  • Hi i saw a giant variety (large leafed) in a garden center on sale and bought it there was damage to some of the leaves and i trimmed them. I've had it almost 2 months indoors in a hanging basket getting good light and all thats happened is the leaves are going brown, theres no growth. I havent changed the soil but water it once a week. Any tips to encourage growth, should i change the soil? It is winter here in the UK maybe it needs food not sure. Your input is appreciated...

  • thanks!

  • Any suggestions on getting a spider plant to produce babies? How often should you feed these plants?

  • They're so cute as babies!

  • Really liked this one! Would like to see a video on bulbs.

  • great music

  • Great video. Very informative. I would have liked to hear more about where exactly to cut the plant. I couldn't find that information anywhere online. I guess it doesn't matter, but either way that would be good to know.

  • How long does it take for spider plants to set off little plantlets? My aunt gave me one of her plantlets off of her plant last year and it hasn't set off any plantlets yet.

  • depends on the environment. i had some spider plants i didnt tend to nearly as much as i could have and it took it about a year and a half when i started seeing it have plantlets. but if its a great environment, like say indoors where there is good warm sun, it could take months.

  • One factor is the size of the pot. A little baby in a big pot will do a lot of growth underground before making its own baby shoots, even as it grows nice foliage. As it becomes pot-bound the babies will come. Keep it like this for a year or two and you will have an extravagant mama plant with more babies than you can handle!

  • We use rootone in my horticulture class.

  • Spider plants are so easy and they look great. You can buy them really cheap on abay - usually they are sold as tiny plantlets just rooted, so you can watch them grow and have fun propogating them. Great fun for kids and a good way for them to learn about plants!

  • cheers for posting this!! it always makes me laugh when you see spider plants for sale cos there reproduce so quickly and their easy to separate if you know what your doing.
