This is nothing special. BMWs without comfort access can do this because you didn't open the door between taking the key out and restarting without the key in. Stupid video.
My car has no comfort package and no keyless go and work keyless only with this way. This is not a bug of BMW. It's a way to start up your car and lock it with one key.
i would not play with it that much.. what if the car system knows there is no key and it suddenly shut down the engine :o.. imagine this when you are on the highway ^^
Omg!!!!!! this is so cool.. Wait, my dishwasher has push button start, come to think of it so does my microwave, my toaster, my laptop, my tv and pretty much everything else in my house...
This is the anti hijack feature. It has nothing to do with comfort access. It's if you start to get out your car and someone grabs you or your keys, you can restart the vehicle and drive off as long as you have restarted the car within 10 seconds.
This reminds me the 60' Beetle my mother had (which was my grandpa's at first lol). One day while she was driving she said to me: "look at this!" and she removed the key while driving. The keyless engine was invented from generations ago xD
ah, so no comfort access pack? you think that's the anti hijack feature! ok, try that! : 1. Start the car with the Key 2. Key out and put it away more than 5 meter's 3. try it again within this you say 15 seconds 4. make a Video with the proof the car still start's even the key is 5 meter away! If that works is will call up BMW and you have a technician position right away!!
if the car comes with the comfort access package it can do this.. which obviously it does.. depending on the year and model the key will be charged while in the slot.
what's the point in this except put you in possible danger with the car stalling at any given time?, by the way I work for BMW, this is not safe practise, the key is there for a reason, if you didn't need it, we wouldn't manufacture it at cost?.
how is this an ANTI car theft feature? if the car jacker gets in the car within 15 seconds of the car being turned off they can just turn it on and drive away? wouldnt that be a helpful carjacker feature
@Enzo393 This car has push to start, but not a keyless start feature, so the remote has to be in the dock to start up. Your car does have keyless start, and the dock thing is just to charge the key fob.
what is the point of this video. This is not a fault with the car. Its designed like that. The 5 Series and M5 are the same. Whats you point I dont get it?

uummmmm lock the car with you out of it then wait like a minute and unlock the car then keep the key in your pocket and hit the button it will start the slot you put it in is just a holder i should know i have a bmw.
@mikeydude319 no its not. its just something you can do with the new keys. Its probably so on a cold morning you can go out, start the engine until it warms, lock the doors, then get back in 10min later and go to work.
it dose not work if you have the door open . the miss done it one day and left the keys at home i had to go to her work with the keys as she turned the car off then seen she had no keys
It is a safety feature. Let's say you stall the engine on a train crossing and get panic and don't get it right with the key etc, then you can re-start the engine and move the car even if you removed the key.
This happened to me today in my 335d. i was freaking out! a few weeks ago i hardwired a Valentine One and was freakingout i might have messed it all up. does seem crazy though
@Jackcc5 Wrong. The key needs to be inserted into the slot, then pushed in for the ignition to be switched on. The key is locked in the slot while the ignition is on. Pushing the key again will shut off the ignition and release the key.
The ONLY way to turn on the ignition and start/run the engine without having the key inserted is with Comfort Access installed. Even then, inserting the key while the car is on will lock it in the slot. You cannot remove a key from a running car, period.
no idiot it dosent turn off the engine when u put it to drive, as long as you are in the car, and steering wheel dosent lock too, until if you walk away about 10metrer from car, key on you then its shuts off, if you wanna run it again insert the key in place and wait 10seconds, after that you good to go, if you dont have one listen who ever has it...fuck face, poor fuck sick...

@JAViewer Actually, Keyless Entry is a car that has a remote control that unlocks the doors, which all cars after 96ish SHOULD have them.. lol.. You're talking about BMW's Comfort Access System, I believe. ;)
@lradeeca wrong with keyless start you can infact on most you can start the car and leave the key at home drive to the store and it will run. BUT once you turn the car off you wont be able to turn it back on. i know this because i have an08 nissan altima w/ keyless entry and push button start

@MrSamb099 What do u mean I can not afford? if I buy something I buy it with cash, not as Europeans or americans on credit. Buying on credit does not mean how rich ur it just shows how much money u owe to banks, sucker!!!
@yelzhan123 haha i just got mad when you said there shit cars! so not cool lol. they are awesome cars i have a e46 m3 and im in love with it. and im American and paid cash cuz thats the way to do it and not get fucked over lol! But cant wait to get a GT-R :]
@MrSamb099 go and repair ur rear subframe defect from BMW, change ur leaking hyudralic pipies, kicking steering rack, failing and rattling vanos, fukn car ever made in Germany- Rubbish quality car , BMW=Big Money Wasted
1) watch?v=B3YQg_cJXL4
2) watch?v=EPfKTMSnQAU
3)watch?v=fQCvvnVDQIo
BMW- not a car -but tons of continious problems on 2 wheels
@yelzhan123 i dont have any of those problems nor do people i know who have Beemers. Its like any other car. If you dont take care of it it fails. Common sense.
@yelzhan123 oh dear, this comes forma man who doesnt own a bmw. i love it when ppl say stuff like, oh well fix your leaking pipes and rear sunframe. get a life. bmws have always, still are, and always will be awesome cars that are simply better than most cars on the road, i have 1 series, my mum has a 3 and my dad has the new z4. You sir, have no bmw clearly. go home and have a quite word with yourself. bmw, not the best car, but better than yours!
This is a design feature it remembers the key for only a brief few seconds (used to be ten but now five on some models) reason is if the key drops out due to driver catching it at level crossing etc. It is a panic start mode.
Of course if the car has CA it will always start out of the slot as long as key battery and key are OK and the key is valid and in the car.
i just bought a 2010 BMW i know u guys r probably saying its a recession y is he buying a 2010 M3 i have been saving up for it for years and it just happened to be a recession and i have tried this trick it only works a few times but it fucks up your petrol gauge
It works. I have a 335i without the Comfort Access Package. The valet pulled up in my car last night and when I got in the car it was running and the key was in the center console!
That doesn't need to be in that slot. Keyless Entry, Keyless go - that means you keep that little block in your pocket... Mercedes has the same. You don't need to touch that thing at any time....
and another thing if you do try this remember to put the fob back into the dash and take it out again once you have stopped the engine, otherwise the steering lock wont engage and the ignition wont be fully switched off which, trust me, is enough to give you a flat battery if you leave it over night!
This definitely works, I tried it on my new 3 series and I definitely don't have keyless go or the comfort pack as my company are far to cheep to cough up for any optional extras, not even rear parking sensors!
well most of us who own high end vehicles live or work in major cities where you sometimes have to park PARALLEL and not just in a parking space or dirt road
@whitesupra Dude, parallel or not you shouldn't NEED a rear parking sensor if you know how to drive your car and have been practicing your parkings...
Actually that's what I thought, but my 2006 e60 did the same thing. If you can find someone who has this key, and doesn't have comfort access, try it. To make sure its not comfort access, first try it without putting the key in (engine should not start), then put the key in, start the engine, stop engine. take key out and start it. (Engine should start)
This is nothing special. BMWs without comfort access can do this because you didn't open the door between taking the key out and restarting without the key in. Stupid video.

It's a proximity thing. It's the same thing with my Nissan. I don't even put the key in the place that holds it, I just have it in my pocket.
Basically, your BMW recognizes the signal that is created by your key and it knows that you are the holder of the key. So it starts up. :3

MrSamb099 1 year ago
@MrSamb099 What do u mean I can not afford? if I buy something I buy it with cash, not as Europeans or americans on credit. Buying on credit does not mean how rich ur it just shows how much money u owe to banks, sucker!!!

BMW- not a car -but tons of continious problems on 2 wheels
yelzhan123 1 year ago
@yelzhan123 i dont have any of those problems nor do people i know who have Beemers. Its like any other car. If you dont take care of it it fails. Common sense.

Pretty sure that thing you are using qualifys as a key.
InFaDeLiTy 1 year ago
BMW literally think of everything. Gonna have to try that on our 330d tonight.
SomeRandomer123 1 year ago
does the 2007 328i coupe have this key kind of thing, that looks sweet
kHuNkHuNa10 1 year ago
it's a panic function.
markthatmarker 1 year ago
You don't even need to have the key in it do you? just have it around you.

The One series Sucks
Josertheninjacat 1 year ago
This is a design feature it remembers the key for only a brief few seconds (used to be ten but now five on some models) reason is if the key drops out due to driver catching it at level crossing etc. It is a panic start mode.
Of course if the car has CA it will always start out of the slot as long as key battery and key are OK and the key is valid and in the car.

I have the 2009 335i XDrive and i have tired the trick and it does work, and same as my friends BMW 2009 328i works too
XxSKCshowxX 1 year ago
yes because you only put the key in to charge the dam thing lol
shahan99 1 year ago
@shahan99
If you have comfort access the key does not charge while it is in the socket!
Only standard keys are rechargeable.

i just bought a 2010 BMW i know u guys r probably saying its a recession y is he buying a 2010 M3 i have been saving up for it for years and it just happened to be a recession and i have tried this trick it only works a few times but it fucks up your petrol gauge
joshhendo2 1 year ago
i've tried this and i have a 2009 328i
does it matter if the car is stick shift or auto?
sillychink3293 1 year ago
It works. I have a 335i without the Comfort Access Package. The valet pulled up in my car last night and when I got in the car it was running and the key was in the center console!

my toyota prius has the same thing
ctryboy1815 1 year ago
@ctryboy1815 its called keyless go. Top Gear showed it on their Dodge Challenger episode.
bentleyv8t 1 year ago
@ctryboy1815 Same with my '05 Avalon Limited...
1964mm 1 year ago
That doesn't need to be in that slot. Keyless Entry, Keyless go - that means you keep that little block in your pocket... Mercedes has the same. You don't need to touch that thing at any time....
ThePhilosophical 1 year ago
You put the key in the slot to charge it. You can start you car if the key is within a foot (depending on different brands)
bob3104558 1 year ago
and another thing if you do try this remember to put the fob back into the dash and take it out again once you have stopped the engine, otherwise the steering lock wont engage and the ignition wont be fully switched off which, trust me, is enough to give you a flat battery if you leave it over night!
josephweller 2 years ago
@josephweller you dont have to put the key fob back in . just press the start/stop again.
patsfan1228 1 year ago
This definitely works, I tried it on my new 3 series and I definitely don't have keyless go or the comfort pack as my company are far to cheep to cough up for any optional extras, not even rear parking sensors!
josephweller 2 years ago
''not even rear parking sensors!''
are you a woman? cause a man who knows how to drive a car shouldnt be needing one...?
weetnietgeen 1 year ago
well most of us who own high end vehicles live or work in major cities where you sometimes have to park PARALLEL and not just in a parking space or dirt road
whitesupra 1 year ago
@whitesupra
high end = supra? you must be talking about something other than the high end that comes to my mind... ha
kycole1 1 year ago
no not a supra, just because that is my "username" doesnt mean its what I consider a high end car.
whitesupra 1 year ago
@whitesupra Dude, parallel or not you shouldn't NEED a rear parking sensor if you know how to drive your car and have been practicing your parkings...
XXCents 1 year ago
@XXCents dude, and what if u don´t see something? there is allways a dead corner, this is how it got solved.
queenzortje 1 year ago

this video is a hoax! this bmw probley has the comfort access system option witch is where you just have to have the key on you to start the car.
LarryDavidFreak 2 years ago
To LarryDavidFreak: Not to piss you off but you mean which not witch.
colannelson 2 years ago
Actually that's what I thought, but my 2006 e60 did the same thing. If you can find someone who has this key, and doesn't have comfort access, try it. To make sure its not comfort access, first try it without putting the key in (engine should not start), then put the key in, start the engine, stop engine. take key out and start it. (Engine should start)
