@lexxipaul Best to leave breast with the bone on (the bone is easily removed at time of serving if desired). No bone/ skin breasts, the chicken may over cook. Perhaps less time. It certainly can be done though. cheers! KtC
@cyphi1 Yo! This one is about 4+. I have a larger one now that I use. Your 4qrt. should be big enough as this one in the vid. could handle a good size chicken. I do like the larger ones as you have a bit more room to stir.
Your probaly good for the smaller size chickens.
Tasty recipe. We have had it a few times. Mix it up with variable cheese! KtC
@HALLSYSKITCHEN Hi Hallsy! I have a few recipes posted either crock pot/ slowcooker. So many recipes work with the device and of course a few really do not. We do enjoy this one! Have great day. KtC
Hi! It was a half chicken cut up (it had the skin and bone still in). You can remove the skin if you like (a bit less fatty that way). Chicken can break down when cooked liked this so the bone-in is best (it falls off the bone when served up). Just the can of tomatoes (28oz. size approx.). The celery and veggies release water as they are cooking. I would double everything if using a whole chicken. I have prepared this a few times. We really enjoyed it. Have a great day! KtC
Not smaller than a 20oz. This was most likely a 28oz. (typical around here). Yes, nice easy dish for the crock-pot (or any large pot, cooked slow). cheers! KtC
a chopped celery stick, large carrot and medium onion should be fine. Perhaps two/ three carrots if your hungry. Try a clove or two of garlic depending what you like (more won't hurt it). As for cheese go with a 1/4 cup at first. Let me know how it works for you, cheers! KtC
Thank you paper_ The recipe is a 'pseudo' cacciatore but really good considering the little effort invovled. I have prepared it a few times and thought it should be posted. enjoy the brewskies! KtC
They have been quite common in N.A. for some time and are becoming popular again. Ideal for slow cooking a meal. Fill it up in the morning and when you return at dinner 'food is ready'. Also ideal for keeping foods warm at dinner parties. Very inexpensive to. Many recipes available on the net and in book stores. Also know as a 'slow cooker'. cheers! KtC
Hey there can I use just straight chicken breasts or do you think it might be too dry?

How many quarts is your Crock Pot? I wanna do a whole chicken, but I'm not sure if it'll fit. I'm pretty sure I have a 4 quart Crock Pot.

do the vegtables have to be frozen?
maut1976 2 years ago
I used only fresh veggies. You can toss in some frozen but leave it till the last hour. cheers! KtC

Nice recipe. Can you clarify - is the chicken boneless and with skin left on? Also, do you add any liquid other than the tomato juice? Thanks

Looks Great! Heck i think I will make this this sunday, think i will use boneless chicken and just cut it up.
koolbossjock 3 years ago
Place the boneless chicken on top (so it won't stew too much) and cut/ stir about an hour before serving. enjoy, KtC
