She has no comprehension of the formal dining service code. In the American style of dining, at rest you place the knife and fork in an upside down v-position at the 5:00 position tines facing up. When you are finished eating you place the fork and knife together (knife on right) tines of fork up at 10:20 position. For the European style of dining when you are at rest you place the knife and fork in an upside down V, fork tines down. And when you are finished eating same 10:20 with tines down.
While I respect Ms Johanson for having the gumption to record these videos, her credentials are rather lacking. Simply attending a boarding school is not sufficient for her to be qualified to instruct on formal dining etiquette. Moreover, her instructions are often very incorrect. I would recommend watching Nancy Mitchell's etiquette series on monkeysee. She has 20 years experience with diplomatic protocol/etiquette with the US government. Her series is much better and far more accurate.
Marianne. You look fantastic in pink! Ok, so what is the proper way? I'm confused now. After I have finished eating I've customarily placed all of my utensils back on the plate close together with the handles slightly over the edge of the plate in the four o'clock position, which let's them know I am finished. Please correct me if I am mistaken.
what u learned is the continental style (worldwide), and that's how I learned it too just a while ago in another video by the expert village. I learend that this style is how they use it in England.

What kind of idiot would put dirty utensils back on the table?
Really, I'd like to know, because the whole point of this video was to show that it's wrong.

I really think you are doing a good job, and it's not very nice that people who you are trying to educate are insulting you.
