Hermann Prey had an amazing voice. I saw him and Lucia Popp in a TV version of Carmina Burana - not staged but actually filmed - in Germany years ago. I would love to get hold of that on DVD if it's available.

I meant to said I normally listen to mainly American music such as hip hop, pop, rap, r@b, rock but hardly this type of music. I just recently check out O fortuna on you tube and also came upon Herman Prey. I m glad I did. Great baritone singer.!! You should see him singing lieder that´s why I would advise you to check his Schubert-Schwanengesang cycle. It is truly amazing. It is divided in seven parts and I suggest you to see them all of them in sequence. Rgds.

When I close my eyes and listen to this master piece it bring such emotion His voice truly deserve great respect and many praise. I have a question for anybody that can answer this for me, So "Carl Orff" is the writer/director of this musical play call "Carmina Burana" and "O fortuna " is one of the song in this musical. Who or what is "Herman Prey"? a song?? Please correct me if i am wrong.

Thank You for your reply. Herman prey sing the baritone of this piece bye Carl Orff who wrote the opera play, Carmina Burana. One of piece in that opera play is O Fortuna.....I have just read the words to o Fortuna in english. and WOW!!! very fascinating and so chilling. It sure make u thinks. I would sure love to see the translation of piece in english sung by Herman Prey. Bye the way, what a voice by Herman Prey, Great Performance!!!! ENCORE!!!

Carl Orff composed a setting of a number of poems from a medieval collection known as 'Carmina Burana' (and his setting takes its name). The piece 'O Fortuna' opens and closes the work. This is a singer named Herman Prey singing one of the pieces in the work, called 'Dies, nox et omnia'

"O Fortuna" is just the first minutes of it.

Herman Prey is just the baritono who sings the part of the video.

Bravo bravo! Phenomenal! This piece is so difficult for any Bariton, but he does it so decently and with easy. He never uses his falsetto-voice! unbelievable!
