I had the honor of recording "blue moon of kentucky" at sun studios last year and it was surreal. 5 feet from where elvis stood and sang the same song. It was the A side of his first commercial recording at sun studios. thats alright mama was the b side.

This version is the original, actually...for some reason it was never released as a single ("Suspicion" was a B-side by Elvis, but Terry Stafford had a huge hit with it...Ral Donner had the same luck, and Ral's own follow-ups were even better than his version of this one)...I think Ral's version is moodier and fits the lyrics a touch better, but this is to me still the best version of all
