people don't realize how hard this is.. i did alright at 195lbs 6'3 i did 1:37, being tall helps with this, because shorter people that normally beat me in WODs couldn't keep beat my time being around 8-12 seconds slower
At the yorktown erg relays in virginia, me and a buddy, Eric, placed 3rd in the 4x500. Both of us are novices, but he's a sophmore and i'm a frosh. He had splits around 1:38 for both of them, i had around 1:37 on the first and 1:39 on the second. He's about an inch taller than me, so thats 5'11, and he weighs about 10 pounds less than me. I weight 165. On a sidenote, Nathan and eric were with me in the 8x250, we got second against full groups of 8 people. Nathan is frosh but least 3 inchestaller
He is rowing really well for 500m. There is no way he could maintain that split without holding his 45+ strokerate, and the fact that he is still getting >1/2 slide compression is impressive. With the amount of force he is exerting on the erg, there's no way he wouldn't move it without it being held down. Keep in mind that with no friction the erg moves around your body while you stay in the same place relative to the floor.
@bectes1995 for 15 years old thats a good time. Nice job. I haven't done one in 2 years so i don't know mine for sure. I did a 1 minute challenge and averaged 1:21 or so. I'm 175cm and 85kg and 18 years old.
does anybody know the lightweight world record. i was just wondering cause i pulled a 1:28.9 and im a freshman lightweight in college. im just trying to see where i stand on short sprints compared to elite rowers
@hetvriendelijkespook ya i would say you don't know what you're talking about. Ergs are all about power, if you make the erg move across the ground your using a lot of power.
This is true, except that you should remain neutral which means the boat wont lose run. You must have seen clips of ergs on runners so that rowers can practice evening out their power?
An erg should not move if you are as good as you could be.
@novicerower2010 can you keep it from moving? it really just depends on what kind of surface its on and how ballistic you go. Pulling a 1:14, you're going to move the erg regardless. Now if you're doing a normal 2k pulling 1:40's then your erg shouldn't move unless you sprint like a freak at the end lol
im 21 and i can do it in about 1:20 maybe less that was my first attempt never rowed before just messing with mates so thought id see the record is it worth giving it some practice or is this impossible to beat????????
I think I can only do 1.32, im 32, 98kg, 1.93. Pretty crap, but I m not giving up. I can windsurf for 3 hours in one day, so I guess I can be a good rower too
Hey i did a 1:23.1 the other day. im 32 and have not trained since i was 15 years old for rowing. I was sick for 1 hour after tho. But very happy with myself if i do say so..
Yeah, with such a short stroke he would be a poor rower in a boat. All that power going down with the arms - I'd like to see him do 7000m with feathering at 38spm and not catch a crab after 5000m.
The flip side is that my 500m split is 1.38, so I bow to his erging power!
I pulled a 40.1 250m the other day. Lowest split I've ever pulled was a 1:13 which seemed impossible to maintain for any decent amount of time but I'm using more of a water based rowing technique where erging uses less range of motion and more arms. Oh well :-\
haha, wow! I'm a novice woman! My 500 meter is a 2:03...I think i'll be able to beat this guys soon!! :P haha, not....this is so cool though, def inspirational
My dick can do it 2X quicker than this guy

@isorry4strokin well i know the lightweight 2k record averaged 1:29.6 so i'd imagine for 500meters the records would be just under 1:20
ChadAndrewsLovesGod 11 months ago
@ChadAndrewsLovesGod yea i figured it would be around there, i just can seem to find an official record anywhere.

unbelievable, the best ever pace I stroke was 1.26...2 years into indoor rowing now, 33YOmale,104kg. I still have long way to go, lol
glaros0 1 year ago
he may be fast but he cant row! if two people have to hold your machine, you suck very much!
hetvriendelijkespook 1 year ago
@hetvriendelijkespook well, i guess you're not quite right. It depends on the weight of a person.
and secondly, normal rowing has a thing, called "technique"
As the opposite, c2 requires less technique, so you can simply use your muscles and stamina, ignoring the technique, especially on 500m!
