  • god save the queen

  • The Queen Mother was reffered to as Queen Elizabeth and therefore would not sing the anthem as she was the also the Queen in name!

  • Philip: Why the bloody hell are they singing to her they should be singing to me ive done alot more than wave and make speeches ive guided through her life

  • She has been called dowdy by some. I don't know why. I think she looked very elegant in this light blue combination. Her face in this video reminded me of George VI for the first time. She has been an excellent and model monarch. The only error for me was the choice of number as Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. There was no Elizabeth I of the UK nor of Scotland, only of England, which is probably why they stole the Stone of Scone. Most unfortunate. But time has past and Long may she reign!

  • I love UK

    Except for the food

  • @Huckel2x Ah yes the food, Still I found this little shop that served the most wonderful pork pies, the pastry perfect. I cannot for the life of me remember where it is though, during a pub crawl. However the fish and chips with a side of mushy peas is still the one meal I enjoyed while walking in London. Beef way over done, The people were wonderful and very friendly and welcoming. It was like I was a long lost cousin from Canada, I could not buy my own pints. Several thumbs up to the Brits.

  • I was wondering, does the Queen mother sing GSTQ? Or rather, does she have to?

  • @skittlehappymatt

No, because she's the queen's mother

  • @skittlehappymatt She did, yes.

  • I wonder just how many were miming throughout the 2nd verse, lol. Most of us know the opening verse but without the printed text wouldn't have a clue about subsequent verses.

  • The Queen Mother doesn't sing, because she too is 'Her Majesty' and of equal rank to Elizabeth II.

  • @fmervick No..I am afraid..u r not correct..the Queen mother has to sing..Except the absolute monarchs..everyone including their consorts have to sing..Somehow this lady managed to cover up with her smiles and freckles...But the Queen in the song will no way mean a Queen consort...Remember when she was the Queen there was nothing called God Save the Queen....there was God Save the King. She even curtsied her during coronation

  • its princess anne, not the countess of wessex

  • HM seems particularly happy to be there :p

  • I don't why the Queen Mother didn't sing.

  • I just got chills running up my spine. God Save the Queen!

  • very impressive.

  • though this maybe the best version..I never feel good watching this...this event lateron went to bring so much disgrace and embarassment for the Queen and entire monarchy...

  • The Countess Of Wessex, looking radiant as always <3

  • @jessedaniel01 Hey where on earth is the Countess of Wessex...who are you talking about

  • @coolview66 Siting directly behind the queen in white, The Queens Daughter In Law

  • Comment removed

  • @jessedaniel01 Oh God..That is Princess Anne..The Countess of Wessex became so 18 years after this event happend...

  • breathtaking!!!

Long Live the Queen of Australia

Sadly, Australia replaced God Save the Queen with a dreadful song called Advance Australia Fair, i cannot help but cringe when it is sung

  • @TheAnglopride agree! ...

  • Long live the Queen! May the Queen live forever!

  • God bless the queen and may there always be a Royal Navy!

  • long may she reign...!

  • I wish Sweden could have a queen lik you brits have... :) God save the queen and long may she reign..

  • @aikidoka3kyu Yes. We are rather proud of her.

  • shes like 'yes worship me commoners' HAHAHA

  • Why does, Her Majesty look so mad and unhappy?

  • @VelvetViolet4 The Queen admits she has a grumpy face, unlike her mother (you can sort of see the Queen Mum with a slight smile).

  • @VelvetViolet4 - Because she knows that her country is just America`s poodle.

  • @VelvetViolet4 It's called British stoicism. The British - those properly bred - are not fond of showing emotion in public. Emotion is expressed privately (at home), as a form of politeness, so that others are not made to feel uncomfortable. There's much to be said for this. A person weeping and wailing; or grinning maniacally in public does tend to make people feel uneasy.

Also, the Queen is a representative of the State. Her job is to be dignified and calm. She is simply being reserved.

  • Elizabeth: "Damn it, again?!?"

  • The Wedding that never lasted?

  • that was in the wedding of Princess Diana and Prince Charles. :)

  • How do people refer to her, as "Her Majesty?" Just curious.

  • @7855waldo it's "Ma'am" when referring to her in the person.

  • @amazingrapist - Thank you, and Merry Christmas!

  • @HRHthePrinceofFails - You never know. Never.

  • 00:10 "fucking hell ..."

  • GOD SHAVE THE QUEEN!~!!.eerrrmm..or was it save?whatever..

  • The queen looks as if she wants to say "Not that bloody song again"

  • This gave me chills and made me want to cry!! :*D

  • @DAVE870129 Prince Andrew i think

no she divorced Mike Philips in 1997 and has never been married since

  • @DAVE870129 Prince Andrew i think

  • Long live our most beloved Queen!

  • For me, it's nice to see one world leader (albeit ceremonially and nominally only) who is without scandal herself and carries herself in a way a head of state should. Hate to say this, but I doubt this will be the case if/when Charles becomes King. People love Elizabeth even if they hate the monarchy. Despite the thoughtless actions of our moronic President, the U.K. is our strongest ally and believe me, Americans know it and have a sense of kinship with you! God Save the Queen and the U.K.!

  • I'm an American who just graduated with a political science degree and am fascinated by the British monarchy. As it is well known, Americans love the Queen and the constitutional monarchy that exists there is of great interest to us. It's like seeing our own history from nearly 250 years ago. I can't say if the monarchy should or shouldn't be but I will say having Elizabeth II, who knows more about the political processes of the world than nearly anyone, has only aided PM's and your nation.

  • Who is the shy expression male teenager just back queen mum? And did princess Anne have another husband? this is not the guy who was with her at William and Catherine wedding last spring!!!

  • @DAVE870129 The lad behind the Queen Mother is David, son of Princess Margaret and her former husband Anthony Armstrong Jones. His Mother, Princess Margaret is beside him. The gentleman beside Princess Anne is her first husband Capt. Mark Phillips. They divorced in 1992. Princess Anne then married Timothy Laurence.

  • Love the boringness of Elizabeth

  • someoneold,

The Queen does not sing, as she as monarch is who the anthem is written about. The Queen Mother did sing, as she was the the consort of the monarch, not the monarch herself.

  • Question from the American colonies.... I understand the Queen not singing (to herself) but did the Queen Mum sing????? How did that work?????

  • I watched this live from America!

  • Comment removed

  • the Queen is still on the throne because of this great singing keep on smiling your majesty

  • God bless you always and always Queen Elizabeth!.

  • @2000samsam1 YOU GOT YOUR AGE WRONG ON YOUR CHANNEL YOU ADDED 20 YEARS TOO MANY.

  • Long live our most delicate Queen!

  • I sang along with the British people in the video. Wish the USA had this version too, lol.

This will definitely will be sung in the 2012 London Olympics, during the opening and closing ceremonies. As well as the gold medal ceremony :)

It will sound like they're on the battlefield, preparing for war.

  • @XenaAmazon They wont sing the full version though, just in case it "offends people"...

  • @England4eva89 Why would it offend people?

  • I love everything about British Citizens.

  • @rickram1961 Why's that?

  • God Bless Her Majesty The Queen

  • More Powerfull than Americains,

more calm, more cold more .... Pramagtic!

    Long live British Queen

  • Imagine the Queen standing there as all those people are singing a song dedicated to her. If I were her I'd be like DAMN STRAIGHT :D

  • Charles and Di's wedding was 9 years to the day before I was born!

  • It always makes me laugh how a posting about the UK national anthem creates so many rants and bile-filled ravings from loonie tunes across the globe. Makes you proud to be British seeing they take the time to check out such things. After all, foreigners only bother to make comments about other countries if they matter so if the UK was some bongo bongo land nation no one would bother would they? So thanks a lot all you weirdos from around the world, keep flattering us lol.

  • This will always be the greatest national anthem on Earth. And CANADA will always remain loyal to the Queen.

  • @MrPreston49 Thats absoloutely right Mr. Preston. God Save Our Queen!

  • the choir is just splendid rn't they? amazing vocals going on. God save the Queen.

  • Why did u sing the second strain, your national anthem should concern your nation and not how other countries u hope will screw up.

If I write an Imaginary national anthem of US basically saying " Canadians shut up and Mexicans fuck off" then will it be right?

  • @cm5459 look, put down the alcohol. Put down the crack shovel and call it a night okay? just sleep it off. please do not post on Youtube if you are not coherent.

  • Gotta say, the tune lacks the magic charm (like the Italian) or military farmness and resolve (like La Marseillaise); it is a sort of sad tune and the lyrics are mediocre at best.

Why do you have to beg God for your daily problems? and it almost says The Queen shall not survive if not begged to God daily.

Finally, why did u put notions......to be continued.

  • @cm5459 God save the Queen.

  • @cm5459 Oh really what about indias anthem then..."lets all go eat curry whilst our masters let us live in shit and poverty whist they embezzle everyting we have"

Bloody cheek you have coming here and slagging off the UK whilst you come from a 4th world country that cannot even feed its own people now piss of you slack jack brown ass cunt !

  • @grooverheliboy

which india are you speaking about..and which anthem

  • @cm5459 The Queen stands for the people. We ask God to save her and in turn the people. W eonly sing one verse but we do have more verses. This is a hymn rather than just a song about the country like Jerusalm and land of Hope and Glory

  • This must have been Charles and Diana's wedding.

  • God Save Our Sexy Prince Harry

  • "Heil Dir im Siegerkranz" the old german Hymn... not very british...;-)

But ok, lets celebrate teutonic power and pride without borders!

  • @Gotenland That some-time national song of Prussia was derived from the UK national anthem in the first place. Not old German at all

  • @MarkJSau You know it for sure... this melody was sung to many hymns all over the european circle of power and honor. For example: Russia, Switzerland, Prussia, Bavaria, Liechtenstein... so its real european, not british!

  • Never ceases to amaze me how many times I read the comment "I wonder why The Queen never sings this?" Just how thick are you guys?!?!?!?!??

  • This song gave me an erection. I salute you, great Lizzie.

  • If the monarchy is abolished in Britain, by voce populis, would this not effectively abolish it in all the other 'Realms?' Can an intelligent Brit answer please?

  • @jeff62rey The voice of the people alone could not topple the monarchy, but if their elected representatives voted accordingly (which isn't even remotely likely) then constitutionally that is correct. Although there wouldn't be anything to prevent the Commonwealth nations enacting legislation to effectively retain a monarch figurehead, this would take rather a long while.

  • @jeff62rey But I think it would be better to retain it - or else there'd be nobody not to sing along to the National Anthem. . .

  • @MrZadokthePriest, 1936 Spainish election results popular front(leftist parties) had 263 seats, versus 151 seats for the right wing parties..so much for over whelming support for Franco.

  • @MrZadokthePriest, Tradition and culture are meaningless, simple reminenents from a bygone age..what you know now is tradition now is not what was before..would you ride a horse and cart simply because your ancestors did?

if you were truely 'British' then you would be a welsh speaking, Pagan, farmer, who tore off his clothes when he charged off into battle...take that for your 'tradition'

and BTW Franco invaded Spain with help from Hitler, and other fascist leaders..no very democratic is it?

  • @montecarlomick In medicine, a person who has no memory is said to have dementia. There is a danger with dismissing the past.

There is also a danger with thinking material and social progress run hand in hand or are synonymous.

We are who we are because of who we've been. If past is mere account of victimization or a foil against which our progress can be measured, we will look on those who came before us with contempt and miss out on the wisdom of the ages. The past is our treasure.

  • Best national anthem in the world? Try "The Star Spangled Banner"

  • @Marengo2534 You mean the poem written by a lawyer put to the melody of a British drinking song? (;

  • @MrZadokthePriest, yet 75% of the population Catalonia supported the revolution, 7,000,000 peasents were given control of their land, women were given marriage and abortion rights, plus the left wing parties won the majority vote in the Spanish parliament...and of course when King Francho took over many 100,000's of people were murdered under his Regime.

  • @montecarlomick I'm impressed by your keen interest in the Spanish 2nd Republic. Catalonia, as you say, exerted its right to self-determination. Fragmentation & liberalization, however, bore a cost. Far right parties came to dominate the Spain of 1933 with the electoral success of CEDA under Robles. Downhill from there. Hope your interest in history continues. It's a real passion for me.

A tip. Try not to dismiss the merits of tradition and continuity for providing stability amid chaos.

  • @MrZadokthePriest, Anarchism and Fascism are on completlely different ends of the spectrum..to even accuse me of being a fascist is like calling Hitler a Liberal progressive..it would not make any sense.

  • @montecarlomick I'm afraid I don't share your rosy view of Spain's Second Republic. The overthrow of the monarchy in 1931 led to a period of tremendous instability, the Second Republic was bitterly opposed by a majority of the Spanish people by the 1933 elections, and after five years, it descended into a bitterly fought civil war. Anarchy was replaced by fascism and while the two are at extreme ends of the spectrum, they are equally corrosive to the public welfare. Ideology is idiocy.

  • @MrZadokthePriest, it wasnt a civil war, it was a revolution, the 2nd spainish republic lasted from 1933-1939, it of course had no central government(Anarchist)....Francho declared himself te defacto monarch.

    learn a bit of politics ..please..Franco was Authoritarian(big governemnt)..Anarchism is Libertarian(small government).

another exanple of peoples ignorance towards Anarchism.

BTW Somalia is NOT anarchist..because under an Anarchist system..people have; rights, freedom, and equality.

  • @montecarlomick Under an anarchist system, people have rights, freedom & equality. Do they? How is that enforced? That's something everyone should promote, right? Except in practice rights tend to mean entitlements, freedom can be just another word for licentiousness, and equality is but an excuse for reducing everything of value down to its lowest common denominator.

You're a bright young man. Wise enough to figure out the peril of building utopia. Don't be trapped by so narrow an ideology.

  • @MrZadokthePriest you fail to mention Revolutionary Spain a prime example of how people can fucntion without a central government, Minority languages were recognised, the monarchy abolished, Churches burned of all the wealth they stole from us, production went up 4%.

You are a prime example of the ignorant fuck i have to deal with that has no knowledge about Anarchism...and just bends over and takes it like the bitch you are..if you want to be a bitch to the systme without ever questioning it

  • @montecarlomick A quick history lesson here. Franco won the Spanish civil war. The anarchists got slaughtered along with the communists. Revolutions tend to eat their own children.

Unless you're saying fascism is preferable? If so, I'll be glad to stay ignorant. At least a constitutional monarchy is not likely to arrest and kill me in the middle of the night.

  • She is NOT my queen, and am NOT her subject...never have never will be.

  • @MrZadokthePriest

you will also be aware that the Scandinavian Countries are alos some of the most Socialist aswell, despite being Monarchies.

and i'm not just strictly anti-Monarchy, im also anti-Government. Governments have caused nothing but suffering throughout history...Hitler, Stalin, Ivan the Terrible, Napoleon, Popes..Emporers..Kings and Barons..all of them have been the cause of unimaginable suffering..when one individual holds too much power it is just simply a recipe for disaster.

  • @montecarlomick No government, then you'll have anarchy. Somalia is a prime example of the lawlessness that happens when central authority breaks down.

Governments are not the problem. People are the problem. We're one nasty piece of work. Laws are for the benefit of the common good.

Sorry to hear she isn't your queen. My condolences. As one of her subjects, I think she's doing a very fine job. Like many, I'm looking forward to the Diamond Jubilee next year. Long may she reign.

  • @arnsenaljsutffuk, Believe in whatever bullshit you want, you'll never change my opinion of this elitist system that you revere..with an almost sexual fanaticism.

if you want to believe that she is better than everyone else, just through accident of birth, then fine.

it should be "false deites, save no one"

time to get rid of the UK's biggest benefit thiefs..don't you think?

  • @montecarlomick Disparity between rich and poor in the U.S. is wider now than ever before. History has shown that constitutional monarchies (Scandinavia, Holland, the Commonwealth) weigh in more on the fairness side than do republics (U.S.), esp. republics that once touted egalitarian agendas (Russia, China, etc.).

Elites always exist. People require governance. Hierarchy is just another word for accountability. Egalitarianism is a fiction, even the revolutionary kind.

    God save the Queen.

  • Sex pistols version is MMMMMUCH better...Allah save our queen and her Nazi Regime!

  • Very good my friend!

  • Not many people in this world can have felt the way the Queen does when everyone around her is singing about her.... She's just standing there like " I all own you " lol

  • @glasgow1234 shes thinking, I serve you all

  • @glasgow1234 the kaiser of germany has the norwegian king has the royal family of the netherlands has the prince of austria (R.I.P.) has

  • @glasgow1234 Glad I'm not a british subject. That old ugly dog don't own me.

  • @glasgow1234 LOL

  • She doesn't sing. well it would be weird. how would it go "God Save me...give me victorious.."

  • This is, by far and away, the VERY BEST versions of this anthem. It is so profoundly majestic, regal and full of majesty. I feel it's being played for my Lord and Savior, King Jesus Christ. The queen doesn't look all that impressed by this song in her honor. But I know King Jesus would be impressed and pleased if it was performed for Him. It is a GREAT version!!

    Thanks for posting.

  • @ramjetrabbit Phillip looks not so happy either. How must it be to sing this anthem for your own WIFE?

  • @ramjetrabbit

What the hell is this to do with bringing religion into this. Its a great song in its own right. Take your nutter preaching where it would do better....

  • This is what it means to be British!

  • she doesn't look happy they're singing about her?

It almost looks like she's saying in her head "hurry up already"

Really beautiful song though. God save GREAT Britain. I hope it can return to it's former greatness

  • @tylerpharaoh1989 What do you expect her to do smile ?? She does not show her happiness during the National;Anthem as other World leaders do not either !

  • Arranged by the fabulous Sir David Willcocks!!! Many thanks for posting this!

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The verse they sing here is the 3rd verse, which is also my favourite, due to the defending out laws part. Here it is I full:

    Thy choicest gifts in store

On her be pleased to pour

    Long may she reign

    May she defend our laws

    And ever give us cause

To sing with heart and voice

    God save the Queen

  • I kind of get a kick out of the polar opposite emotions from the Queen and the Queen Mum during this...

  • what ever happened to the original second verse of the anthem?:

    O Lord, our God arise,

    Scatter her enemies,

    And make them fall.

    Confound their politics,

    Frustrate their knavish tricks,

On Thee our hopes we fix,

    God save us all.

i've never heard it sung before

  • @TheAnglopride: I think they rarely ever sing it. The original has got 6 verses I think. But due to "offensive" words or so, they only sing the first and the third verse.

  • @TheAnglopride Maybe they finally realised that the lyrics are ridiculous.

  • i would have to say that st pauls cathedral is even more beautiful than westminster abbey.

  • Yes - the full triumphal version as I always think of it, will lots of descant in the second verse. I want this in 2012, but doubt it!

  • this pageantry is breathtaking!! and i think this is by far the best instrumental version of the anthem..it gets dramatic near the end of the 2nd verse...the organ...the trumpets...((swooning and fainting))

  • a comment mentioned that elizabeth is of german descent. so is her husband. philip was born into the danish-german house of schleswig-holstein-sonderburg-gluecksburg. exiled as a child from greece he was schooled first in germany and then england. his first native languge is german. and related. not 2 members of ANY royal family in europe are NOT related somehow. elizabeth and philip are second cousins thrice removed or vice versa, i believe....

  • breathtaking, the best version i've ever heard

  • God obviously was listening. 30 years she is still with us - a living symbol of service, duty, and dedication.

    Thank you, your Majesty.

  • Who wants THIS version performed at the opening of the 2012 London Olympics?

  • @batmous I do !! I want THIS very same version for the 2012 London Olympiad !!

  • @batmous I do !! I certainly want THIS VERY SAME version for the Opening Ceremony of the 2012 London Olympiad !!

  • @batmous without question!

  • @batmous Thumbs up. Fuck the queen, but this tune is glorious.

  • @batmous I do!

  • @batmous I do!!!

  • @batmous

And then us Yanks arent going to bow the flag and BBC will be talking about it for weeks.

  • @minecraftloverftw Who gives a shit what you fat fucks do?

  • @batmous No let's have the Benjamin Britten arrangement.

  • @batmous I'm torn between the Benjamin Britten arrangement and this one...

  • Much grinder than the version at Will and Kate's wedding... Why did they only do one verse at the royal wedding on April 29th??
