Doing your own personal part to improve your overall health is crucial, that much is inarguable. However, certain diseases that circumvent your healthy lifestyle are the real issues on the table. If a Doctor says a bone morrow transplant will save the patients life the insurance company is the one who looks at the cost of the procedure and makes a fiscal decision, which is a complete disregard of human life. That is what NEEDS to be regulated more closely.

I don't think he's being harsh on poor people. There's a difference between someone who has no money and no means to provide for themselves vs a person that chooses to spend unwisely on their own instant gratification (i.e., $6/pack cigarettes). As for the caring Christian part, I suspect that this may be foreign to people who are looking to catch someone being hypocritical, but the Bible has over 2,000 references to money. I was born with a dislocated hip. This means I cannot get private health insurance. The NHS gave me an artificial hip when I was 21, and I went on to university and became a full tax paying member of society.

ACTUALLY the american healthcare system is rated 35th in the world by the W,H,O you pay on average $6300 a year for health care here in the uk we pay $2100 our average life expectancy is 80 your is 78,on top of this we can also take private insurance and still it cost less than you pay,you are being fleeced by doctors and insurance companys,they keep you sick to use up your insurance then kick you out an your arse when it runs out.If i get sick the NHS looks after me regardless of the cost .

We do have some amazing things in the healthcare system. We also have some big problems. In for profit healthcare unscrupulous people who run healthcare institutions can deny life saving treatment to people. They can turn people away who have paid their premiums for years. This is wrong.

As a caring Christian I want everyone to be able to go to the doctor. We already spend more per capita to cover the people currently on medicare than most countries pay to cover their entire citizenry.

I've never really made much money but I live reasonably well because I limit the majority of my expenses to necessities, and to healthy, organic foods.

I don't exercise as much as I should but I'm getting back into it because my daughter is interested in exercise. I feel I can be a better role model and provide encouragement if she sees me doing it (+ it's good for me!)
