When MK starts playing, he tears your soul right open, leaving you in a sentimental state. As I'm having a tough time right now, this definitaly applies to myself. On the other hand, it's also extremely soothing to listen to. I've been a huge fan of Mark Knopfler for a long time, and he's one of those rare artists that hits the right notes at the right time. He's surely in a league of his own. Absolutly brilliant.

The song is legendary and the Notting Hillbillies are great, but the singer is too shy, he looses confidence right after the first well sung few words. Listen to it: "Lord I feel li..." then he suddenly seems to step back. last but not least, this live interpretation is slower than the one on the cd, and I think this doesn't do any good to the song.

I saw this performed by the Notting Hillbillies at Sheffield City Hall. I'll never forget that guitar solo cutting through the air. I nearly fainted. It was one of the great musical experiences of my life. I've got the chills just recalling it now... Just pure magic. Out of this world.
