Im planning on buying a gibson les paul standard for about 450$ I like how it looks but i wonder if you would recommend it to someone that likes playing more hard rock guitar ie. Queen, Muse? my next option on hte list is a Brian May red Special but thats quite pricey
And there are intonation issues when moving up and down the neck. Having the guitar set up doesn't solve the issues unless I have the neck completely redone. Not worth it on a $400 guitar. Most of all, the guitar is neck heavy, so the neck pulls downward when you're wearing it with a strap. It's a pain to have to hold the neck up while you play. Best played sitting down, and best run through an amp like a Fender or old AC30, running relatively clean. My advice: save for a real Gibson.
I own this guitar in the Amber finish. It was a good first guitar. Now that I've had it a while and have learned a bit more, I find myself not really loving the pickups (I think they tend to be muddy when overdriving an amp, especially with the added bass resonance of the hollowbody. I also don't find it to be the most playable neck (and that's coming from an admittedly sucky guitarist). It definitely is set up poorly from the factory. One of the pickups is actually a bit crooked!
@mmmgtm dude as someone said brand means nothing. I have a replica of a gibson and I admit it is crap but I am getting better pickups and it will sound awesome after.

Its a fake epiphone look at where it normallly says the model name of the guitar. :41-:45 seconds it sys gibson instead of the model name and its held on by three bolts instead of two
its not the brand that makes the guitar, its the guitar that makes the guitar, there are thousand dollar guitars that sound like crap and 500 dollar guitars that sound amazing.
Be careful there. Although I've played a $200 laguna that sounded incredible, and a 5000 dollar Paul Reed Smith Modern Eagle with the fancy Rosewood neck that sounded dead and lifeless, that is not always true.
Guitar Center has quite a few les pauls, I think I saw this exact one once, but there was others like a $179.99 version of this, it is an Epiphone yes.
hey im looking for a guitar thats not to heavy sounding (already have one) and that would be good for rock-hard rock. would this be a good guitar for that?
no, if you're looking for classic rock tone, i'd recommend a reg les paul, sg, or explorer for that. this les paul is more bluesy since it's a semihollow
kay so ive been playing acoustic guitar for several years and im looking to buy an electric, i was looking at some epiphone les pauls yesterday, am i better off with one of those or what is the best kind if guitar i should get..?
if u want really high end guitars i would get a gibson les paul but those are pricey. if u want a good sounding guitar but not as much cost i would get an epiphone les paul standard plain or plus top (probly plain)
yeah i too am personally a strat man now. my first guitar was a bc rich warlock which actually has not been that bad. but i had later bought an epi sg and it is shit. gibson guitars are alright but not worth the price. btw i was curious what your thoughts were on the vg strat. enjoyed the my sharona ending also lol.
epiphone les pauls come in 2 different types the kindof midway les paul and the best epiphone can give u les paul the 1st step is about £350 or $500 and the second one the best one would range between £700-£900 or $900-$1200
this demo is amazing for two reasons, firstly i will own a Epi Les Paul in a few weeks time and secondly you produced all the sounds i love in one short video. I didnt realise i loved Oasis so much, real gutsy guitar sounds . Rock on man.
Man, you're holding a rare guitar.
