I'm afraid you're mistaken on two counts ; the fertility rates are low indeed, however this is not to a degree which disallows sufficient workforces to be available in future generations at all. Secondly, Denmark is quite a lot less in debt than U.S.A considering the differences in size and population of course :)

Well, the tax rates are quite high, especially for companies and corporations, but that hasn't really held back the Danish business at all to my knowledge; roughly the workforce is employed in farming: 3%, industry: 21%, service: 76%, and this is generally something that hasn't changed much the last 10-15 years, and before then the industry only weighed more due to unemployment following the oilcrisis of '73 which didn't really start to turn around before '85 in Denmark :)
