and NO!! e-guitars are NOT the same as acoustic...the only thing they have in common are the 6 strings, and not even that^^ there are guitars with 7 or 12 strings, too :P

and also there are songs you can only play on electric guitars (solos, fast stuff(metal, Punk and so on..)

BUT!!: songs that can be played on acoustic guitar can also be played on e-guitar...so start with e-guitar if you want to become good (or learn classic.. :P)

@am3zsniicol3 yeah, electric guitar is played the same way acoustic guitars are. Like the chords are the same. There are a few differences between the two. 1: Acoustic guitar strings r harder than electric guitar strings, meaning it will be easier to play electric. 2: you need an amp for an electric (obviously haha) and if you want you can buy effect pedals to make the electric guitar sound different. Hope this helps!

@damastadj94 it depends on how much money your willing to spend. If your just starting to buy a guitar, buy a cheap one but not too cheap. I have an ibanez guitar. It's not too bad, and it cost 350 bucks. Another good brand is Epiphone. My friend got one for around 200. Hope this helps! :)

Hey, i have a question. because i am getting confused, when you are explaining the chords, is the first string high e and the 6th string low e, or is it the other way around?

@alisharoseharvey if you are using a right handed guitar, the low e string (which is the biggest string and has the deepest sound) is the guitar string that is closest to you. The high e is the opposite, and is the closest to the ground. In the video. In this video, the high e is the 6th. Hope this helps!

it doesn't make sure which way you strum it. People normally start out by strumming down though.

Your guitar might not sound like mine because...

3. Maybe your fingers aren't placed correctly.

The 1st is the low E (Biggest string) and the high e is the six string (smallest string)

Strumming patterns change depending on what song your playing. You can just strum down until your comfortable with strumming both ways.

Your finger nails shouldn't been long on your left hand (if your a righty) because your gonna be using ur left hand for forming chords and all. u can keep ur nails long on ur right hang if u want

It's ok! It did that for me too! Just practice every day, and you will start to notice that the chords you are playing will start to sound more clear. I'm teaching my sister right now and she's has the same issue you have. Don't worry, it's normal for all beginners :)

my biggest problem is the strength in my pinky and ring finger when playing on the 4-6th strings...

When your playing guitar, you mostly use your index finger, middle finger, and ring finger to play a note. Sometimes you use your pinkie, but its important to try to build up the strength of your first three fingers. I will explain more in a later video :)

im good with my first 3 for the most part but most of the time my pinkie will 'collapse' so I don't press with the tip of it. I do some exercises throughout the day, pressing on my phone, seems to help so far.

Doing stretches on your guitar called "Spider stetches" might help too. If you want to make your fingers stronger, I suggest you get a handmaster plus exerciser. You can buy one at a lot of musician stores, or you can always buy it on the musiciansfriend's website

Try to press your fingers down harder while playing a note, plus you might want to try strumming by playing with a pic. it might help :)
