  • the only game from genesis/32x/scd era that has widescreen and this makes big difference on todays TVs

  • I saw this at the arcade of a skating rink, and I thought, "I can't miss this." So I played for most of the time while all my friends were skating. I know they probably thought I was nerdy or something, but I didn't care, because I had Virtua Fighter!!

  • one of the best childhood fighting game for me my best friend had a 32X and i was always at his home we even had a fighting tournament because of this game loll sorry bad english

  • Those primitive polygons are charming in a way.

  • I have a ROM of this, and I originally played it at a friend's house in 2007, and I can vouch that this is a great fighting game.

  • They should've put this and the other interesting 32X games on the Wii's Virtual Console, PS3 Playstation Network, and Xbox 360's Live Arcade. I love playing Virtua Fighter and always interested on playing the first.

  • Is there any way that I can I buy this game(or any other 32x games) on a modern console?

  • Loads of re-skinned characters... reminds me of Mortal Kombat

  • he couldn't say better: the gameplay and controls are real solid!

very fun to play, i don't care if the graphics aren't good!

  • I bought a 32X when it came out in Europe, because I loved the Sega Arcades and wanted to have all "Virtuas" at home. And StarWars Arcade. My Friends laughed at me. But I was enjoying every minute! Still love the charm.

  • Love this game

  • Once I get a summer job, I'll be working to get the extra cash to splurge on a Sega Genesis, a Sega 32X, an extra controller for two player, virtua racing, and virtua fighter. Shouldn't be too incredibly expensive. I'm not wasting any more money on a Saturn until I'm ready. The first one I got conked out within a week; the disk drive stopped working. What a ripoff. Cartridges are more reliable. GO CARTRIDGES!

  • 5:31 lol noooo... double knee drop to the groin xO

  • The Arcade game was mighty fun, I didn't care about the weird graphics, and if you do care about the graphics being bad you miss the point of this game, sheer fun

  • You know, I have to admit that I have always hated the look of this game. Even when it was new when I saw it in the arcade in the early 90's I thought it looked ugly. 3D games just weren't ready yet.

  • saturn verison wasn't as blocky.

  • super blocky graphics

  • @nooblet911

    that's its charm

  • How could the AVGN blow this away? This was innovative for its time!

  • @redfoxbennaton i know! this was pretty fun!

  • @redfoxbennaton Because the fighters, "...act like they have problems".

  • @4583945 its still an epic game.

  • @redfoxbennaton doesn't mean it didn't suck

  • @redfoxbennaton The system itself still sucks.

  • @redfoxbennaton Sometimes he intentionally makes fun of good games for entertainment value.

  • It looks like fighters destiny with less good grafix

  • @Reptilazer The other way around. This baby predates FD by 5 years, during which the genre gave us Tekken, Soul Blade and Battle Arena Toshinden to name a few.

  • @Lioyd1rving true i hadint though about the 32x being older than the N64

  • i remember playing this when it first came out and still have fond memories of it. Where did those years go? they went to fast for my liking.

  • I still think that somewhere in Virtua Fighter they should have a way to unlock a video of the cast doing a remake of the "Money For Nothing" video by: the Dire Straits...

  • was i the only one thinking of Goku as a super sayin when you saw Jacky ? bright spiky yellow hair and the red cloths.

makes me wanna watch some Dragon ball right now.

  • Comment removed

  • Had that game made by the same people, whose made Tekken?

  • All moves, punches and kicks are like in Tekken. It have the speedy fight like games of Namco. Jacky looks like Paul and move, kick like Paul and has the same ending of battle like Paul. Sarah looks and move like Nina, but has jumping-kick like Law .Kage looks and move like Raiven. I am sorry for my english.

  • Things you gotta hate, is that every time you jump, its like your on the moon, and second, the characters act like they have problems.

  • @V1dW4tcher YEAAAAaaAAAAAHHHHH

  • The only 32X game i have ever see with some decent graficks and good sound and music!

  • The graphics look so blocky and "ugly" (for lack of better term), that they are beautiful.

  • I really want a 32x for my Sega genesis model 1.I have the Sega CD attachment for it but not the 32x thingy yet.I cant wait to get it to play this game! Do you guys recomend any other 32x games?!

  • @willmill77642 Doom, Night Trap CD 32X (requires both attachments), Star Wars, Knuckles' Chaotix. :)

  • @willmill77642 virtua racing deluxe

  • Remember the robot... Rob was it? (R.O.B.) Not very many games were for that either. Maybe two. Hahahaha. I always wanted the robot though.

  • @Jerrid3 get brawl or mario kart ds you can play as him ;)

  • @RetroShinigami

How many games did he have that was glove enabled or were made to be used with the glove. Not a game that was an after thought, but an actual Power Glove game?

  • @RetroShinigami

I understand that it was a weird idea, but did not any of the games played with the power glove work decently?

  • @RetroShinigami

AVGN digs too deep in every single thing. But that is one reason why I like him, because he is funny and some of the things do make sense in a crazy kind of way. Like the first time I saw him play Top Gun and he could not land and he bashed it. Common sense to me is that the directions on the game pad were reversed and later on he admitted to it. He bashed the power glove badly too and maybe it deserved it, but I do not think he tries hard enough, but that is why he is AVGN

  • @RetroShinigami

Although I love AVGN, he is more about bashing 99% of the time. In fact he has only had one real review where he said a game was good and that was for Duck Tales. I like him for all laughs and bad games and CGR for real games and some good funny moments. However, 32X was really not that good from the stand point of all that had to go into it and then they were already coming out with a new system anyway and abandoned it. But for the 32 being more powerful, not by much.

  • I once played Virtua Fighter on the Sega Super 32X around after it came out and I think it was fantastic! :D

  • I hate how when you jump your on the moon

  • ,bkgurigrfawwegtrrgntutgjgkfggjg8rgbgttittjfuftbgewrtervrvfnbc8dbdfugrggjhhgigkofjok

  • Grande jogo de Mega 32X. Gosto muito da série.

  • Why do the characters jump like they are on the moon?

  • that was a funny commercial

  • Ah definately my favourite game for the 32X which IMO actually has a pretty decent library considering it was only around for a year or two. But if anyone could help answer a question for me, I've heard that the 32X had additional audio chipsets in it but was rarely used. Does this game make use of it?

  • how come you never review any tekken games?

  • omg mark is right this version is better than Virtua fighter 1 for the sega saturn XD

  • Between October 1994 and June 1995 there was alot of activity in the Sega world and if you were a gamer sunk in hard on everything they had out at the time you know as well as I do that having this game on your TV at Christmas time 1994 you couldn't have asked for a better present.

  • i think the game looks pretty good and pretty close to the saturn version, shame the 32x wasnt supported very well

  • ive got prt 5 for ps3 wow it has changed

  • it's virtuAAAAAAAA fighter not virtuAAAAALLLLL

  • Fuckin love classic game room ! =)

  • VF2 looks amazing after looking at this game.

  • Is the sound of a 32x game affected by the model genesis your 32x is attatched to?

Because I know that the original model 1 genesis has the highest quality sound processor and that later models have a lower quality sound processor.

Any info will be much appreciated.

  • @Alevamltd im not really sure but i would imagine so

  • i like jacky's grandma shoes, they'll turn any guy on.

  • i like Jacky's grandma shoes...

    they'll turn any guy on

  • Makes me wanna break out the ps2 and play #2!

  • 1:06 wow

  • I seem to sometimes like older versions of currently continuing fighting series for their straightforward simplicity.

Like this Tekken 5 I just got, it has T1, 2 and 3 on it. And all those three games are really enjoyable, even if it's just to see where the series has its roots.

And Law's war-screams in T1 and 2 are just hilarious.

    "HYAAAYAYAYAYA!"

  • I actually originally had a 32X. While I still feel a little ripped off by Sega. I had many many hours of fun playing Virtua Fighter, Doom, Star Wars: Arcade, and Mortal Kombat II. You can get a 32X for dirt cheap now, so if you like classic gaming I would pick one up.

  • I''m not a fan of the 32x, but this is pretty damn good for considering what it's running on. And the music is acutally pretty damn good. You see a port like Doom for 32x and they completely butchered the soundtrack, but here it sounds 10X better.

I might actually try this game out now.

    Great game, great review!

  • Why are they fighting on the moon?

  • @frickfrock999 does the moon have clouds??

  • why don't they bring this out for the ds?

  • Man, having played both the arcade and the sega saturn versions this looks terrible, but at least it doesn't have the "patience grasshoper" loading message. However, it still moves smoothly.

  • I remember being in awe of this game when I got it on release in '95.

  • I play alot of older games but ive never owned a 32x, nice review

  • Good review

  • Great review

  • Who's The Main Char. Of The Series?

  • @ladyo07 Akira Yuki, I guess

  • class game this on the 32x

  • i have no patience, where might i find this game/system?

  • I love the look of our first steps into the 3d realm. Those were the days...

  • i have this game for sega saturn, but the version of saturn have better graphics and quality of the sound. and you are right, it still very fun to play this game, and is more fun with multiplayer.

  • KAGEEEEE!!!! Ha, you got your ass kicked by him when you were playing Jacky..

  • for some reason this reminds of dead or alive for ps1

  • You should review Fighters Destiny for N64!!

that's an awesome fighitng game =)

And well, about this game, I like the way it looks and plays, but I dislike the sound of the music

  • it was one of my fav game yeah

  • fuck that knee drop at the end devastated mark!

  • @Jly171992 YAY ANOTHER NEWFAG!

  • Comment removed

  • I would've loved to of seen Mark's face while he was impersonating Jacky's ''YEAH!'' xD

  • MARK IS AWESOME

  • KITBRO!

  • damn those blocks hurt.lol

  • this game was awsome, the graphics were awsome and the animations were awsome, back in the day. but for christs sake, the 32x was such an unbelievable failure. it was the worst piece of shit ever created. even worse than the sega cd. but i just rebought one for 5 bucks, lol

  • thats what i hate about cds they take to much time to load

  • Looks a bit like the first Tekken game except with a little worse graphics but still awesome.

  • @dwagothegod This game came before Tekken and ran on older hardware, so it's Tekken that looks like VF.

  • @TheMVRules He never played VF. He played Tekken. So, to him, irregardless of which released first, VF looks like Tekken.

  • talk about a game ahead of its time when it comes to 3D graphics; pretty cool game overall.

  • Man, this game just blew us away when it first hit the arcade. It was like playing the future at the time!!

  • Speaking of loading times.. What was up with Batman Forever on the SNES having loading screens?

  • You mock Street Fighter!??? O_o! lol

  • Please review more 32X games!

  • kagemaru!!!

  • YEAH!!!!! =D

  • also, VF Remix was made in response to Namco's Tekken, if i'm not mistaken. with VF1 coming out before Tekken, and being THE launch title for Saturn. VF Remix was made to show that the Saturn was capable of the same level of textured detail n junk. --it had nothing to do with the 32X version.--

  • as a kid i didn't care that i had the 32X version of VF. i didn't have a Saturn, so the fact i was able to play this awesome game was more than enough to put a smile on my face :-D however, the 32X models are about half the poly count of the Saturn version, and as i'm older now, i'll take the Saturn version over the 32X one. music wise, i liked'em both. the Genesis chiptunes had it's charm ,and the Saturn had it's awesome arranged music.

  • ITS SO SMO000000OTH

    what teh fps?

  • I havn't hooked up my 32x in so long. I lost the cables years ago when I moved into a new house.

  • YAY! mark is back! =D

  • My favorite Virtua Fighter is VF3. They should put that on XBox Live Arcade or PSP.

  • Square fighters xD love it!

  • I remember playing Virtua Fighter 1 and 2 in the arcades back in the day. Pretty sweet game, its pretty difficult too!

  • I have this for my 32X and is easily my favourite game for it, followed closely by After-Burner then Kolibri. I just need to get Virtua Racing Deluxe to complete my 32X collection aaand maybe Tempo. That'd make ten great games in all for the system not including any upgraded Genesis ports. I know people love to trash the 32X and I agree it was a stupid idea but considering that it was only around for like 2 years, that's a pretty good number and i enjoy mine a lot.

  • you have a great storyteller voice :D:D:D:D

  • @SebastianBergenwall

    You have a tasty cock.

  • Loading times...Brings up a peeve of mine now. You buy a game for the PS3 or 360, pop it in and you get the unskippable logos for all the companies behind it. Once that 2 minutes is out of the way you press start and get another minute loading screen. Why not load the first section as the logos run through? Sorry, Sir. I had to rant on it.

  • @RowdyRodimus I totally agree with you man.

  • @RowdyRodimus That's a good idea!, you should tell that to the video game companies.

  • @RowdyRodimus

    Ur playing shitty games

  • @RowdyRodimus

Don't worry. Even on the Pc you have to wait several minutes for the logos to finish DX. It is like suddenly you can't even skip the logos any more. So your rant is pretty reasonable

  • @RowdyRodimus Add to that the "login screen" where you choose your 'username' on the PS3, having to select you want to use it to PLAY the GAME in the slot, not watching news or buying online flowers or whatever and the annoying shut down sequence to turn the thing off. I'd add Clippy and have it make say "It seems you want to turn the PS3 off. Do you want me to help you to shut the PS3 off, you illiterate cretin?"

  • @RowdyRodimus Sony is guilty of worse things, like their 40 minute updates for games and the console. Frequent, long updates, it drives me mad, even with Fios it took me an hour and a half to update the game and the system.

  • @RowdyRodimus Super Mario Galaxy 2 puts you in control with 30 seconds ;D

  • Funny ending! Good review! ;D

  • Sega 32X is a cluserfuck.

  • Fuck 32X in it's ass. Or port. And fuck VF for that matter too! lol'

    good show guys

  • God i loved to play virtua fighter on PC

  • The graphics remind me a bit of Sumotori Dreams, which is also a great game.

  • Never understood why this game got popular I would rather play good looking 2D game then ugly 3D games.

  • @cowboyscowboys

When i was playing it as a kid it didn't look that bad.

  • It would be cool if you could do a side by side between the 32x version to both of the Saturn versions (flat and shaded versions).

  • sega consoles have always been underrated unfortunately... no one gave them the chance to actually test and like their consoles it was mostly for the hardcore sega fans.

  • thank god its not derek.

  • The game-play for this Virtua Figher game looks exactly like the game play in the Teken series. Wonder who had it first? Great Review.

  • @h20DDs

Virtua Fighter came out in November 1993 (arcade), and Tekken came out almost exactly 1 year later in December 1994 (arcade).

  • @Chaniyth So Virtua Fighter did have the gameplay first, thanks for the heads up.

  • The game play to this game looks so similar to Teken's gameplay, somebody had the idea first, Take that Namco, lol Great Review.

  • Mark, you wouldn't believe what happened. This guy posted a video on your channel, I don't know what it was but it was definitely not CGR quality. I guess you've sorted it out now. It was painful ;_;

    Good to have you back.

  • I always like the look of some 32x games, the more rare titles, are pretty expensive though, obivously spiderman, is very expensive, but so are some others.

  • Graphics have come a LONG way

  • Sarah Bryant, still my favourite character in VF5. Two player in the original must be fun even today. They should make an online multi player version for the current gen.

  • I heard this didn't have any of the clipping problems of the Saturn version... shame about the sound.

  • I just had a flashback on playing this game in chuckie cheese as a kid.....and kicking this grown-ups ass! i think i was the ninja. great review CGR 5/5

  • I kinda missed Virtua Fighter

  • Mark mark mark, yay!

  • This game has some really good sound, when you listen to it. That's awesome. I may need to track this one down....

  • is this the first fighting game with KO replays? (a common thing nowadays)

  • The characters act like they have problems...!!! Great game though!

  • i was one of those few who had a 32X and Virtua Fighter 32X at the time, and i played this game to bits. i had so much fun with it -- so much so, in fact, that for me almost any version i played since (3tb, 4, 5) has proved to be a bit of a letdown... yeaaaah!!!

  • Wow, I still have this same game. I remember I used to play this all the time =) Thank you.

  • yeah your much better than derick or what ever his name was that dudes balls aint droped yet

  • it looks horrible, but i like how the characters move, there's fighting style seems kinda real like,

  • Looks good but I'd still rather play this on the Saturn. More specifically Virtua Fighter Remix, which fixes a lot of the graphical issues and bugs of the original release

  • YEAH!

  • Ur way better than derik or whatever his name was

  • @dublob1234 You obviously haven't been watching Classic Game Room for long... :/

  • @dublob1234 Really? Look at the title, CLASSIC GAME ROOM. TBH COD MW2 is a major fail in my opinion and I LOVE! COD games.

  • @dublob1234 there is a cod 6 review, but the reason CGR is so popular, is that it just doesnt review new games that are popular, it reviews a wide range of genres even if the game is cult. Besides, there's more to life than cod.

  • Lawl Spam Spam Spam Lose xD get Down! I love this old graphic =)

  • i thank the 32x just sucks just like the sega cd

  • @johnnyraycrum

Because AVGN said so? Did you own either of them?

  • you are the best man.

  • I would love it if u made a review of super mario rpg what an awesome game or even advance wars
