Well, Happy Birthday, Engineer5344! It's September 1st and I went and asked three people. Two referred me to the engineer, and the engineer himself. Unfortunately, he didn't know, either. Interestingly enough, the engine actually appears to have two separate whistles. If you send the sound to the people at rizzolilocomotiveworks it says on their web site they can make you one just like it.
hey thats my birthday. well don't worry about it until you can go. im not that big of a hurry to find out what it is. i have heard steam traction engines and locomotives use that particluar whistle and to me it always had a nice tune to it.
Searched a bit and found one that sounds fairly similar. If you go to rizzolilocomotiveworks dot com and click their link to sounds it's the #1 choice. The Rock River Thresheree isn't until September 1, so I can;t ask until then.
true, but still photo and movies it's ok. these days you can do it. back in the days of steam, i know this for a fact in the northeast. if you made black smoke. you were terminated off the service.
i like the smoke plume, my congrats to the fireman. and also to the engineer. what kind of whistle is that. that railroad should buld more wooden coaches, like the one behind the tender.
Very nice loco. Cool pipe. Thumbs up! :)

Sorry, can't answer that (yet). If I go this year I'll ask. There might be some info at 'hornandwhistle dot net' under the links.

Too much smoke means inefficient firing
