be white. The truth is that biracials are bi-racials, mix is mix wheather people like it or not. And yes, we never had the drop rule. And a lot of the times those AA that force others to say they are black, claim themselves as mutts. still when they are 80% black
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida This is just a clear example of a person who is oppressed of his race and want to make others like him, so that he does not feel alone. It is crazy because the mixed people usually love their black side because that makes them different. What they don't like is to be called someones they are not.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida The average black African descent for Black Americans is 70-75%. Also, by black Americans trying to force the black identity on Dominicans, they are doing the very same thing the one drop rule did to them, forcing them to be blacks. Someone who is partly black is not a black person, but a mulatto, zambo or pardo. Mixed race is mixed race. It's the opposite with Whites, many are part Native American, but are seen as whites, not mestizos.
IslenoGutierrez 1 month ago
@IslenoGutierrez Well said but unfortunately most people are ignorant to this fact.
NyaS92 6 days ago
@IslenoGutierrez said [[I agree. The American blacks had to abide by the one drop rule, which is extinct today...]]
I almost spewed my drink when I heard Halle Berry invoke the 'one drop rule' to justify calling her 1/4 black daughter "black", which is basically spitting on her white baby-daddy ex-boyfriend and her own white mother. A "proud black woman" using a segregationist racist rule, designed to keep the white race "pure" is like a proud black woman joining the KKK. It's a STRANGE world.
LucisFerre1 1 month ago
@LucisFerre1 I agree. Mariah Carey, whom said she was black because in the U.S. the one drop rule states she is black. Well, that stupid broad didn't mention that the one drop rule does not exist anymore, so that thinking should be dead with it. Her mother is White, her dad is black American (whom are mixed with White) and her dad had a Venezuelan grandparent (likely Amerindian/white mixed) which makes her probably less 35-40% black ancestry, which means she's mostly not black.
IslenoGutierrez 1 month ago
@IslenoGutierrez At least 34% of Venezuelans are Black. Chavez openly acknowledges his African and Indigenous roots.
pflegel2010 1 week ago
@pflegel2010 That statistic about Venezuela is wrong. Venezuela is 68% mestizo, 21% white, 10% black and 1% Native American. Chavez is an Afro-mestizo, he is a mestizo that has some degree of African admixture. Some mestizos are like that, but most of the mestizos in Venezuela are Native American/European in mixture.

Amalfrida 1 month ago 11
@Amalfrida
Get real.
ajtemp2000 1 month ago
@ajtemp2000 I think you are confused, read my paragraph again, and stop hating because if you are black, doesnt mean everybody is black, ppl are what they are and if I was to have a black father and white mother, I think they white side deserve some credit as well, Ill be mulatto, mix, therefore get clear.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Re: Dominicans, if that's the case then you could literally say the exact same thing for African Americans. It's semantics. Makes no sense, why deny who you are, especially if it's clearly the majority. I don't think (black) Dominicans realize the reputation they have for lookin straight up crazy when they try to deny their blackness. You look just as black as a black American, yet you're "not black"? Really? It's called being delusional...the results of deeply instilled self-hatred.
shespeaks165 1 month ago
@shespeaks165 Just to let you know, the dominican population is classified as 75% multiracial, 16% white and 11% black. It is crazy the huge mixconception ppl have about dominicans. The media reflect that dominicans are black, but If you were to go to dominican republic, you would be surprised. I am dominican, I dont even look1/4 black. Millions of dominicans look multiracial. Yet we still have black. The real Dominican level of blackness is usually about 40%. But dont get blinded by what you
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida see on tv, because they don't represent the reality. Neither get blinded by the poor folk who come here from DR trying to get a better life. I am not saying there is not black dominicans, I am just saying that the most commonly you will find is multiracial, and yet the black ones have a little level of other races just like African Americans. Also, don't get confused, and remember there is haiti next to DR and a lot of haitians speak spanish and classify themselves as Dominicans.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida The average dominican can pass as arabic or indian, not as black. What the media shows you can definitely pass as black. Whereas I am dominican, I pass as Arabic because my level of blackness is less than 25% according to my DNA tests.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida As well as haitians are moving to DR and having children who speak spanish and they are already dominicans. But not the real representation of a dominican. The average dominican girl has caramel skin with straight long black hair and voluptuous body. I love the black in me, it is what makes me who I am, but I can't accept people who arent knowledgeable of our culture to come up and deny our other bloodlines which are Taino and European
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida "the poor folk who come here"...spoke volumes about ur perspective. U protest FAR too much. Reality is u hate anything black, u've been taught to, and it's clear u associate blackness/African roots with lowliness & being beneath u, even when it's a part of u. It's really sad how deep the self-hatred goes. But then again, it's like I said, u sound like the avg black Dominican who wants to claim anything & everything but Africa. If u could extract it from ur bloodline, I'm sure u would.
shespeaks165 1 month ago
@shespeaks165 You are very stupid person for not realizing that I do claim I have black, WHAT THE FU%^ DO YOU WANT ME TO SAY IF I'M NOT BLACK? if I am about 25% black I cant claim black. And no you have to be clear in this. The black dominicans are mostly poor weather you like it or not. It is not like AA who have a high standar like Caucassians. DR doesn't work like that and if you went to DR you should know it better, looklike you are just pretending you went. By the way you talk is like u
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Never did.

It's an avg-some r more, some less, and that's obvious just by looking.
shespeaks165 1 month ago
@shespeaks165 yes you didnt even have to tell me you were a black american. Only AA get offended over a dominican saying that they are mixed. If you went to DR like you say, you should have seen a huge amount of multiracial, if you didn't maybe you got confused and went to Haiti. I never denied Dom. have african blood, but that doesn't make them black. Get over yourself, A skin color doesn't mean anything either. Is about facial features. There is black dominican too, but most are multiracial

@Amalfrida ....The point is is that all New World Blacks are Mixed. That's the point. I think that you are missing that.
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis Yes, all new world black are mixed but what you can't understand is what level or blackness are you considered to be mixed. The average African American is at least 75% black, 20% european, and 5% native american. That is not enough to make you a mixed race. You are mix, but you will be considered as black. Whereas the average dominican is about 40% black, 50% european and at least 10% native american. That is my point.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Your argument makes no sense We are not mixed enough? that premise makes no sense..This is clearly why you guys are ridiculed and people question your motives, mindset and intent. You just one-dropped African Americans but you guys balk when we one-drop DRs or any other race for that matter, therefore your true issue isnt who isnt establishing a case for your racial distinctiveness but to pigeonhole and stigmatize AAs by emphasizing your mixness. You want to "Out White us"
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis No, why are you offended? As I said AA are still mixed, but will not be considered mixed by society if you are 70% black, because that is what society sees. You can't not mark mixed in the census if you are mostly black. For people to realize you are mix you at least need 50% black. I didn't make that, society did. Because if society cannot see a mixture in you. They will definitely label you as black, and nothing else. Don't get me wrong, its just how the world is. Be proud.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida On the other hand, I cannot mark as black, I am dominican. I cant because if you see me, I don't look black. I look more european with a tanned. But neither can I mark european because I am not white, neither indian. Really I don't understand why some people just want to be mixed, it is not even easy to be mixed because you do not fit in ANY group, you aren't wanted by everyone. Be proud of who you are and how people sees you, I am proud of my 3 origins and ppl seen me as arabic0.o

BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis Yes, I really don't identify myself as black because neither black see me like that. Black has alway seen me as arabic. Arabic have some africans but aren't seen as black, just as arabic. Just to let you know, my black comes from very far from my ancestors. That means that neither of my two grandmother are black either. I got no problem, I like you to call me sister, I am honored. But am I taino and european sister too? 70% european. That would make sense. As I mentioned, mixed are
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida mixed, black are black, arabs are arabs, whites are whites. That is why they got names and categories, that is why people identify us as one of those. People think I am arabic, then that is fine, I would let them think that, if they go further on asking me, I just say I am latino. if they want to go further, I say I am triracial, and I love saying that because notice that the majority of latinos like me self identify as white and don't care about the other little bloodlines the have
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Thanks for telling me I most be beautiful, I believe I am.

@Amalfrida .. So are you assuming that i do not have European Ancestors because i have not mentioned them? That part doesnt matter anyway because today I am speaking as an AA.
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis because of your european as well he would be 50% because if it was my european and you were fully black, then you know that I have black too and a baby would be less than 50% european.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida .. So you are OK with using one-drop when it keeps you firmly classified as mixed but AAs not as mixed. You DRs are incredibly reactionary. The Dutiful ones This I know already so why I am acting as this is a suprise. It would be impossible for you to fully see what I am saying. For the Record the World see DRs as Black but I doubt youd accept that. You may not look Black yourself but in general thats how some view DR as Blacks who say they are not.
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis And that is the issue here, I do not think that mix races that are 50% black are black. If you, my friend are 50% black and AA, then you are mix. That is what it is, still if you were 60% black, people would classify you as mix. But the one drop rule does not apply anymore because it talks about ONE DROP OF BLACK, which means even 12% of black. On the other hand if you are mostly black and you have ONE DROP of white, that will not make you white. Neither one drop of black makes you
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida black. I go according to what I see, I have seen many mixed american going trough the preassure of AA because AA tells them to call themselves black which I think it is kind of sad and annoying because they needed from a white parent to make them and if they were to embrace their black, why not the white. Do you know how would it feel for the white parent for his kid to deny himself?
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida .I enjoyed talking to you. No worries.
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@Amalfrida The problem with AA thinking is we need to redefine what it means and the behaviors associate with being AA thats what the mix kids reject but studies show that mixkids behaviors are worse than AA and White combined which probably would be a shock to mix kids They are quite arrogant on thinking their behavioral standard is higher. Being AA needs to keep the being cool part but it needs be made much more. When you ask a mix kid to be AA you have to consider how he may perceive that
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis And I definitely agree with you on that one. That is why parents need to educate their children very well and tell them that both races are good and special. That there is not one better than other. Make them not think that white is better or worst. Once parents enforce that on them, they would start looking both sides well. But if we try to deny half of what they are (white) they can turn rebels. As if you notice, mix don't what to be called white or black, just be mixed who they r
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida .. Well, I have you thinking which is my intent. We can create our own realities.
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis Also, notice that even though certain AA that are 50% 50% if they look black, society also classify them as black. I don't. Maybe if at the begining I see them and I think they are black, I might classify them as black, but once I see a white parent, they are mix to me.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida ..
BonusCivis 1 month ago
@BonusCivis U've hit the nail on the head. Comment is spot on. This person simply wants to be Euro, plain & simple. Anything and I mean anything, but black will do. It's funny b/c s/he sounds exactly like most Dominicans I encounter. They'll come up w/a million reasons why they're not black - even the brownest ones. It's insane. And they really are unaware of how they're perceived by others. At least other blacks in the diaspora acknowledge their blackness. With Dominicans the denial runs deep.

LucisFerre1 1 month ago
@Amalfrida I already told u I was a blk American, sweetie. I don't attempt to "force" blackness on anyone, let alone those who r not. Spaniards in Spain are not blk, so that argument is illogical. We r talking about Dominicans in general & many of them have a significant, if not majority amt of African ancestry, they r who I'm discussing, no one else. U individually, perhaps u've a smaller % of blk blood, but I'm pointing out the reality of many black DRs who deny or downplay any African roots.
shespeaks165 1 month ago
@shespeaks165 Ok the thing is this. Most AA think that the majority of Dominicans are black. How am I supposed to feel like that. I feel left out of my own country. And how some people tell me that I am not dominican because I am not black. That is the big missconception that people need to understand that most dominicans are like me. How would you feel if somebody say that all Americans are white. Definitely offended because is not true and you will be left out. People need to think logical
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida and need to inform themselves because saying that the majority of Dominicans are black is very very wrong. I am a representation of what I call the average dominican. What you could easily find on the street which is not black, neither white, neither taino. Is just like another race.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Moreover if a black dominican don't want to be called black, it is understandable, we were not thaought to see each other as a color, but rather as individuals, and as hispanics. That is why black dominicans feel offended to be called black. A white dominican will never say he is white, neither wants to be called white because is not the way we got teach. They will call themselve dominicans. A mixed dominican as well call themselves dominicans.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Black is a way to call AA. We don't go by color, everybody should understand that. When someone calls a black dominican black, they feel that you are forcing your roots, your culture, the way you got raised on them. They feel you are calling them AA and that is the way they will be seen. They know they are black, but they say that they are dominicans because they are proud of being hispanics and AA are tying to take that away from the black dominicans, even the mixed ones, fair? not.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida Hola Amalfrida, you have have a very good point there. I never really thought about it like that. I can see where black Dominicans see "black" as another way to call "African-American" and will deny "black" because they feel they are not black American. This makes sense. I'm sure they know they are mixed origins which include black African ancestry, but it makes sense that they see "black" as black American. Good point. Maybe you should comment to the poster of this video with that.

However if my baby look black and does not have a clearly a mixture reflected on his physical, I really can't do anything about it. Yet I would prefer him to aknowledge my side.

@BonusCivis Yes but don't forget about the mother, I know that I wouldnt allow my kid to be raised as black only. I would show them the two sides. I would to that so that he would have an open mind. So that he aknowdledge the worlds that he came from.

WE DON'T HAVE TO LOVE EACH OTHER, BUT CAN THERE BE RESPECT

hispanic with black ancestry are not the same as african american black. Our level of black ancestry is way lower than yours.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida you sound so fuckin dumb. so called hispanics were brought to the americas on the same slave ships as african americans. be proud to be african because we are the originators of all things. we started civilization. .who the fuck wants to be a thieving european. europeans stole everything that they have from africans. do your research.
jondollars 1 month ago
@jondollars I would be proud of being african if i was african dump. Since I am not african I cant be proud, dont you think?
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida but if you are latin or hispanic you are african.
jondollars 1 month ago
@jondollars No, if I am hispanic I could be either african, spaniard, indian, anything pretty much because hispanic is not a race. It is an ethnicity. I am not african myself, I got African, I won't deny that, basically what make me attractive lolz. But I am not half way african, neither fully african. A big percentage of my DNA marks european. Another percentage marks native american, a small percentage african, So that doesn't make me african. Neither my features, anything really.
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@Amalfrida i understand what your saying pretty lady. my bad for coming off a little rude.
jondollars 1 month ago
@jondollars uhum its ok. it is just that people need to learn more about our culture. Most hispanics are mestizos (white and indian) then the caribbean hispanics, like me, I am from Puert Rico are multiracial (spaniard, african and taino) mostly, sometimes more. Therefore we can't define ourselves as a particular race. And if we were to approach our African blood, we should approach our spaniard and indian two. I don't like anyone talking bad about any of those races because the 3 make me myself
Amalfrida 1 month ago
@jondollars Not every Latin/Hispanic person is black. For example, the vast majority of most Mexicans and Chileans are not part black at all. Most black Hispanics are usually Dominicans, Cubans, Puerto Ricans, Panamanians, and Colombians. Obviously, there are black people in every Spanish-speaking nation, but they're not as common as they are in the aforementioned countries.

Then again there has always tended to be bigotry to half breeds as well even more so.
sik3xploit 1 month ago
i kinda get wut ur sayin but u gotta understand where we come from. the great majority of us latinos, represent and have more pride of our nationality and the blended beautiful mixed culture, then their color of skin.look im south american native, black and european so wtf im, brown?black?white?my color skin is a light caramel so i cant be black?white?brown?race classifaction is an american thing we dont have that in our countries and besides most of afrolatins are mixed with natives an whites
TheEverlast1617 1 month ago
@TheEverlast1617
you are black
When a white man sees people of color he doesnt say, hey he looks this mixed with that. Being Hispanic is a culture not a color.
We are Latino but Latinos are black.
