  • you and your crappy firewire audio interfaces, damn you all to hell!

  • i bet you guys have lots of fun making machines like this

  • I dont quite understand why you used BOTH the gear rack AND ordinary train rail as the track?

    For stability ???

  • A pedal/app. that simulates different kind of pickup sounds ??

    If I'm right, i want a Huuuuuge prize. ;-)

  • ooh. digital pickups send my dry over wifi to a digital rack where I have downloaded and programmed efx in any configuration imaginable, controlled also over wifi by a 9v powered "midi-footswitch" -- anything less is just some version of a pedalboard from the 80s

  • Fuck! It was supposed to be released on Nov 1st !!

  • youtube.com/watch?v=A3A1nprfuJs

  • Well they likely killed that phone over all those pickup.

  • What about a pedal you can programme/ toneprint into doing what ever you want/ need it too - one pedal fits all.

  • I got it it's a Toneprint Pickup, download Tones to your pickup wireless...

  • Based on the sounds, I'd say they've invented a dial-up modem.

  • Is it an app that can measure the impedance of a pickup?

  • Are you going to be releasing a pickup that can model other pickups, because I'm sure that would involve some cool wacky technology.

  • IPHONE SUCKS AND SO DOES APPLE. Android RULES.

  • the iphone is dead technology!!!!!.....Go Android!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • what did I just watch?

  • Ah, so this useless toy is where they put all their time.

that must be why it takes 10 + months to get something repaired by them.

  • A video about technology taking the place of the working man. Sweet!

  • Whatever it is, it will have to be good and useful for people to buy it.

Loads of different pickups are obviously a clue. Are TC going into modelling? Has the phone got anything to do with it? Perhaps.

Is it an app for Iphones, that has something to do with pickups? Who knows.

I think it will be a pedal or an app, otherwise, they wouldn't have made this video to spread hype. (If it's a rackmount reverb unit, lots of guitar players will lose interest immediately)

  • YeAh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • legos also work to create wonderful toys for children

  • i farted...

  • @PoetryEmotion94 Me too

  • Congrats to TC Electronic for making a big deal over what at this stage appears to be fuck all!

  • Yeah... a Marshall amp, a bunch of pickups, and an iphone.... don't tell me: an APP, right.... woah... I'm afraid it's too obscure to be exciting, as there are a million music-related smartphone apps out there... so your vid is under-whelming, and not very intriguing, to say the least....

  • Oh, fer cryin' out loud, tell us what you're selling!

  • I think that the real deal going on here is that they're developing an app that can analyze the magnetics properties/magnetic field or general characteristics of any pickup, and after that, they can use that info in order to create tones, presets and sounds to imitate the pickup sound characteristics. Or maybe just to help you set your gear settings in order to get an especific sound of another pickup with guitar that you have..! ????? I don't know. That's the first thing that came to my head..!

  • @jjvillafane Exactly, it also was the first thing in my head when I saw this video, the only one "problem" here is the use of this device (I do not know if it was an iPhone or an iPod) because even when they are pretty good in some features, they are pretty expensive in my country (Mexico). However, blessings to everyone here, as almost always great products in TC Electronic, and specially blessings to you jjvillafane. Hear ya!!

  • @jjvillafane obviously an iPhone app that analyzes pickups for one...could be useful in an integration scheme with their equipment somehow. Being able to tailor your Nova System to your guitar/pickups and amp would be awesome....but how?? Hmmm

  • Aha- Downloading, storing and transferring your toneprints to your pedals with your iPhone.

  • i.....i.....i just don't get it

  • yay beer

  • iBow

  • Something like ebow?

  • A Lego that can use iPhone?

  • looks like a beer commercial maybe tone print beer?

  • The iphone 5..........

  • Does this mean my wife will know where my guitar is at all times?

  • i want to know! telle me!

  • A tone copy sistem!

  • iPhone interface?

  • I don't think I want to be seen on a stage with an Erecto-Porn

  • Something about being retarded?

  • More iPhone modeling? ... Sigh...

  • April fools in april, guys. Lay off the erector set porn-fingering machine.

  • But why is there a Marshall.

  • Another mindblowing technology for people who've mistakenly come to believe their iPhone/Pad/Pod/Othernonsense has anything whatsovever to do with the guitar...

  • @VonSaxenCoburg This will make you reword your last message!

  • what the hack?

  • Seen the LED feedback...?

It could be a new technology to upload sounds / toneprints to effects pedals via soundwave / guitar pickups!! Very cool and no cable needed!

  • @7Boots I think you're on to something. Track name on the iPhone includes 'DynamicDelay'

  • @7Boots OMG I hope you are right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @guitargeant Indeed, that would be really incredible.

Would make sense, also with this testing station of different pickups. That would just be amazing!!

And they could couple it with an iPhone / Android editor for the toneprints - how cool would that be!?

  • @7Boots think about it .....how much quicker we could go thru the toneprints and *finger* out which one you like!!!!!

  • Will it be available at Toy's R Us in time for the holidays?

  • Let's hope they don't 'fib' about the power output this time (re: bass amp).

  • Wow...the $124 spent on the video production has me really intrigued! This is BIG!!!

  • Coming soon, from TC Electronic, Apple, and Lego Mindstorms.

  • A giant, annoying, mechanical dildo?

  • @duppykitoon hopefully!!

  • @duppykitoon - I LOL'd really freaking hard!!!!!!!!! :D

  • Great video guys, people will be blown away with this!

    Stick

  • That sound is a stepper motor.

  • TC-Electronic iBow

  • What an annoying sound!

  • 'Ebow' based on the vibration (alert) engine in phones.

  • if its not on android then it does no good for me.

  • @Darkwarrior006 It will be on Android soon, according to TC

  • Got it! This will be a TC-iPhone Ebow!

  • @xwallace Ibow

  • Well please amaze me more than this silly video did. ;). Looking forward to the announcement

  • What the hell was that?

  • This video is plain silly. I like it!

  • WTF is that loud high pitched noise surrounded by that machine racket? Hurt my 54yo ears that's for sure.

  • Wow, if that's what I think it is... An iPhone app that can download toneprints - play the data from the iPhone speaker through the instruments pickups (sounds like a modem transmitting data, doesn't it?), and the pedals/amps can recognise it and reprogram themselves with the toneprint? Genius if it's true!

  • There is a deice which writes themusic you play. You can see Bert Jansch using one in a video with John Renbourn.

  • If you hold your iPhone close to a single coil pickup the sound output comes quite cleanly through your amp (really useful for quickly solving arguments when learning stuff in rehearsals! ;-) Maybe TC noticed this & have done something with it?

  • i want to see someone creating a device where you can PLAY your guitar.. and then it automatically writes down the tab or partiture.

    THATS a step ahead.

    Q: P

  • @WithFullDistortion - It's called a midi guitar

  • @gslabaugh ja.. but then you need to have a midi device installed on your guitar and etc. you cant just plug it in and star playing that the program will in real time take note of the notes. q: /

    or am i wrong?

  • @WithFullDistortion Actually, using something like Finale or other music score program you can record from any midi device and it will track the notes. I believe Finale will chart tab as well. I have a Parker Midi Fly that I have used for this but any midi guitar will work. There is a device for around $99 that you plug your guitar into and it will convert the signal to midi. Not sure how well it works.

  • design your own signature pick up, the wx3 Spoonwood (dot net) singlecoil YEAH

  • Something to do with "tone transfusion"...maybe capture the frequency response of a pickup on one guitar and generate an EQ curve for a TC Electronic pedal so you can apply that pickup's response to your own guitar? That's about as realistic of a possibility that I can think of.

  • Instead of wasting their time with stupid lego teasers they should release this new polytune firmware that is in beta "available soon" for about half a year.... Also I am sure that the screwed the powercore users are very excited about this teaser! NOT!

  • @DrStein13 Hi,

do you have any experience with the polytune? With which equipment do you use it and is it working well? Algorithms in the background are for sure complex!

    Regards

  • pickup modeling via iphone app.

or a new app measures your pickup's values and allows you to download different values into your tone print ports ?

  • Surely, a guitar mic simulation.

  • ...my guess: an app which will have access to the phones antenna and send specific (20-20kHz) signals as electromagnetic waves. These induce a voltage in the PU-winding and result in a Signal at the output of the Guitar.

So the really cool guys (actually the really lazy ones) just have to select a tune -> hold the phone close to one of the PUs -> move the fingers over the fretboard and wink at the girls ;-)

If so: I´m curious on the digital reproduction of the actual string-movement.

    Cheers

  • @LoveBoxZero , Yep it was an request from Fred Durst

  • @larsyap O.K. - can I find something about the request online?

  • @LoveBoxZero Was referring to you "Wink at the girls" app :-)

  • @larsyap ...was wondering where you got the information about Freds request - couldn´t find something online.

"Wink at the girls" - indisputable cool name for this app. -> Hey T.C. contact me if you want to pick it! ;-)

  • what

  • maybe a magnetless pickup

  • The virtual Nuno Bettencourt Pinky Simulator App?

  • The pickups automatically erase the iPhone memory? Hmm... Automatic pickup heights measurement tool? Wft?! Maybe it simply controls all the Lego...

  • Pickups with a touch pad..that let's you choose from single coil/humbucker/P90 sound? That's sci-fi, ok...

  • That finger nail is disgusting... but the suggested idea seem pretty cool.

  • if it's some sort of app, I agree with @SparkPlugnl!! It better be for Android too!!!

  • Lol...

  • Why all the Lego

  • @theoriginalbensteele

TC Electronic is based in Denmark and so is LEGO.

  • i dont get it...

  • lol wut?

  • Love it!

  • april fools?

  • eBow-ish app??

It better be for Android too!!

  • April 1? Gotta check my calendar!
