I'll give the devil its due, Deadly Premonition does a lot of things right in terms of replay value. The way you can interact with the town and its people, along with the numerous side quests shows a great deal of effort. I won't criticize this game for its technical shortcomings, but I can't immerse myself in the story when it owes so much, on both a substantial and stylistic level, to a single work.
Heavy Rain's whole thing was it's story, and not even that was good. I see what they were going for, but the voice acting was awful. Indigo Prophecy did everything Heavy Rain did, and in fact, heck, it did it better. Indigo Prophecy went to shit 2/3's of the qay through, of course; however, Heavy Rain went to shit the second anyone opened their trap.
@MrDeathSmiles Eh? I never said that Heavy Rain was any better. I just felt as if people gave this game such praise because it wasn't Heavy Rain, especially Jim Sterling; it was especially ironic in his case because he railed against the game's ad campaign for relying too much on its filmic qualities. Yes, when Deadly Premonition didn't rely on its Twin Peaks inspiration. That's my guff with this inexcusable game and its praise, not any comparison to HR.
best game of my life, everybody must play it

Deadly Premonition is like quantum mechanics. If you think you understand it, then you don't. By the way, more game do need to just say "Fuck" 1:17

This game surely has its flaws but is really good at the same time.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
If you want story, read One Hundert Years of Solitude , watch Ran. If you want a good game, steer clear from this garbage.

No, I'm not joking, Deadly Premonition is one of the best games in existence.
No game this entire generation has the story and characters that Deadly Premonition has.

@MrDeathSmiles I hereby endorse this Yorktube commentary.

I wish gamers weren't so easily lead by an absolute ripoff. "It's okay, it's not Heavy Rain."
